I have been writing with a Townsend fountain pen since 1999 (after seeing a billboard advertising the pen as being "Millenium 3000 Compliant"). I use it regularly and refill almost daily - it is never out of my hand.The pen looks good and has a substantial weight - so you know you are holding a real tool and not some cheap, plastic toy. The nib produces a good clean line and can be used at different angles to produce lines of varying thickness. I use the screw-in refill converter rather than cartridges (much more cost effective given my heavy useage) and it can employ any good quality ink (I always write in dark brown).Inevitably, with a tool that is so heavily used, there are maintenance issues.

The pen is, naturally, stark white with black furniture, and the finial has the mesh pattern of the communicator on the helmet. It's a very simple design but elegantly so, just like the stormtrooper armour for which it is named.A good fountain pen is not as random or clumsy as a ballpoint; it is a more elegant writing instrument from a more civilized age. Even so, a bad writing experience will ruin even the best-looking fountain pen.The Townsends are slim, which is a Cross design hallmark, but not so slim as to be uncomfortable to use for extended writing sessions. The section is plastic, which I prefer, and offers a solid grip. The caps post solidly, but being solid brass,

Absolutely wonderful, the pen has the quality of Cross Townsend. It is very balanced fountain pen with the correct weight for every day use. The fine nib is exactly what I was looking for, which it comes in a very luxurious box with the guarantee and Historical details of Cross. Plus it comes with 2 black refills in a small box. The specific fountain pen has the classic colours of Cross with the beautiful details of Townsend Series. It is the pen for me it is an investment to enjoy the writing on a daily basis

Having found the cross classic century a little slim for long writing, I decided to take a punt on their larger flagship design. The design is classic and professional, perfect for business setting and the pen itself is well built and solid feeling. Lifetime warranty against defects is also a great bonus. Be warned, the price does fluctuate and differs a lot from the cross website so keep an eye. For the right price it is a great ballpoint.

Really happy with my purchase. The pen is lovely - it has a softer nib than say, a more "scratchy" Mont Blanc and is very easy to write with. Ink flow is great and it feels nice in the hand - not too heavy. Writes beautifully. Looks great and service etc was great. If you want a quality pen but balk at paying Mont Blanc prices this is a good option.

This is my second Cross Townsend. My first was a Lapis one and love it. This seems to be just as well made and the medium 18ct nib is nearly as smooth as my first, may just need running in. I have some Parker pens that scratch their way across a page in comparison. Delivery was within 36hrs.

This is my third of these and still I think the best pen on the market. Beautifully finished and weighted. The lacquer is a joy. So much more original and interesting than the ubiquitous Mont Blanc. The gold plate wears off eventually so it's worth investing in a case.

The cross Townsend fountain pen, is quite Large. It is more suitable for men with a big hand. it is weighty yet has a good balance. The 18k nib, writes quite smoothly with a decent ink flow. Overall a nice classic pen that is built to last

Lovely pen - the usual high standard for a Cross Pen.The pen arrived well packed within the time frame. It came in a beautiful presentation box so it would make a nice present for a graduation, new job etc.

I bought this for a birthday present for my mum. She is delighted with it. She says it is very good quality and a good weight.I chose this because it is a good brand and the price was a bargain!

I'm very satisfied! The pen is beautiful, the package it comes in is also great, and the writing is very smooth. Darth Vader/Star Wars fan or not, this is a great gift for you or to offer.

Lovely to look at and really comfortable to use. Recommended. A bit pricey but if you love writing instruments this pen is worth buying.

Lovely pen, had one for 10 years before it died with daily use. Decent weight & width.
