This hammock was my first introduction into the world of hammock camping. It was recommended by many people from scout groups to military personel so I had to give it a go.This hammock by DD Hammocks is one of the best you can find at this price. It served me well for many camping trips with my local scout group and makes a nice change to sleeping on the floor on sometimes uneven and lumpy campsites. The DD Camping Hammock is ideally suited for people who want start exploring the options that hammock camping provides, without spending a fortune. It comes with:- 2 zippers (on 1 zip) for easy entry/ exit- Two layer design that allows cocoon-like sleeping- You can lie out in the open (on top of both layers)with the option to put a thermarest/ camping mat between the layers as insulation- Comes with 10m of webbing/ rope attached ready to hang- Stuff Sack (size when packed approx 30cm x 10cm)The 2 zippers (on 1 zip) might sound like a gimmick but it does make life much easier when entering and exiting the hammock. Its much harder to touch your toes whilst in your sleeping bag and swinging in a hammock than you may think. The two layer design comes into its own when camping in colder conditions. Having the option of adding a roll mat under you at night greatly increases the warmth and comfort of the hammock.10 meters of webbing is more than enough for 99% of situations where you will want to hang your hammock. If you are new to hammock camping, I would not recommend rushing to buy the Whoopie Suspension System straight away. It is a luxury item and is not essential (I have used both and they both work well). Add it on at a later date if you feel you will benefit from it.The stuff sack is what makes this hammock the ultimate camping setup for 99% of people. At only 30x10cm when packed, this hammock can fit in most combat trouser pockets (leg pocket). This option has allowed me to take this out when hiking, find a nice quiet spot by the river and set up the hammock. The hammock makes an excellent seat or you can have a lay down for a power hour if you are going for longer walks. This hammock allows you to escape the limits of traditional tent camping. The only issue I found with this hammock is when zipped up inside the hammock, it can be slightly claustraphobic as the top layer has no support and does hang in your face. It also has a habit of gathering condensation on the inside during the night. These points are only minor and can easily be resolved with the use of tarp clips (cheap on amazon) to hold the top layer up during the night.Overall, I would truely recommend this hammock to anyone looking to start hammock camping. Its an affordable way to start seeing camping in a whole new light. CAUTION: Hammock Camping is very enjoyable and can get quite expensive once you are addicted... There are as many optional extras for hammocks as there trees to hang them from.

This is a very strong, very comfortable piece of kit. I've been camping in Europe with it and have had absolutely no issues whatsoever. A few points to go by-Comfort- Brilliant. It's easy to adjust to, even though I sleep on my side I find that by tying it quite tightly it can support me comfortably in the foetal position. Obviously a little extra insulation is required beneath you, but a cheap £5 silver mat is more than enough for this. Don't worry about falling out either, it'd be very difficult. I roll around a lot whilst sleeping and am not concerned by it, the way the fabric rises either side when your weight is placed in the middle keeps you very secure.IT is vastly more comfortable than sleeping on the ground.Versatility- You can sleep in places you would never have been comfortable with a set up that remains on the ground. Steep slopes, very rocky terrain, wet terrain, marshy terrain, tree roots and holes- they're suddenly a non-issue. Obviously you need 2 supports either end but the straps are very long, you'd be surprised by where you can get away with.Speed- 1 minute to set up once you've found a spot. It's simply wrap around then a knot, 2 times, the knots don't even have to be very good. The straps are very long and VERY strong, I can't ever see them breaking without a knife being taken to them. They grip trees very well indeed and don't cause any damage to the wood you're using. You can use it to stop and take a rest from walking or biking, something I'd never consider with a tent or tarp. Putting it up in the wind isn't any bother either.Carriage- It's a small extra item to carry and really doesn't take up any bag room. It packs away easily, though the straps can be a faff, but doesn't take more than 2 minutes if it's very windy.Durability- The material that forms the hammock itself is very strong, as are the straps. I suspect this hammock will outlast me if looked after. No worries here. All in all, excellent purchase. I won't go camping without it now. A good nights sleep and excellent if you have back issues. Cannot recommend enough to those who may be sceptical.

