Pros:I bought this pen as a gift and was very happy with it when it arrived. I was giving this to someone who is getting into business and wanted a professional looking impressive product that didn't cost the earth.Cross pens I have had in the past and I think they are really good products and this was no different. On receipt of the item it came very well packaged and presented in a dark brown gift box with the brand name on with the pen neatly packaged inside. It really looked the part for a gift. The pen itself is a really nice quality product. Quite often with pens the belt clip can easily become wobbly or fall off and often the screw mechanism controlling the nib of the pen can also become loose. On this product straight away it feels strong and the build quality is excellent for the money.Con's:The pen I think is too heavy and too chunky. Although the product is good quality and it will last a long time it is just too heavy and chunky for my liking. This is personal preference however for me it is very wide for a hand to fit comfortably around it to write comfortably.Overall I would recommend the product hence the 4 star rating, however be aware it is definitely for people who prefer heavier writing instruments!

Cross Edge Rollerball Gel Pen (Blue Barrel) made by Cross is one beautiful pen which I have to say it writes like a dream. The pen is as smooth and from the first letter, I had written I immediately could understand why so many people love this brand of pen workmanship. The pen mechanism is unique to me personally as I have never seen a pen which opens the writing nib like this one. To operate I simply slide the two ends of the pen (in opposite directions), this manoeuvre actually lengthens the pen which for me makes it more comfortable to hold as it balances better.I love this pen mainly because of the excellent writing experience, as the pen nib simply glides along the page with no disturbances as my writing continues. It is a pleasure to own and write with this pen.Cross Edge Rollerball Gel Pen is a beautiful pen inside and out which makes it very easy for me to recommend. This would make a lovely present for yourself or for someone you know would see the quality radiating out of this great sample of pen workmanship.

I've always preferred to use a rollerball type pen and I've used a few different makes but there's one thing that I find slightly annoying - having to remove a cap before use (I've read that this is because rollerball ink is water based so if you pop it into a pocket with the point out the ink will seep out into your clothes). Cross have designed a rollerball with a retractable refill and a pocket clip that is not usable in writing mode - superb, and another superb for the way they have done it: pull each end of the pen apart and the point comes out, push back together and the point retracts. It all feels built to last as well. To me almost £30 on a pen (including delivery)is a bit over the top (I know you can spend a lot lot more!) but it does feel special - its smooth and gives a solid ink colour. The barrel of the pen is good to hold as well. The supplier: Webster's Pen Shop are brilliant with a quick and professional service. All highly recommended if like me you like to write with a quality rollerball.

Great pen. Gel refills produce lovely writing. So far still in 1 piece after 6mths- I was wondering about the mechanisms' longevity.Paint has worn off brass rear end, despite being used mainly on the desk & not in & out of pockets which would produce more wear. Chrome also chipping off from the clip. I guess I tend to play with pen a little which may explain the wear, but on Cross' website they suggest that the pen is very tactile & imply it will be played with, so they should have made it to a higher standard to avoid these problemsChrome plating at tip shows no signs wear & barrel dense heavy plastic, so should not have any problems there.Despite signs of wear, still lovely pen & would recommend- planning to purchase some more!

I'm only gonna give it 4 stars.I had the silver version and absolutely loved it. Nice mechanism, looked the part and absolutely gorgeous to write with. Kept it in a nice case to keep it looking smart (along with a couple of my other Cross pens). But am gonna dock one star because this evening it has absolutely completely vanished off the planet, no warning, was using it one moment and the next it was gone. Taken the sofa apart, retraced my steps around the house, interrogated the cat, but all to no avail, it has just completely instantaneously disappeared. So, just treated myself to the blue version for 13 quid off've Amazon and cannot wait for it to arrive tomorrow :-)

I have been a fan of Cross since I bought my first one back in the seventies and their lifetime guarantee has always been a big plus when purchasing a pen.Time was right to buy a Rollerball and Cross were the first company I sought out.Love the red colour and the sliding mechanism has a nice smooth action. It's nice and chunky and well balanced and has a good weight and feel in the hand. The finish is excellent even down to the detail of the cut-away for the clip.Smooth writing action with no clogging or smearing and the rollerball can be changed to a ballpoint. This is now my everyday pen,a little different from the rest and well worth the price.

Bigger, heavier and fatter than I expected but a good pen for all that. I've had Cross pens for many years but this is my first rollerball. It's a Selectip so you can replace the rollerball with a ballpoint if you prefer and I think there's even a highlighter available (yellow) for this model. I was a little concerned that it would dry up, being capless but it seems OK. The inky end fully retracts when the pen is in the closed position although it's a little strange to pull it open and push it shut. And I just love this red, satin finish.

My best friend's son turned 18 so I got this for him as coming of age present. I'm so glad I did - he's so happy with it!As a student, he's pretty much been a Bic shareholder and I thought a nice pen would be a good present. Cross have a good name, and my wife loves her Cross gel pen, so this seemed like a no-brainer. Looks a little like a Mont Blanc, has a funky action and writes beautifully. After giving it to him, he went off and used it right away with a big smile on his face despite doing study work. Perfect.

The new black Cross Edge pen is a welcome addition to the list of pens marketed by Cross. Although looking bulky at first sight its weight is not a problem and it fits well into the hand. It shortens into writing position and the barrel lengthens at rest, both movements cleanly accomplished with a discrete click. The only downside so far is a tendency for the tip of the pin to recede slightly into the barrel on prolonged writing, although the writing remains vivid and clear. It has a lifetime guarantee.TR

Great looking pen - the black body complemented by the chrome trim is just quality, and that extends to the writing too - very smooth even line with the rollerball refill makes this an absolute pleasure to write with, easily as good as any other pen I have used. Novel mechanism to expose the writing tip (pull the cap and the body extends to open, then clicks shut) and it fills my hand perfectly in use. Feels solid, but certainly not at all heavy, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this.

Very nice pen, smooth feel and it just glides across the paper. Was very happy with it until the plastic started to crack around the bottom (towards tip) of the pen after just a few weeks of use and it worsened until I had to throw it in the bin. Not sure if I dropped it but the plastic seems to be a bit flimsy which is a shame because it's probably the best pen I have owned to write with. Currently weighing up whether or not to buy another one.

A Christmas present from my son, I love this. My first pen from Cross and I am very pleased with it. It comes in a lovely black and white presentation box complete with warranty/leaflet about replacing refills. The pen is a little chunkier than I expected but when you open it up for use (you slide the pen to reveal the nib and slide it back to retract it)it looks less so. Never the less it is comfortable to hold and writes smoothly.

I love this pen. A nice weight and with no separate cap to deal with it's great to have clipped on to my Organiser. The way it pulls open and then closes with a satisfying click is almost addictive. Well worth the money and to stop my husband from 'borrowing' mine when I wasn't looking I have now bought him one of his own.No problems what so ever with this supplier and my pens arrived well within the predicted delivery dates.

My partner bought me one of these three years ago. I thought I had lost it so she bought me another one for my birthday. I found the original last week. I now have two of these brilliant pens. I have a full set of Mont Blanc meistersticks but the edge wins by a mile. I like the weight and feel of the pen and the quirky push pull action. It is easily the best pen I have ever owned.

I love my pens! I am always on the lookout for the latest and greatest. I own many cross pens ( the ones I can afford), but this little beauty has my attention. I use it all the time and love its whole design, look and feel. Well done Cross, you have done it again. Whats on the drawing board to try next? Although I would be hard-pressed to put down my Cross Edge in a hurry!
