We have an Ideal Standard Sottini Pergamon bathroom suite from the 1990s, with the shower operating via a 2m hose running up from the bath mixer taps. The shower is gravity feed with the water tank a just a few feet (~3ft) above the shower head, so it's a very low pressure hot and cold water feed (our low water pressure being around 0.1 Bar at the shower head). However it worked fine with our original Ideal Standard (gold finish) shower head that just had a row holes around the outer edge of the shower head - with a rotating ring on the head that went from a finer spread out spray (quite good for showering) to a coarse narrow stream (more like a dribble).Being in a hard water area the shower head needed descaling frequently (every year) but it lasted us well for the last 20 years. Unfortunately the shower head body has now split and leaks, so a replacement was required. We naturally tried to source an identical replacement, but there's only these Ideal Rain or similar shower heads available from Ideal Standard.At 80mm diameter this Ideal Rain S3 is the smallest shower head in the Ideal Rain range, so it was the one most likely to cope with low water pressures. It fitted our old shower rail & 8mm bore shower hose perfectly and has a three way slider at the bottom to go from fine spray to coarser inner jet sprays, Unfortunately all of these options provided insufficient water flow and spread for a nice shower experience. These Ideal Rain shower heads clearly need more water pressure to work well. Would probably would have been fine if the shower was downstairs in a two story house (we live in a bungalow though) but in our situation it would need a seperate hot/cold water pump to increase the water pressure. I bought this to replace a leaking shower head; this was a direct replacement for the old one and is perfect.