This DD product is great because it is strong, good quality and very simple.I resisted the hammock camping craze for quite a long time, mainly due to an unreasonable unwillingness to try a new approach to a problem I thought had already been solved (by the tent/bivvi bag and the roll mat/thermarest).Actually, hammocks are a great way to camp when you know there will be trees around. They are more comfortable than lying on hard rough ground and less hassle than putting up a tent. A hammock like this is so quick to put up, you can do it every time you stop for a rest - something you would never dream of doing with a tent. I often use mine for an after-lunch siesta, or as a lounge chair for a sun-downer.It takes me around 60 seconds to rig it. The dark green colour means you can go un-noticed in places where you might otherwise raise eyebrows.Caveat: so far I have used it only in warm weather (about 10 nights slept in it so far, all in woods in southern England during the hot summer of 2013). I have yet to use mine under a tarp in rain, but it is obvious that drip-rings or some similar modification would be needed, as the supplied webbing will presumably wick water onto the hammock if used in wet conditions as-supplied. I have not deducted any stars for this, as whatever solution DD provided would inevitably not suit some customers and would add extra cost for all customers; they have taken the sensible approach of leaving it simple and letting each customer customize it if/as required.By the way: Although many people mess around with karibiners, ring-buckles and other over-complicated contraptions to fix their hammocks to trees, I recommend you learn two classic knots and forget all the extra gear. You only need to know the round-turn-and-two-half-hitches and the bowline. You could also use this in your garden.

I love this hammock. It's changed my camping style forever. Down with the tent!! Up with the hammock!!Really robust and great quality. The hanging strings are a bit DayGlow for my liking, but apart from that it's spot on. It is basically one sheet of rip-stop lightweight nylon, folded in half and zipped. This means you can put a thin air mattress in the fold and zip it up, which makes a great insulator. It does need to be the thin variety of inflatable ones though so it can shape itself to the hammock once hung. Top tip: put the inflatable mattress in first before trying to hang it!! Alternately you can use blankets, or - my favourite - a nice thick sheepskin (Ikea do some great big ones for £50)assuming you don't need to hike it 20 miles to your camp! If it's dry, you could consider stuffing the gap with dried leaves or ferns, not tried it yet, but I plan to. Make sure they're absolutely dry though otherwise the moisture will wick through to your sleeping bag in the night. The hanging chord is thick and long, so you can pick trees from between 3 and 6 metres apart.Use tree huggers (DD do some excellent ones, best I've come across), and always use a hitch with a loop when hanging, you'll never get a know undone again if you use a simple overhand! In any weather where the overnight temperature drops below 12 degrees you'll need some sort of thermal protection beneath you: a sleeping bag looses it's 'loft' when you sleep on it, so crushing out the trapped air, which means you loose heat from underneath you. If your not going to stuff yours with a mattress or blankets, consider the DD under blanket, 2which works very well.

My first hammock and after researching DD came high in recommendation. My son has a basic ebay version which he loves but I was looking for a stronger option with the ability to insert a mat to make it more comfortable and reduce the cold from underneath. The material is very good and feels strong enough to last, it's comfortable and very easy to set up. It has quite along set of straps attached and a simple reef knot keeps it secure around a tree.I didn't feel the need for a fly sheet version but I would probably get one as an add on one day if I use this more. I only take this out for day hikes, its small enough when wrapped bake into its bag and not a massive weight to worry about.I would consider the extra light version next time but unsure if this would happen as the build quality looks like I will have this item for many years to come. The only problem I have as a newbie is finding a safe quiet spot to set up locally.

I spent quite a while researching different hammocks and finally settled on this one for the quality, price, functionality and the company selling them. I am really pleased with my purchase and due to the zipped compartment I can use it in different ways of I want to.You will need to either become accomplished at tying knots or buy the extra items to hang it but to be quite honest I just tie the knots each time I put the hammock out - it didn't take long to learn the knots and doesn't take long to hang it each time.I purchased it to give me pain relief from widespread chronic pain and it has really helped due to it being able to take my body weight and allowing me to hang there and relax fora while - The only problems I have are getting enough peace and quiet to use it and stopping the cat and dog jumping in it with me!

