This is a fun game that is another take on the whisper games that we all played when we were kids. This game of whispers, involves either taking it in turns, or pairing up in teams, to try and win the cards with the phrase on them.In team play, each team takes it in turns to wear the headphones and be the reader. The player wearing the headphones has one minute to guess what their team mate is saying to them. The team mate whispers a phrase from the top card in the deck as many times as they can in the one minute, while the other player tries to guess what they are saying. If they guess within the minute, they win the card, if they don't then the card is put back at the bottom of the deck. Then the next team take their go and so on, alternating between who wears the headphones and who whispers. You can play with 4 to 8 players according to the game rules and the box, but I feel you can easily expand to more players if you wanted to. If you play the game a lot, then I can imagine you may get to know what the phrases are eventually, so may mean you soon can't use the deck you have, so expansion packs would be nice and I agree with one reviewer that an "adult" pack could be fun too. But there is nothing to stop you making up your own phrases and using them or mix it up with other teams giving each other things to say and using a point marker system... there are more possibilities to play if you are imaginative enough. The headphones are chunky and do dull sound a lot, as well as having sounds played to you, to distract you, but they are not totally noise cancelling if you are quiet, so you do need to whisper, so as not to cheat the game, as the person wearing the headphones may still be able to hear you if you speak too loudly. The headphones require 2 AAA batteries, which are not included, which is a bit disappointing given the price of the game. The headphones have a built in timer too, so you know when a minute is up.Overall, it is a fun game, but is a little pricey for what it is and you could easily find ways to play this by just buying generic cheaper headphones from a discount store and playing music through them for a minute, making up your own phrases as you go.

I hadn’t heard of this, but when I was offered it through the Vine programme, I thought it sounded like good fun.The premise is really simple. Put on headphones, which will play an irritating cacophony of sounds for the duration of the round. During this time, your teammate reads out phrases from a stack of cards, and you have to correctly guess what they’ve said to win each card. No gestures are allowed, and also no passes.Simple, right? But when the phrases are deceptively simple, like ‘I’ll pay, my treat.’ Or ‘I must remember to water the plants’, the potential for misunderstood words is huge. It’s not unheard of to get through a whole round (about a minute) and still be stuck on the first card. But the hilarity is the aim here, so just go with it!It’s a bit like the reverse of Speak Out (which is also good) - making it difficult for the hearer, rather than the speaker.Get teams of family members or friends together (I think it works best with 2 in a team, but you could do 3 or 4 too, I guess) and you’ll swiftly be in stitches. Pretty much every round will have some sticking point that builds the laughter and the frustration! We have played for anything from 1/2 an hour upwards. No firm end goal is set, so you can just play as many rounds as you like, really. It’s labelled for 12+, and that’s probably about right. We haven’t come across any rude words in well over a hundred questions yet, but you do need to be reasonably articulate. Having said that, my 11-year-old daughter will love it - definitely going to involve her next time.Just remember that two AAA batteries are *not* included. Personally, if I were Hasbro, I’d charge an extra quid and just include them, but that's a very minor quibble. There are lots of questions, enough to keep a family entertained for about 20-30 games before you get through them all once, as an absolute minimum. It’s good value for money, easy to play, hilarious and will have a long life, I think. Definitely recommended.

This Hearing Things Game from Hasbro represents a rather inexpensive evenings entertainment at the current price of around seventeen pounds from Amazon. You probably won't want to play it often – if ever again once you've gone through all the cards – but for a single evening you can have a lot of simple fun and a lot of laughs. The game is not at all complicated – one player wears the speech-cancelling electronic headphones (powered by 2 x 1.5V AAA alkaline batteries - not included) and then tries to lip-read a random phrase their teammate reads from one of the cards. This is a game for four to eight adult players plus kids from ages 12 and over – but make sure you have a small screwdriver handy to fit the batteries when you intend to start playing.Once the game has been played to the end it would be a fun idea to pass it around to your friends and family so they can get the use from it too.

A great success with the teenagers , who like wearing headphones at the best of time and are masters at lip reading , generally muttering under their breaths most of the time to each other .This comes with a set of headphones , pretty lightweight ones and game cards . You do need a larger group of people to play , although we managed 3 once . It says for children aged 12 and up and again I wouldn’t say this is a strict rule as we played with a 10 year old .Its a novel game and keeps kids amused and works well for tipsy adults too .Beware of cheating teenagers when you play as the headphones aren’t that quite or snug fitting and have batteries so there isn’t any bigger arguments than the usual ones playing games,or maybe that’s just my family .....Overall I good , unusual idea for a gift and a good party game for kids and for adults .

