I 've had a lot of research on multifunctional digital watches before i purchase this one.Actually i was checking the Protrek/Pathfinder series as i was looking for an "adventurus" watch, something that would be handy when i swim or work or do outdoor activities. The only problem i've had with Protreks and Pathfinders was that i wouldn't like to swim or be covered in dirt outdoors, while i was wearing a watch that expencive. I would just worry all the time and that's just not the idea of adventure. Besides that, all Protrek and Pathfinders come with just a year warranty (seller's warranty i guess) and there are quite enough low ratings for some serious troubles about parts and functions that made me think twice about purchasing one.I love the twin sensor on the SGW100-1v.It is very very "adventure inspiring". As accurate as a Protrek/Pathfinder i guess, but i prefer an analogue good old compass for setting direction and positioning anyway. For temperature readings the watch should be off your wrist for some minutes. It comes with 2 year INTERNATIONAL warranty, it's 200m water resistant, very easy to use (don't mind what you read about troubles in calibrating, really! just read the instructions man!), beautiful and not as bulky as the triple sensor watches and COSTED ME JUST 35pounds on Amazon!!The only thing i din't like was that "made in China" on the back. It made me worry for a moment but come on... First of all it's a Casio which means that i expect at least 10 years of excellent functioning. Afterall if you want a "made in Japan" Casio you should spent more than 250pounds.I believe that this is one of the most legit products, Casio has to offer. Does what it promises very well and costs nothing!! i suggest it!!

After my expensive watch was damaged while out cycling, I decided I should probably get a good quality everyday watch and save my expensive watch for special occasions. I have had Casio watches in the past, my first ever watch was a Casio and it lasted for years and years so I decided to buy this one.The watch is attractive and in addition to the usual digital watch features, stopwatch, timer, world time etc. this one also has a digital compass and thermometer so I was impressed by the extra functionality that it offered. The strap is comfortable and easy to adjust and has enough ventilation to avoid sweaty skin and the watch itself is comfortable on the wrist. The dial is easy to read and has a button to illuminate the dial in the dark and its just as easy to read at night.I have been very happy with the watch, especially at this price. I haven't awarded 5 stars as the thermometer is not much use while you are wearing the watch as it obviously picks up some body heat and gives an innacurate reading, you really need to take it off and leave it for about 20 minutes before it gives an accurate temperature. The digital compass is also useful although you need to hold the watch completely flat or else the bearing it gives jumps about by up to 30-40 degrees.Other than that, very happy with the watch and will continue to buy Casio watches in the future.

I've be rediscovering my love of Casio watches recently, and this came in to my radar.Lets look at the features for this sub £40 watch:1. 200m Water Resistance2. Electronic Compass3. Temperature Gague4. EL Backlight5. Stopwatch6. Timer7. 5 Alarms8. World TimeSo again, this is a sub £40 watch. Also, Casio has legendary build quality, so the finish is great and indeed the watch looks great. It looks like an expensive "tool" watch.Yes, the compass is not comparable to something with GPS and it takes calibrating, but it's no biggie, I'm not going to steer a boat across the ocean with it. In fact, I have no need for the compass feature, it's just neat tech.Likewise with the thermometer, which is only accurate when it's not on your wrist. The stopwatch is great, you can still see the time whilst you're usinig it and the world time is great if you're travelling. The watch is light and comfortable. It is not a G-Shock, so don't expect it to survive running your car over it, but on the other hand it costs about a 1/3 of a G-Shock with these features.Again, this is a sub £40 watch, and I can only think of one that packs more in for this money...and that's a Casio too.