I spend many hours in a hammock at my woden bungalow (with sea view) at a sleepy Island resort of Koh Lanta, southern Thailand. This is the cornerstone of my relaxing time away from the West! ;)A daily siesta is good for the body and mind ..Therefore I decided to try and recreate a bit of Thailand in my rear garden! After reading all the positive reviews on this Hammock I decided to buy it and It is great!Very nice quality materials and pretty light for the entry model. It is strung between two trees in my garden and is partially shaded too.Happy Days!!! Its a pity I cant see the tropical garden or the glistening of the Andaman sea!but its still worth every penny!Rapid postage and very friendly and helpful office staff too...!I will be back to upgrade and buy other items soon.. Nice one DD Hammocks :)

So me and my friend completed our first wild camping trip close to home in Kent, England. I chose to go down the hammock route as I didn't fancy camping out on the floor. This hammock was amazing and out performed my expectations. I used some hammock straps albeit we camped only for one night. It just so happens we also encountered a freak thunder and lightning storm that night with torrential rain. I also used a DD 3x3 tarp which kept me dry for the duration. I am so happy with the purchase that I would reccomend this to anyone. The only thing I would advise is that you will need a sleeping mat/inflatable mat or hammock underquilt as although it was summer a cool breeze throughout the nightis enough to wake you feeling cold even in British summer.

These hammocks are fantastic. For the price, the weight is right down, the only issue I have, is that they don't have an option to include a tarp/siltarp, you have to buy separately. They're comfortable, and adjustable, the webbing should be tied with multiple over-hand knots, to make it easy to change the tautness of the hammock when attaching to a tree-hugger (Which you buy separately). You will need to buy extra kit to make these hammocks entirely water-proof, but for the price, I'm absolutely happy. Also, DD have great customer-service, I highly recommend buying from them.

Its a great wee hammock. cant go wrong with DD, I have a few of their hammocks and tarps.Ideal now if a midge net is not required which I want it for, Autumn and Winter camping.Hopefully get a few cold clear nights to lie and look at the stars in my favourite woodland.I have DD Whoopie's and tree huggers, but I am going to keep the supplied chords on this one, they have worked fine as I've used the hammock a couple of times already with no problems, great video on the DD site anyway showing how to hang your hammock, cant go wrong!

I took this hammock for a week in the Amazon and it was absolutely perfect for the occasion. Once I figured out how to sleep all zipped up in a cocoon it was really comfortable and cozy. The material is durable, breathable and great quality. I love this hammock and highly recommend it.However, my partner did not have the same experience as he felt claustrophobic inside the hammock. He would have preferred an open hammock with built-in mosquito net, so this is something to consider if you are not sure about the 'cocoon' model.

First i should mention, i ordered it from seller here on Amazon but i was never delivered, so got from store in my local campingstore. The quality is really great and i think its worth every penny.I did some alterations, that i think it needs though. 1. There are no drip rings on the webbing, as on some of the more expensive models, and im using this mainly in southeast aisa, so need it not to drip into the hammock when raining;-) Other than that, i think its a great piece of kit, and im sure it willold for years to come.

This is my first hammock so I have no experience with other hammocks that I can compare this to but this is a great introduction for me. It's easy to set up and is very comfy to relax/sleep in.I've slept out in this on 3 or 4 separate nights up to now and even though I never sleep on my back in a bed I was fine sleeping on my back in this. (although sleeping on my side is possible in this hammock)I'm 6'1" and 100kg/nearly 16 stone and had zero problems with the length or weight support of this product.

So comfortable...im fully converted! There is a video on the product page at DD that shows how to wrap this around a tree and its so simple. It "stuff packs" (i.e. fist meets bag) back down to roughly the same size and shape. There customer service is fricking amazing as well....i asked a question about stopping me getting wet, thinking there would be some daft product i could buy....they pointed me to a youtube video for using a 'drip-stop'. It works...so simple and just some spare para cord.

Only used this about 20 times despite owning it for a few years, when I have used it, its held up well, and despite weeks in storage in between it doesn't stink. The ropes haven't slipped in the middle of the night and I haven't found myself falling out as a result so all in all pretty happy with it. Only problem I find or have had is putting it away- ripped the opening of the bag on day one, not majorly but my advice, don't force it in by just stuffing it in- if you fold it, it fits.
