Firstly, as others have said, the sticks are small and a bit fiddly to get in and (especially) out without getting your fingers all over them.I was upgrading my RAM from 2 to 4 GB because wmp told me i was running out of memory sometimes when i was streaming web video. I also had virus problems at the time, so after checking the 2 new RAM sticks in memtest86 i did a full reinstallation of XP 32bit.It was a complete nightmare for several days with all sorts of apparently random errors, and much forum surfing told me that i had either a hardware (most likely memory) or software problem, or a virus. Very helpful. I ran memtest again overnight - RAM was fine. To cut a very, very long story - i finally found a different memory test (HCImemtest) which runs under windows. As soon as i started this it threw up masses of errors. I removed one of the new sticks and my pC has run perfectly ever since. Amazon took the 'faulty' stick back for a full refund, no questions, which is one of the reasons i ike to buy from this site. I subsequently found out that if i'd messed around in the BIOS altering NB voltages and RAM frequency, i may have got both the new sticks to work. This was something i really didn't want to do, and XP 32bit really only uses 3.25GB of the 4GB anyway. One other thing: trying to run a web video stream the other night, with no other programs running, i got the low memory warning and could not run WMP. Taskmaster showed over 2GB of free memory. Thank you microsoft for nothing. So the lessons were,1. Don't just buy memory of the same spec as you have already and expect it necessarily to work. Best flog what you have and buy a properly matched pair or pairs, tho' this is not the cheapest solution.2. If you do, buy it from somewhere that will take it back without quibbling.3. Use HCI memtest NOT memtest86 to check your RAM.4. Never take windows error messages at face value!Hope someone may find my experiences useful and save themselves a lot of time and grief.

I purchased this chip in order to upgrade my Dell Vostro 200 Tower from 1GB (X2 512MB) to 2GB of memory. I notice that the chip was half the size of the one I had in my Dell Tower but it worked ok.After you have installed your chip and you have Windows 7 then take look at the basic stats of your PC (right click computer in start menu then press properties) you will see that the "Installed Memory (RAM)" shows up as 1GB useable and 1GB in reserve or something like that. To fix this so you use the memory you just installed, in my case this was 2Gb, click the start menu then type "msconfig" into the search box, then press enter. Navigate to the "Boot" tab in the window that appears, change timeout to 30 seconds then click "advanced options". Tick the box for "Number of Processors" and select the maximum number available. Then tick the box for "Maximum Memory" and use the top arrow symbol to scroll up to your maximum memory available, in my case this was 2048. Then press OK then OK then restart your PC. This will not only boost up your startup time but it will also allocate the memory you have just installed in your PC. To check this has worked again right click computer in start menu then press properties. You should see that the "Installed Memory (RAM)" shows up as the maximum available. In my case this was 2GB.I hope this helps those of you that have windows 7. Great seller as the chips arrived very quickly. Just by adding 1 of these chips has vastly improved the speed of my PC. Well worth the price.

There are so many versions of memory out there that it is difficult to know what to expect unless you are knowledgeable in this area. My own PC was running XP, Vista & Windows 7, with 2Gb of memory. This was fine for XP, but when I wiped the PC & installed Windows 7 by itself, it was obviously in need of extra memory. I bought the Kingston product basically because it was cheap enough to throw away if I had made a mistake. I mixed it with 2GB of the original Samsung memory, which again isn't the best thing to do. However, it booted up fine & recognised the new memory cards.I had checked the Windows 7 perfomance indicator before installation & it gave memory performance at 5.7.With the Kingston added to the Samsung, it went up to 6.1, which is exactly the same as the processor performance. I now have a much more balanced system, with better multi-tasking performance, plus slightly better gaming performance. I noticed that Windows 7 only sees 3.3Gb of the installed 4Gb, so I tried the Kingston by itself to see if there were any problems (there weren't). I reinstalled the full 4Gb & have used this ever since.I guess that experts will be able to judge the electronic performance of this memory in more detail than myself, but from a purely practical point of view, I think that the result was well worth the outlay.

2gb running fine, although I was sent 2 different size sticks, but both are the same model, just different sized pcb's, I found I could overclock this by 60mhz, without messing with the voltages, I reckon if you fitted a heatsink and upped the voltage from the stock 1.8 to around 2.0 volts, it would probably reach the magical 1ghz, just make sure your motherboard has the system bus to match, Kingston have been in the memory game for a long time, and it shows with this ram, very stable and a good upgrade if your running slower memory, windows 32 bit can only read 3 gig, windows 64 bit can read upto 32 gig, so buy accordingly.Because of the way the computer business operates, DDR3 is cheaper, legacy memory products become expensive as companies move to new product lines, so my advice is to buy this before it becomes even more expensive.Excellent value, and IJT Direct delivered within 3 days, Win !

