So, I'd used this pen prior to buying it so I guess it's kind of cheating to say I'd known I'd love it this whole time? Regardless, this pen is brilliant, has that deliciously soft, blue colour and glides greatly against both my Clairfontaine paper as well as regular, low quality school paper.The ink rolled out much nicer than I'd remembered ballpoints to do so, and was generally a pleasurable writing experience that I have to say, I had the honour of having.I had become a fountain pen snob for a year or so and after having borrowed this pen for an exam and a lesson or two, I had fallen in love with it.

This pen is a solid, well-engineered piece of kit that writes smoothly as you'd expect from Caran d'Ache. The refill is enormous so it should last for ages.These Caran d'Ache metal range ballpoints are easy to grip and write with for extended periods. The fluo(rescent) barrel colours are incredibly vivid and, I'm assured, will not fade for a very long time. I've just acquired the yellow version which is actually more of a pale green colour but none the worse for that. It's even more eye-catching than the orange version I own.To sum up, look no further if you want a sturdy, dependable durable pen that you're unlikely ever to mislay due to the intensely bright colour. These are my favourite pens for the above reasons.

And its Goliath ink refill goes on forever. Have bought 2 extra Goliath black ink refills (2 in pack), and is much cheaper than Caran d'Ache website. Mine is fluorescent pink. Love its colour. Made from extruded aluminium this 849'er feels weighty, but sits beautifully in my hand. Arrived in only a cellophane bag, but nevermind, it's a beautiful pen and will last me a very long time. I also bought husband the black POP 849'er which is arriving in a slim, but beautiful case, so it can be put back inside when not in use. Its case is hinged, the ballpoint pen sits nicely inside, so being a pen appreciator he will be well pleased.

I'm a magpie for picking up pens and pencils and how can you miss a bright orange one! Found on a pavement and thrown in a drawer.Looking for a pen recently and this one was there, well, what a find! Love the colour as its easy to keep track of but such a nice weight to hold and so smooth.Got a black cartridge and they're a little expensive but so nice to use! Always been a Parker jotter user for years but these are a little bit special! Ordered two more in other colours as so pleased! Worth the money. Only slight issue is paint seems to chip but that was like it when I found it. Seems very robust otherwise.

This is a really nicely made pen for the money. The design is classic and the Caran d'Ache refills write beautifully. The 849 is a thin pen but this fluoro version actually has a slightly thicker barrel than my black 849. The difference is small (perhaps 1mm), but you can feel it. In summary I would have no hesitation to recommend this to anybody looking for a thin pen with a quality feel.

First, the colour, it’s very bright, seems to be a paint lacquer finish. Standard 849 construction, now my default ballpoint pine for work and home. Mine has a slight roughness when clicking, likely it’s the spring rubbing on the inside of the pen body. Would recommend despite the clicker as the aesthetic design of the pen is fantastic.

I keep this as my 'handbag' pen & keep it in sight at all times if I ever loan it out! It's just fun, it's bright orange & easy to spot. Is it the best pen in the world? Don't know - but it is a happy pen :o) The cartridge that came with it didn't last long, but a replacement has lasted a while longer.

It writes like a dream, (shame I don't!). It is solidly made and is easily found because of its colour. My only gripe, if I absolutely have to have one, is that you can't see when the ink is running low so you have to have a refill with you at all times. I know, a minor niggle !

This is so bright I am having to wear sunglasses to write! I kept loosing my "tactical" black Fisher pen so ordered one of these. Writes brilliantly and should be impossible to miss when dropped in the dark.

Love these little pens and now have this yellow pen as well as an orange pen. Comes with a Goliath ball pen cartridge which lasts ages. Quality product in a contemporary design.

Purchased this pen for my best friend for christmas and she loves it. She says it writes very smoothly & is comfortable to use. Wish I'd bought one for myself !

Nice colour, lovely writing - Caran D'Ache quality!My only whinge is about the packaging...wraped in paper and selotape, not nice.I expected more from Amazon.

These pens are fab, they are ergonomically brilliant to use and I love the colour of this one I would have one in every colour if I could afford it!!

Bought as present for hubby....he loves it and the goliath refills last and last. Smooth, no blobbing like a certain other brand.

For us who are brought up with the classic Caran d'Ache Fixpencil is Caran d'Ache 849 Metal Range Ball Pen amazing.
