I bought the 82mm version of this when I moved up to a modern 24-70 f/2.8. Prior to that my go-to polariser was the 77mm Hoya HD, though I've used others by Marumi and lower Hoya models in the past. I bought directly from Amazon ("Dispatched from and sold by Amazon") to avoid getting a fake.Optically I can't find anything to complain about here. The polarising effect is strong if you need it to be, it doesn't suck up as much light as some others (roughly 1.3 stops), and it doesn't seem to affect the flare characteristics of the lens all that much. Mechanically, the rotation is smooth and offers what I consider to be a "good" amount of resistance, not too much but not in the least bit sloppy either.I've only cleaned it once, but it does seem a bit less streak-prone than my old HD version which is very welcome. The big downside - enough to make me drop it to four stars - is the extremely thin grip ring and thread. I find this filter a serious pain to screw in, and once tightened even slightly, even more of a pain to remove. I just know I'm going to have big trouble with this thing when I'm shooting in cold conditions with numb fingers. My previous Hoya HD CPL was slimline too, but much easier to apply and remove than this. I really wish Hoya had made the both the threading and the grip ring just that little bit taller.

****Please excuse the really poor video quality, it seems to happen with all my Amazon videos.****Extremely pleased with this filter!I chose this as it was the number one CPL filter on the big LensTip comparison of 30 different ones, but also has a reasonable price.I got my 49mm one for £35 shipped from Amazon.Basically zero flaring/reflections. This is the most important for me.No visible colour shift, but I didn't do any super precise tests myself.Easy to turn with two fingers, a little more difficult with one finger.See photos for examples of no flaring/reflections in very high contrast shots, one bright with a dark subject and one dark test scene with very bright highlights.See video for example of controlling the reflections on the leaves.

Great filter, it does what you expect of a polariser and it's very nice quality too giving clean and crisp results. I personally like how narrow it is and see this as a positive especially when stacking it with other filters, I haven't had any issues using the filter or taking it on and off because of how narrow it is as yet, but I have got quite small and dexterous fingers. One major plus with this filter for me as a landscape photographer who take s a lot of pictures in the mountains and on the beach is how easy it is to keep clean, I normally spend half my time cleaning water spray and grains of sand etc. off my filters but not so much with this one.

It is an expensive bit of glass (costing 1/3rd of the price of the lens I'm buying it for), but reviews have rated this filter as one of the best polarizing filters on the market. This filter's thinness may be a problem - there is very little thread at the back to attach it to the lens, very little thread depth at the front to screw in a hood or hold a lens cap firmly, and only a VERY thin strip of metal to grip onto when screwing it in or out. If you are going to be taking the filter off and on a lot, or attaching a heavy lens hood, I think a filter with a thicker body would be better. Only after prolonged use will I know if I made the right choice.

I was highly suspicious when I ordered this item from Camera king as it was half the price of all main stream sellers. . I am not suggesting that King would knowingly sell fakes but I do know that in some areas fakes have infiltrated the supply chain. It had particular qualities that I liked and I had bought from King before. I viewed the Hoya website and carried out the tests of quality they show, along side a filter I new to be of inferior quality. I was amazed it does appear to be the genuine article, so I bought the 55mm and 72mm versions from Camera King as well.

Description says "Scratch resistant - Hardened coating protects against everyday wear" so when I lost my lens cap a week into my Holiday I wasn't too concerned. However after one week without a cap I had to throw the filter away as it was heavily scratched. Don't get me wrong: the filter itself is great but don't expect to much from the "hardened" coating.

This is a very nice polariser. I can't see any optic issues from it's use and that's on an A7r with Zeiss 35F1.4 to a pretty high resolution setup. I'm really pleased with the build quality, colour rendition and overall build quality. I've used Hoya filters for decades and this one didn't disappoint.

I have several Hoya HD & HMC filters and I can’t see any difference in clarity BUT there is a noticeable difference in the amount of dust that appears on the filter. Most muck that does appear is easily blown away. I have yet to find any finger prints either.

may be a little pricey, but it does the job. unless you buy and try competitors, it is hard to know how much better it is compared to lower priced filter, but that is what business is, selling premium price and the promise it is worth it.

This polariser is slim and lightweight. The adjustment ring has a good grip and is smooth and easy to turn. The thread grip is prominent, making the filter easy to remove from the lens. A good filter to have in your kit.

One of the best circular pl filters around, designed to serve digital photography needs. Have shot with it attached on various EF-M and EF-S lenses of my collection. Excellent results!

Easier to clean to streak free finish. Thin so good for preventing vignetting but can be hard to take off especially in the cold. Happy with it so far.

This polarising filter is in a class of it's own and is a must have for your camera kit. Hoya is a brand that you can trust.

In my opinion, too slim. If you screw it a little too hard to the lens, you can have a big problem with removing it.

A great circular polarising filter with anti static coating.
