Our pack of "First Markers" has been through two children now and still going strong. (Although the box has required a lot of tape!) My son always disliked crayons and pencil crayons when he started drawing because he couldn't press hard enough to make nice bright marks. These pens worked well from the start drawing-wise. They're very easy to scribble with as long as the pen is held reasonably upright, which is what most toddlers manage without too much effort. The lids being tough to get off helped because we could sit down together and he'd pass me each one to remove/replace the lid and I'd name the colour as we went.At 20 months, my daughter tends to hold her pens more at an angle and these pens with their rounded nibs frustrate her a bit.On the other hand, when she bashes the tip into the page, the nibs don't get crushed! She's just worked out how to get the lids off, but they're too stiff for her to re-cap so we end up with more of a mess than we do with the Crayola SuperTips markers where she can neatly replace the caps without a problem. From about 3 years, I think it's important to start moving away from the chunky markers as the pencil-grip is something that nursery schools want children to learn, and this type of markers doesn't facilitate that sort of grip. However these are, as the label says, very washable (from clothes and skin) and I'd definitely buy them again for budding toddler artists.

These pens are fantastic. My little boy is 2 and he has no trouble with these. We gave up on crayons and pencils as all he wanted to do was chew on them when teething but he has never tried that with these. The tips are pads and not actually pen nibs which means when he stabs onto paper it causes no damage unlike nibbed pens where the nib would disappear inside. The best thing of all though - superwashable. It doesnt matter how much he gets on his hands or other surfaces, this ink wipes off very easily using baby wipes or just soap and water. I tried a supermarkets own brand of these and regretted it as struggled to wash the ink from his hands. He can get lids off easily and they provide hours of fun for him and easy for us to join in and teach him colours, shapes, numbers, letters - whatever you want really. If I have one niggle its with the shape. Would be better if they could make a shape where they wouldnt keep rolling off table, but that's a minor niggle and I may apply elastic bands to help prevent this.

These are good markers for kids to use. There are many colours and are easy to open/close. The beauty about Crayola is that they designed this range to be easily washable, and hence we have no concerns when my daughter starts drawing on her hands/feet or clothes because it all washes away nicely. We have used these marker pens until I found another range (from Crayola too) which is called the Crayola Pip-Squeaks - Mini Markers. These come with 14 markers/colours (maybe too many), are a great value but more importantly are smaller and more of the appropriate size for the toddlers' small hands and fingers (as well as for putting in a bag and using them on the go). My daughter can control these markers much better. So,the markers in this page are good, but I prefer the Crayola Pip-Squeaks - Mini Markers. Check these before making up your mind.

I bought these markers for my 15 month old daughter and these do precisely what they say. They are easy to hold for tiny hand and they actually do write from every angle. they don't have sharp ends that could injure a toddler, although they do need to be used under supervision. The thing that I liked the best was that you can easily wipe away the marker from just about any surface other than paper (so be careful if your toddler starts drawing on another book). My toddler discovered another use for these markers which was to connect one to the other to make a big stick. She enjoys playing with them a lot.My only issue is that the caps of these markers get lost very easily and hunting them downis a pain when your toddler finds creative ways to hide themOverall a great price for a great product. Recommended for budding artists.

I bought these pens for my son about a year ago to take on a plane with us since they said claimed to be washable without soap and he still loves using them. I have to say, they are round tips so not great for very accurate drawing or colouring, but at his age (3.5) this is not an issue at all, and they do make nice broad lines so he can colour large areas easily. They are nice bright colours and have not dried up at all, but what I love best is how easily they wash off him and anything else. This morning I walked into our living room to find him covered in black pen up to his elbows and our wooden floor similarly covered (he was trying to colour his Thomas magazine but missed a bit!)and with just a couple of wet wipes there was no evidence left of his misdemeanour. I cannot praise these highly enough.