I had a nice surprise when I opened the package containing the watch this morning. It was a bit bigger than I thought it would be, but not bulky by any means, In fact, it fits all the-info on the watch face, without making it too busy to read. The watch is comfortable on your wrist, and so much so, that you don't know you have it on, Until you need the time that is. I haven't used the compass yet, and may be never will, If you need one of those, then buy one separate from the watch. As for the water resist, Well, it sure holds up to that. I haven't been down 200 mtr's with it, but I have swam in it, and yes, it comes up trumps.Don't expect to find the label G-Shock on it, as although it's a Casio,I would say it's an older model, That's just my guess though. But old-or-not. It sure is the best watch I have had on my wrist. It took me days to look through all the options that Amazon throw at you for this kind of thing, but I'm so glad I found this one. As for it lasting for years to come, Well, going by the other Casio watches I've had, I am holding out lots of hope for it.I hope this helps you to feel safe buying this watch. You will not be un-happy with it...

I normally buy business like watches and I haven't had a digital watch for many years (over 20 or so). But I recently bought this watch and a G-Shock watch. This one being my favourite of the two. It is sufficiently stylish to be able to wear at work as it isn't super bulky like the g-shock. It does however feel sturdy and so far seems to cope well with physical activities and some punishing. So for hiking in the forest, playing golf and physical activities for normal people (I am not young enough to do extreme challenges anymore) this watch is definitely able to cope. It is super easy to read and the light function is very good (the kids love it and want to see the light on daddys watch all the time). The compass and temperature measurements are nice but as per other reviews cannot replace the real deal so don't go throwing your compass away. So for me this is a great watch - instead of forking out hundreds on a nice analogue business like watch I spent a reasonable sum on a watch that I can use for most everyday activity.

Ok, it's my first wrist watch after a looong time so I'm quite excited with it, but I'll try to be as objective as possible. The Pros :- Seems durable, height of the surrounding ring seems adequate to protect from most accidental scratches.- Large time display, world clock, many alarms, stopwatch and countdown timer, I don't think there's anything missing time-wise.- The compass is quite accurate after calibration and you can program it to point to the actual North :D- The thermometer is perfect for the use I wanted it (underwater), and it can be calibrated !- I love the backlight, as it illuminates only the digits which make them extremely readable. The Cons :- The compass calibration process seems tricky but is rather simple.Just turn around 2 times aaaaand press a button! RTFM and you'll be fine!- The thermometer is inaccurate when wearing, you have to take it out and let it rest for a while before it takes correct readings.I don't think there's anything else..All in all I love it!

I was looking for a compass primarily, for use in my day job. I'm forever getting mixed up with n/s/e/w so thought that would help. Then i came across this watch and im glad that i did!It has a compass on, alarms, stop watch, count down timer, light, world time and also tells the time :)The compass might not be bang on 100% accurate, but for something i need to glance at to get my rough bearings, its just what i need.Calibrating the compass is one of the easiest things i've ever done.. set the buttons then just rotate the watch twice - keeping the flashing arrow away from you then its done for 100 days!It isn't too big or bulky for my slight(ly girly) wrists, and is nice and light. All in all,i give it 5/5 and will wear it all the time! The only issue i had was deciding whether to get this one with the plastic strap or the 3vef with the canvas strap - i went for the 'black resin' strap and have no regrets!

I bought this watch duty-free in Glasgow en-route to Australia recently. I had been looking at the Casio Protrek range for sometime but decided that they are just too expensive. Then I saw this one, dual sensor, with compass and thermometer, the two features I particularly wanted, and for a good price. While it is NOT one of the Protrek range (it is incorrectly titled), it is a good, solid attractive watch. My disappointment is due to the limited capability of the thermometer. You will not get an accurate reading while wearing it and thus need to remove it and let it adjust to the surroundings, which takes about 15 mins. The compass is also inaccurate, despite numerous recalibrations, comparing it to a stand-alone compass. Despite it's misgivings, it is a steal at this price - I paid about AUD89, and found it in shops in Oz for AUD199-249. For that reason alone, I am pleased :-)

I rated this watch 4 stars. Still find it a bit irksome and sometimes confusing that the month and date are still presented in reversed order for the British marketplace.Timing is a little out. My watch gained a second in its first fortnight. I expected better calibration for the price and per Casio's digital electronics expertise and reputation. The viewing angle of the LCD screen makes it easy to misread the time shown on the watch face unless it is viewed within 30deg. of directly from above. The compass and thermometer features are more gimmicky than functional for most users and perhaps not really worth the extra outlay, but they do work.I go swimming with my Casio watches so appreciate the 200M water-resistance (no one says "waterproof"),and underwater alarms.Grumbles aside, it's nice to have a rugged timepiece back on my wrist since the retirement of my DW-280.

