According to the USTA, string vibration dampeners are legal as long as they are placed outside the area of the cross strings. Dampeners may not overlap the bottom cross string, and they do nothing but calm the sting vibration and change the sound of the impact. No dampener affects the feel in your arm. These are as good as it gets! They do not come off until you take them off.To install them, go to the string bed area below the last cross string (toward the throat of the racquet). You want to put them between two main strings that measure just a bit farther apart than the length of the SmartSorb when it is centered within in the width of the stringbed.

A buddy broke strings and didn't have his backup racquet so I loaned him my Babolat AeroDrive Pro that I had fitted with the button-type Babolat dampener. He immediately wanted to switch out my dampener with his, this Head SmartSorb. When he returned the racquet the following week, he forgot his dampener and left it on so I played with it.I noticed a difference - the racquet felt "softer" on touch/drop shots. I don't know the technical aspects but I do know the feel and I was hooked so I immediately ordered several of these.The other nice thing, not that I needed another bonus but the button dampener would at time, fly off during a hard shot which would then interrupt our match trying to find and replace it.With this Head dampener,

Used the silly "button" tensioners for years. They only dampened the middle two vertical strings and kept popping out during play.This "worm" stretches across almost all vertical strings, weaving over and under, and actually hooks on the outside ones. Never had one come loose in a year of playing with them.

I have used this before, but strayed away to less effective dampeners. I recently went to a different string and with higher tension and both my rackets made a buzz even with the dampeners in - drove me nuts.I ordered two of these and fixed both racquets, instantly and perfectly.

I purchased the Head SmartSorb to replace another dampener I purchased at my local tennis store. This dampener stays in place really well and I have it on all my racquets. Also, it is unobtrusive and you can barely see it.

I have used many dampeners for my tennis racquets over the years and this is now my favorite! Easy to install, and works great! Highly recommend.

The style of this dampener fits my racquet and does not jar loose on off center hits. Easily installed and offers comfort on my ground strokes.

This stays in place and dampens better than any others I've tried! It is also durable and lasts a long time.