My 16 month old loves drawing but is constantly smashing all his colouring pens nib down and ruining them. I had a search for alternatives one day and found these. As the pens have a flat nib he can't break them and they work well with nice colours. They are washable - I havnt had any problems so far, and when my son is sat in his highchair colouring, any pen he has cotton on the plastic has also wiped off with ease.My only negative comment is that the packet is all in a foreign language, which doesn't bother me too much but I can't confirm these are washable, read any of the guidance or instructions and it obviously makes it unsuitable if you were buying as a gift.I hope this review helps! These are a great idea for little ones starting to enjoy drawing :)

I bought these for my 18 month old daughter last week after having huge success with crayons and pencils but unfortunately it has taken her a while to get used to these and they are often picked last to use.It seems that she holds a crayon/pencil etc. "as an adult would" on the tilt slightly whereas most children starting out will "grab" a pen and scribble in an almost vertical position which if your child does this then these are great and designed for just that but for children that draw like my daughter they will quickly get frustrated at the white rim of the pen hitting the paper first and getting in the way... Hope that made sense?!?!I haven't had any problems washing them off skin or clothes (in a 30deg wash)either which is always a bonus!

These work well. They are brightly coloured and easy to use. My little girl loved them as she didn't need to press down hard like she had to with crayons - they were a much easier first drawing implement. We have found that they are also definitely washable provided you wash the affected item of clothing straight away. The only downside we have found is that the nibs do not stick out very far. We have had to packets of these and found this with both packets. This means that the child has to hold the pen more upright than they old have to normally. But overall, a good purchase. We've had lots of fun with them.Recommended.

I love these pens and my 14 month old does too. The colours are vibrant, the pens seem robust (although do check out the 1 star review- I guess I would always lean toward supervision at a young age)and they really do wash off with water. My LO enjoys colouring herself as much as anything but a quick dip in the bath and it's gone. The colour washes out of clothes at 40 degrees with no need for soaking. I can also vouch for the colour wiping off wooden floorboards and kitchen work-surfaces, so if you have a particularly creative toddler this is a good product for rainy day fun!

I gave those to my son for his first birthday. he only started showing interest at 14 months and absolutely love them. The nib is very short and round so it is great to scribbling and doodling, obviously not so great for when he is older and would like more control to colour inside the lines for instance. They are very good at washing off the sofa, wall or clothes, however if they are too dried-up, the stains won't necessarily go away (tiny mark on my sofa done months ago will always be there as a reminder to always watch your kids. I would really recommend them.

An absolutely superb product. This is the second time that I have purchased them and will only buy these felt tips for my son. Unlike others that claim to be washable, these really are! A baby wipe or will bring them off carpets or furniture and the colour comes off hands easily without the need for harsh scrubbing. They write in any direction, which is brilliant as most toddlers haven't adapted a writing style so these help. They are chunky, brightly colours with large aerated caps.

Purchased these without reading the reviews, and was a bit worried about the number of people who recommended the Pip-Squeaks over these. Ended up buying those too (can never have too many felts!) and both have their advantages. The pip-squeaks are much more managable in small hands, but I like these ones too because of their round nib, rather than pointed. It means my daughter can happily do her crazy swirling on the paper without missing any!Definitely washable, brilliant!

we loved these, my daughter soon got the hang of the using them at 20 months and it's the toy she asks for the most.a big hit. the only note of caution is she insists on using each colour in turn to make one line and then making Mummy recap the pen before using a new one, so creation of Serious Artwork takes an inordinately long time. Mummy gets a bit bored as well, as she tells me off if i try to use her markers or if i'm too slow in recapping them.

Every little girl loves markers and well done Amazon and Crayola for these first markers, eight in a pack. Again Amazon a quick postal service to a remote part of Northern Spain, where there are no landline phones or computers. Three hours drive to use a computer. For a three year she can have plenty of fun with these markers as long as Mum and Dad have plentiful supply of paper!!Another little girl delighted with her Christmas present.

I agree with all the other 5 star reviews. Perfectly washable, very easy to use etc.Just one remark. They really are for BEGINNING, which is fine ofcourse, they are supposed to be for 1 and older. But if you kid is getting a bit better at drawing or colouring inside the lines, I'd wouldn't recommend these as they're not very accurate (very thick lines). I'd go for the Pip-squeaks (also from crayola) for kids aged between 2-3 and up.
