My interest in photography means my pro camera puts out a 76Mb file for each RAW image (digital negative not a jpeg). To process the RAW image, editing software like Photoshop is needed. The Photoshop software takes a good 35 seconds on average to load, with another few seconds per image. On my original 8Gb SODIMM system it was a bit longer as pagefile swapping was going on. I upgraded to 16Gb last year, which helped, and now all four memory sockets are filled with this additional 16Gb. On my XPS8930 i5 the installation was simple. If you are new to this, the memory slots have a flick switch at each end. push them outwards, slip the memory module into them, and press down quite firmly,the switches on each slot should both be closed with the pressure, you may hear a click from each. Make sure the card is the correct way around. Also check your computer manual to make sure you have bought the right speed and number of pins, laptop memory has a different pin arrangement to desktops. In performance, the FIRST time I run Photoshop, there is no difference - the first load depends on my hard disk delivering the data, and it is a bottleneck. However, once you have run Photoshop (and any other software) and maybe closed it to do something else, the SECOND run of the software loads really fast. I will stop typing this now, and run Photoshop twice, and give you the load times - 1st run = 36 sec. closed photoshop and re started it - 2nd run = 4 sec. Microsoft Word 2016 first run = 6 sec. second run = 2 sec. So as you can see, with such a large reserve of RAM available, your computer responds quickly on the second loading of software. This is because most of the code for your software remains in RAM memory even after you close it, so the second run just requires some basic elements to be re-loaded from hard disk, while the bulk of the software is already loaded into fast RAM memory. To overcome the load speed bottleneck issue I still have, I have bought from Amazon a Sandisk 1Tb 3D NAND SSD (Solid State Drive) This will be used to clone my slow hard disk, and the load times for the first load, thereafter, should be close to the second load times I am seeing now. The times for the Second load, with my new SSD installed are likely to be pretty much instant. A hard disk reads data out into RAM at low speeds due to the fragmentation and consequential seek times. Photoshop, for example, consists of hundreds of small files all needing to be 'assembled' in order, and loaded into RAM. Each one of these small files could be fragmented on the hard drive due to the daft way Windows has always stored data on them. Defragmentation helps, but two days after you do that, it needs to be done again as many of your favourite apps have been loaded and fragmented again. SSD drives have no moving parts so can access data instantly. The typical speed of a hard disk is to read data at around 20 - 30 megabytes per second (depending on brand, size, and rotation speed). The SATA SSD drives read at 340 megabytes per second! The newer M.2 SSD Drives can hit over 3000 megabytes per second!. Be careful, only quite recent motherboards have an M.2 slot on them - but mostly anything less than 3 years old will have SATA 3 (SATA III) connections for a SATA SSD. The point I am making is that you should not expect miracles if you ONLY upgrade your RAM memory. I have spent in all, around 170 pounds, the memory 56 and the rest on the drive, a drive caddy and a cable. The computer will run like a rocket when the drive gets here later this week, Look at reviews on SSD drives, and look at CLONING your hard drive, so you don't have to install windows and all your stuff manually. Once you have cloned it you can unplug your main hard drive, tell the computer bios to use the SSC as the 'boot' drive. (access by tapping F2 on the keyboard on my Dell as it starts up). It is quite simple. Oh yes, if you do this, look at youtube 'how to install an SSD' and download cloning software - Macrium Reflect - it is free to dowload and use the home version. Get the RAM but get an SSD too! You'll think your computer has changed from a Ford Fiesta into a Porsch!

The packaging:I ordered the 32GB kit which consisted of 2x16GB DDR4-2666 UDIMM sticks. They come in plastic packaging to keep them safe for transport. The packaging is able to be opened by hand which is a huge positive for me as quite often things like this come in plastic packaging which has no discernible opening and which must be opened by either knife or scissors through a layer of plastic then prised apart. Not so with this. Just insert your finger into the packaging and then open away. Excellent. The only improvement they could make to this would be for some more environmentally sound packaging.The memory itself:Please, please, please, check what RAM your motherboard and CPU supports before ordering it.If you do that, then I have no doubt that it will just work straight out of the box. Crucial does a great job of providing a compatibility checker on it's own website which I would highly recommend checking out before ordering any RAM.The installation:This couldn't be more simpler. Locate the correct RAM slots on your motherboard (this is going to vary by motherboard supplier), pull on the tabs to open up the slots and then click in the RAM sticks into each slot. If you are installing 2 RAM sticks into 2 slots, this is fairly straight forward. If you have 4 slots like I did, then make sure you're populating the correct two slots - again, check the manual of your motherboard for details here. If you already had a RAM stick in any of the slots that you're using, take it out before installing any RAM. There is a correct orientation of the RAM stick, if you look at the bottom of the stick, you'll notice there is a notch in it, which is slightly off centre. Use this notch to line up the RAM stick into the RAM slot and press it in. It can feel quite firm, so don't be scared, it should just be able to press in with a click by firmly pressing down on both sides of the RAM stick.Conclusion:If you want/need more RAM, this is a great, low cost option for adding some extra memory into your system. You'll notice a lot of improvement if you're coming from a lot less RAM (I went from 8GB to 32GB). The sorts of improvements you can expect are better performance of multi tasking which is absolutely essential for someone like me who has many processes running at the same time. Also, if you're a Chrome Tab lover, you can't get enough RAM.

