Definitely one of the best pens made by Cross. Although large and heavy, especially if used with the cap posted, it writes beautifully and is comfortable in the hand. Although general personal preference is to use fountain pens posted, this is one of the few where posting is considered impractical and undesirable - it becomes too long and too top-heavy (the cap weighs almost as much as the rest of the pen). The body is also quite broad but overall well-proportioned. It is a recent purchase in part prompted by the performance of the smaller and lighter Century II which it resembles.Cartridge-fed out of the box, the filler-converter (8751) is not always provided but can be purchased separately if required.

I must admit that I do not enjoy writing with a ball point pen... They are convenient but, for me, to get the full enjoyment I use a fountain pen. I suppose this goes back to my days at school when we only had imnk pens...ball point pens were still a new discovery.Cross make excellent fountain pens. I have found mine to be great to hold as the balance is right for me. It is excellently made and gives me pleasre to use it.If you have never, or rarely, used a fountain pen I would suggest that you try one, preferably a Cross, and see how you feel after using it. Iam sure that some will be impressed and, possibly. move over to using one rather than a ballpoint pen!

A really nice pen. I bought it as a gift for my other half and she was delighted with it. Delivery was very quick too and very much appreciated as this was purchased around Christmas time. The pen looks great - very stylish, particularly the very fine lines/grooves that run down the body and the contrast between the gold and chrome. It's not a light pen, but for that reason it's great to write with as there is a reassuring weight behind it. The only very minor criticism is the Cross box that comes with it. It's quite large for a pen box and so doesn't fit easily into small bags/purses - but this is a very minor issue and doesn't detract from the purchase.

Purchased Cross Townsend Medalist, chrome with gold accent, Nov 2019. The pen feels great with sufficient weight when cap is on back of pen. Out of the box, the gold plated medium nib provides smooth as butter writing.The real bonus is the pen cover has a very snug fit over the nib and provides an air tight seal. The Ink has not dried out over many months of infrequent use. To start ink flow to the nib has been effortless by simply pointing the nib towards the writing pad.

I didn't buy this pen from amazon, however I felt I was compelled to write review since somebody gave it two stars for having a loose lid. This isn't true of the pen I purchased and therefore must have been faulty, I have had my pen for 5 years and no issue with a loose lid at all, it is well designed and balanced well, it is quite heavy but doesn't feel awkward to write with.

I am loving my new pen although be warned that it doesnt have the reservoir inside that holds the ink. These are available separately. Cross tell me that they stopped doing them last year.My dealings with Cross over this matter has been a great suprise, its not often that customer service is so good. So its good to have a quaility pen backed up by great service.

A nice swish pen, very sturdy and does the job perfectly. If you like a light pen, then this one is not for you, as there is a weight to it which can be detrimental if you are into plastic biro's. But if you like something sturdy and swish, then this is for you.On the upside, it can be engraved (had mine done) and this then makes a great personalised gift.

A well balanced, elegant pen, that writes smoothly. It has a nice weight, the black lacquer shows off the gold fittings in a striking way. This pen should be a good one if you are doing any essayist work.But, mine came without any form of guarantee, or paperwork of any kind.

Brilliant pen - bought this as a gift and it was well received. Well designed, writes beautifully and has a very good grip (I find this important in a pen!) - Nice case too. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Bought for a friends 21st Birthday present, who, was delighted with it! Cross have a "Lifetime" guarantee and are wonderful writing instruments. Very good value "Highly recommended"

An amazing fountain pen with the quality of cross so balanced so nice writing instrument and this time extra value for money. I am a huge fan of cross what a brand!!!

I didn't like the fact you have to buy the insert to allow you to use bottled ink separately and that is not explicit in the details to start with.

I have already had one of these before. This one is a bargain for a top quality pen. I have few of Cross pens and they are all fantastic machine.

Bought this to match the Cross ballpoint pen I use every day......it is a heavy pen but balances well in the hand and looks the business...

As a fan of fountain pens this is undoubtedly my favourite pen. The weight is perfect, nib is great and its just a joy to write with.