I installed the extra ram taking my 32bit Windows7 machine from 2GB to 3GB and so far it's a vast improvement! No lagging on programs and after running a fresh rating in the System/Windows Experience Index my rating went from 3.0 to 3.2 might not sound a lot but it's a jump in the right direction for a 32bit Compaq Presario desktop. This is a must have if like me, you've upgraded from Vista to W7 and the price is amazing too! If a numpty like me can switch a memory card then you can too, so easy and stress free. Remember that Mz is something to look at when ordering ram, the bigger the no. (like this 800mz) the better, i didn't go any higher because i wasn't 100% sure how much my pc could handle. Can't say enough good things really, i hope this gives you a nudge in the right direction, i would definitely use this item again if needed.

Well I guess you could buy any RAM these days and say "it increased performance", well of course this RAM does all of those things, just because it's "VALUE" what it really means is no fancy heat spreaders(which you don't need). But yes, my system was 5 years old and only had 2GB's of DDR2 memory, so I installed this RAM DIMM which was a different brand and Mhz and it worked! So this RAM is compatible with other DIMMs, you don't need to get a pair of these for 4GB, however there are some circumstances where the Motherboard will prevent it, be sure to do your research on your motherboard ID if your computer is old.If your computer is fairly new and has DDR2,I'm sure this will work for you.(Download a program called "CPU-Z" to find your motherboard's model ID)

Doubled the RAM on my Dell Inspiron 530 from 2GB to a maximum of 4GB for about £20. No problems encountered. Each GB arrived expeditiously, securely packaged in a factory sealed plastic enclosure 6"x2"x0.25" with instructions for installation. Make sure the catches are all the way up on the housing before installing and listen for the click as they seat. When you run CPU-Z, 800MHz DDR2 shows up as 400MHZ (ie. half the memory speed). After checking, found this is normal for DDR2. I had 2GHz of 667MHz DDR2 RAM already installed so CPU-Z showed 333Mhz which is the slower of the two memory speeds. After install, Windows Experience Index (WEI) measured RAM as 5.4 which I understand is good. Now need to update my graphics which shows a WEI of 3.4!

If you buy a 1gb ram 800mhz this is the one to go for. its cheap, reliable and sturdy and you couldnt ask for more.it does exactly as it says it does and runs nice with my AMD Phenom IIno issues with installation and works fine... and it will run fine aslong as you know if it is compatible with the motherboard which im gathering some people didnt take into accountthe only thing thats different to what is advertised is that its is actually only half the size of a normal stick but still has the same amount of power behind it.delivery was quick and product arrived in good protected packaging leaving it unharmedbest value for money ram on the web personally if i could id give it 6 stars.

I had bought these for a second attempt at upgrading the RAM in my PC. I had ordered a costlier (and supposed to be compatible) item before and had to return as it didn't work and crashed the PC.When I got this, I opened up my PC and installed the modules, expecting at best case I will have to repair the Windows installation after I power on the PC. But no, these worked straightaway and windows had no problem in startup . Couldn't believe it took only 15mins to complete the upgrade. Very good value for money.

I was running 1GB of RAM on my Packard Bell iMedia 2215 which runs Vista. Before instalation it was getting VERY slow and took ages to load any application.Once this RAM unit was installed (which was very very easy) i instantly noticed an vast improvement on booting up. Loading programmes is also now so infinatly faster.I would recommend this to ANYONE who has a slugish computer. Its easy enough to find tutorials online on how to install them.Very cheap, fast delivery.Very satisfied customer =]

I bought two of these back in August and was surprised at the performance difference it made to my pc. Ive now bought another two as Im now running 7x64 and looking forward to fewer hang ups. At the price this is going for, you really cant argue :)update: New ones arrived. not low profile like the first ones and different latency timings. the first ones were CL5 and the newer ones are CL6. No problems though, stuck'em in and they work perfectly fine :)

2Gb turned a 512Mb thrashing system into a smooth operator. Remember to check the old memory speed and remove the old ones if they are slower speed, If not the new and old memeory will run at the slow speed. If you are worried about static then leave the system plugged in but switch the power off at mains socket. That keeps the earth circuit open and you can ground yourself on the chassis.

Why buy overpriced Ram when upgrading your computer if a lesser known brand does the exact same job, thus maintains quality for less money. In these times when you want your money to go further why would you want to spend more money just because of the brand name, especially when nobody else would know what brand it was as its' inside your PC? Simply put "it's quality at a bargain price ".

25.9.2009

This memory is very cheap and it does the exact same job as the bigger brands. For such a low price i was expecting that it will have limited options avaliable such as it will only be useable in certain computers but it is just a standard memory and will fit into mostly any computer that accepts DDR2. 5 stars and reccomended to anyone.