After buying my Omen desktop gaming PC for serious flight sims with a n RTX 2070 graphics card there was just one thing wrong with it. Only 8GB of RAM and that just wasn't going to cut it. HP had confirmed that my warranty would not be invalidated by upgrading the RAM . After viewing RAM compatibility sites and checking it was DDR 4 I went with this ( 2 times 16) . Viewing You Tube videos it looked easy enough to put in the 2 new RAM cards. Even the glass side door of the Omen PC was as simple as pushing a side button and it popped out.Flipping up the end clips of the existing RAM card it easily popped out and then it was just a question of disconnecting power and slotting the new cards in and reconnecting power.I will admit it took me 5 times but what I needed to ensure is that the RAM cards were fully in and that meant that the end clips fully looked into the end card cut outs.Once I had done this and booted up the PC a message came up saying BIOS ………. and enter and I thought here we go …… but even without pressing enter it went through 3- 4 sec of re booting and bang there was my home screen.Speed ( even without gaming is very very much faster and I'm very pleased) and of course saving myself 60 quid installation. Very happy.

Just because this isn’t a gaming brand or advertised as gaming ram, it is spot on, you could get faster clock rates rather than 2666. But this does for any gaming needs. Will do for any software needs as long as you have enough ram for the game / programs. I’ve played COD Warzone, GTAV, rocket league and many others. All with good loading times.Perfect for a budget gaming pc.Perfect for a high end gaming pc.Perfect for an office pc.Perfect for any pc that requires DDR4.Don’t waste your money on “high end” brands because you’re paying for the name.I say this because I previously bought hyperX ram for an older build and I cannot notice a difference between that ram and this crucial ram.Yet I paid 1/3 the price this time for 2x the amount.

I bought these to increase my new HP Ryzen 5 Desktop to 16GB. Straightforward installation although my desktop is a smaller midi type, so big hands in small places can be a little tricky, patience is the word here. This additional memory has worked perfectly well and so has the reason for installing it too. This increase has allowed me to turn off the windows ssd virtual page memory, which has given a sight speed increase on load screens, particulate on the game I play. Why pay all the extra for a 16GB system when you can get an 8GB and easily upgrade the other 8GB yourself with a good cost saving ? A total breeze to install and reliable performance, this type of upgrade is a no Brainer!

The memory chip was reasonably well packed when it arrived.Installation would normally be easy but as I installed it in a Dell Inspiron compact desktop it took quite an effort to get it it in as I had to remove the hard disk as the free memory slot was under was under the disk,The rating for (Easy to install) reflects the Dell computer not the product.Once installed everything worked fine as it was the exact match to the existing installed memory.

Works well with my Kaby Lake G4560 and allowed the Intel graphics to run at there best. Also runs amazingly with my Geforce GTX 1050. For the price they are amazing and work incredibly well if you have them in dual channel. The reason they lost a star is because they are ridiculously ugly if you have a window on your case and can completely ruin the design of your build but they are some of the cheapest sticks on the market.

Easy to install and upgrading from 8gb to 16gb has certainly made a notable difference to the operating speed of my computer. Whilst the computer has recognised that it is not the same as the existing (Samsung) Ram, I have not noted any problems whatsoever. Not cheap by any means, however, if you are performing memory intensive processes, it is highly recommended!

Bought this as my new PC only had 4GB and was looking for a cheap upgrade. Used the Crucial memory scanner and it listed this as a replacement. Found it nearly £30 cheaper on Amazon. Took about two minutes to fit and guess what it works . Just as well I couldn't have written this review. (I would have put the old one back and left a bad review instead)

Bought this as an upgrade for my PC and everything seems to be working great. It's a basic module, so not going to win any prizes for looks, but works perfectly and the upgrade has definitely helped when working on large images files.

It was the cheapest i could find and a brand name Crucial good name best price just over £40 hassle free. used in B250 Mining Expert so far no problems. stay tuned..