We pulled Hasbro’s Hearing Things Game out this evening and my daughter-in-law straight away recognised it as she has played it before. She said it was a good game – and she was right. It is based on the simple concept of Chinese Whispers except that you are provided with noise cancellation earphones and have to be able to lip read. We had a brilliant time trying to lip read the odd phrases provided, all within a minute. My only criticism is that this game requires 2 AAA batteries for the headphones which are not provided. It also requires a screwdriver to insert said batteries. We only realised this just before we wanted to play the game – so the start was delayed.Nevertheless, this makes brilliant after dinner entertainment and whilst it has now been put away in the games cupboard, I do see this being brought out again and again.

This is an excellent game that is a great addition to the family games cupboard. It is quick and easy to set up. There are two decks of cards, which are double sided and colour coded. The cards all have sentences and phrases on them that are completely random. There is also a set of earphones which play loud noises into the ears of the person wearing them. The noise plays for one minute at the push of a button. It is a very fun game with lots of laughter to be had. Working in partners, one person wears the headphones while the other struggles to be lip read, reading the phrases from the cards. It is a race to understand as many cards as possible by lip reading. The wrong answers can be hilarious!

My grandchildren have always loved board games from a young age and as the years have gone by I have struggled to find age appropriate games as they have tried and played most. This is a fantastic game and I was delighted to discover for my granddaughter's twelfth birthday. A lip reading game that is hilarious and ingenious. For up to four players, turns are taken wearing the noise cancelling headphones and the other players have to whisper the saying picked from a card and the person wearing the headphones has to try and either guess or lip read.Very very addictive and this game is loved by all the family. No hesitation in recommending. Will make a great gift.

I've seen a variation of this played on the Ellen show and it's never failed to crack me up.The set is fairly simple, but very effective. There's a pair of "noise cancelling" headphones and cards with phrases on them - do I really need to explain more? Suffice to say your lip-reading skills will be put to the test. We've played this as a family a couple of times, and our son took it away over the weekend to play with some friends from university - he accused one of the girls of sabotaging the game by wearing a low cut top, which I thought was quite funny in itself.Top marks from everyone who has tried it.

A simple idea - one person wears the headphones which block out noise while the other players pick a card with a phrase to say to the headphone wearer who has to guess what they're saying. We tried this game with four adults and four kids and the results were hilarious. Everyone starts off very confident, it doesn't seem that hard after all. However, like Chinese Whispers, the results are very funny if played properly and no one gets in a strop! We've earmarked this for Christmas afternoon activity and are currently writing a few more phrases to appeal to all age groups. A great find.

This is one of those simple boards that requires minimal reading on instructions, which is what I like! Players simply take turn to put on the noise cancelling headphones then they try and work out what phrase the other person is saying from one of the 150 cards just by reading their lips. There are 600 phrases to read in total, so the game has good longevity, and many of the phrases are not obvious and some are quite tough so there's a good level of challenge here as well some genuinely very comical moments, great fun!

I bought this as a gift and and now buying it for myself as it was such a hoot to play. The headphone volume was absolutely fine as you have to read the cards in a loud whisper, so it easily drowned out the speaker's voice. The only issue was accidently hitting the start button while putting the headphones on a few times as you have to wait for the chatter to finish. Plenty of cards but once they're done you could easily make your own by cutting out phrases from a magazine or print stuff off

A game bought for Xmas for a teenager.Hilarious we had a right laugh trying to make out what people were saying and hours of playing this. Some reviews said the earphones weren’t great however we found them to be great and done exactly what they were meant to a great buy to play at a get together with a few people and for any age which is great as everyone can join in

Fun game to play with kids or adults. It is probably aimed at older kids as the youngest who's 6 got frustrated and didn't see the funny side of not guessing what was being said. The headphones weren't very good at cancelling the noise, we did have to push them right up against our ears. Otherwise a good family game.

Hilarious game, and it's surprisingly difficult to lip read! Had hours of entertainment with the whole family. Simple to play, lots of laughs and really good fun! Great for all ages (our family group were aged 12 - 92!) I would definitely recommend this family game for lots of laughs and hours of fun!

Bought this game to play over Christmas holiday. Had quite a lot of fun with adults & the grandchildren, but feel it is a bit over priced as just a set of question cards & set of headphones. You have to whisper the question or mime otherwise the person wearing the headphones can still hear you!!