Awesome watch, had mine for 3 years and the only thing that has broken is the strap! and that's only very recently. The watch itself is great, some nice features including a compass which isn't by any means a proper compass but it will give you rough bearing where you point it, so long as take a little time to calibrate it properly. But by far my favorite feature is how tough it is, my watch has survived the Royal Marines brutal 'mud run', has dove down to 40m, has been ran over by a car, dropped/smashed/bumped/scraped more times than i remember, and the only thing that it has to show from it is abit of the paint coming off the plastic and a few tiny scratches on the screen (but they're hardly noticeable). If you want a tough watch, don't buy a bulky/heavy G-shock, get this watch it can take a hell of a beating!Good work Casio, keep it up.

I spent a long time searching for the right watch for me, sadly this is not it. Whilst the majority of the settings are great, and easy to navigate, the single most important factor I was looking for as the thermometer function. This sadly has not lived up to expectations. I am an open water swimmer and I wanted a watch to tell me the water temperature. It seems all the other watches I have looked at, GPS trackers, tri athlete watches (garmins and the like) etc, all great for sea swimming, BUT no thermometer!!! (as an open water swimmer I am obsessed with the temperature) I'll stick with swimming in this watch for now, as the timer is good, and the clarity of the face is brilliant, its a bit big for my wrist but to be expected. Just a shame this function is far from useful for me. Good looking watch too!

This watch is perfect! I can read the face easily in all kinds of light, the night light is perfect as it is a negative type of display. The time and date are darkened in and the area around is lit up. I wear reading glasses and most watches are impossible to read without the glasses on. Not this watch! I can see it without the aid of readers. It is easy to wear easy to see and at £35 it was a bargain. I love Casio and the watches I own are all Casio. I have a solar model that is over 8 years old and it is still working fabulously. As for the compass - it works. As for the temperature - it works and while they are nice little distractions for me not overly important but they do work as advertised.I really do find this watch a pleasure to wear.It looks good works great AND it's a Casio!

I have had this watch for nearly 2 years now and only take it off on very rare occasions. I'll be brutally honest about this watch. I use it for scuba diving and have treated it quite badly at times. I have been to the bottom of Stoney Cove on numerous occasions and I dive in winter as well as summer. Screen size is excellent and the light is fine. I have dived in the sea off the coast of Cornwall and Gibralta with no issues. I use the stop watch for deco. The compass needs to be calibrated about every 3 months although I suspect every watch is different and the temp can be a bit slow to catch up. For the price this watch is great. Only real down side, the strap is naff.I changed mine for a heavy duty velcro one.

The watch replaces an aged Casio triple sensor Seapathfinder.I love the new watch for:a) the alarms and stopwatch which (as for my earlier watch) make a good sailing watch never mind getting you up in the morningb) the clear nightime illuminationc) the compass although display time is a bit short compared to my old watch (it always helps to get the chart pointing the right way if you are a bit lost)d) not as clunky as my old watch (but still easy to read)f) good valueI may miss the tide and barometer functions on my old watch but to be honest tide tables and weather forecasts are more use. The temperature function never seemed much use on either watch as it largely reflects your wristtemperature.

This is my second one of these watches - its really great. I have worn my first daily for about 2 and a half years - it's still going strong but the strap has split - and (this is the one down side) it has to have a Casio original strap because of the fittings - the strap itself is a reasonable price but with the pins and bars needed to fit it, it's about £18 - and I found the watch on offer for only £30 so just bought a new watch. That said I will probably buy a new strap for the old one and try and fit it myself - then I will have a spare!Other than thqt I cannot fault this watch - I wear it swimming, at the beach, in the sauna, steam room etc - FANTASTIC!!
