I'm not quite sure what a pen has to do to qualify as a gel pen. These Bic pens are very much like biros with .7mm rollerball nibs, and their ink is vibrant, free-flowing and seems a tiny bit metallic when you're writing with it, but when it dries the metallic effect can't be seen. You get 16 pens in a really nice range of colours. The colours are generally very intense, although you do get a brown one which is actually quite tasteful. Each pen has a transparent coloured plastic body, and you can unscrew the section near the nib which allows you to take out the spring-loaded ink cartridge, and slide of the rubber-like grippy bit that you hold while you're writing. Each pen weighs 11 grams. The first thing you have to do after removing each pen from the plastic box is remove a little plastic globule that seals the ink in the pen during transit. These globules are worryingly similar to micro-plastic.The sixteen pens are supplied in a transparent thin rigid plastic case that weighs 30 grams and arrays the pens in two rows of eight, and the total package weight including pens is 205 grams. A proportion of this weight is made up of the ink contained inside each pen, and the tiny weight of the sixteen metal springs. The rest is plastic, most of which is going to end up in recycling or landfill. The package is market with the PET recycling logo which means it's made from polyethylene terephthalate. When PET appears in the recycling marketplace the colourless and light blue post-consumer PET attracts higher sales prices than the darker blue and green fractions. The mixed color fraction which is what we're dealing with in the case of these Bic pens is the least valuable. In summary, these are really nice colourful gel pens that write with free-flowing attractive inks and are comfortable to hold in your hand. But they're made from a big hunk off plastic that has a dubious future when they come to be recycled.

These gel pens write smoothly once the protective cap/seal is removed - on some the seal did not come away in one piece and it was fiddly to get all the bits off, and if it is not all removed the pens are scratchy so it’s worth the effort to remove it all. There is a good range of colours, as shown in the picture. The purple and dark blue are very dark, almost black. For most colours, the pen body/soft grip helps identify the colour of the ink but the lilac and purple pens and the red and orange pens are so similar in body colour it is easy to mix them up. When the colour needs to be precise, test on a scrap paper first!I use these for making individual cards and they give a professional finish as they dry quickly and do not smudge easily. The pens are very comfortable to hold and the soft grip makes using them for long periods far less tiring, especially for anyone with arthritis, young children, etc.The retractability is useful for when these are in a pencil case or pocket and the retract mechanism is easy to operate one handed.Overall, these are useful, easy to use gel pens in attractive colours, they are suitable for a wide age range and make an ideal gift for crafters, children, letter writers, etc.

I love pens, ink and paper, and these gel pens are very pleasing, and will enliven various bits of sometimes tedious work .The pens are nice to hold, arranged in a not particularly pleasant sharp rigid plastic wallet- the kind that small IT stuff is often encased in, and which has you swearing a lot as you cut it to get at the whatever. At least this opened easily. The pens themselves were beautifully arranged in graduated shade order.I was afraid 0.7 might be quite thick (I often prefer 0.5) but it was fine for my writing. The click top should stop dry out. Each pen also has a little cover on the tip which you need to pinch off, again to protect from dry out.I had to uncap each, just to try out the lovely shades. All but the pale yellow are shades which are easily readable on white paper. The inks do not bleed through to the other side of paper, and flow is even so, all in all these get my high five easily.

When I first looked at this set of 16 multi-coloured ball point pens I thought they were expensive. However, with 16 in a pack they are actually set at a fair price. As noted, you get 16 pens with ink that is more or less the same colour as the translucent plastic pen barrel. So the shades run through the rainbow from blue, magenta, green, orange and yellow. The pens have a rubber grip to make holding each pen easier and the the nibs retract.I guess I'd question whether anyone would use all of the colours in the pack - the yellow colours are fairly difficult to see on white paper for example, as is the light green. These pens are definitely a cut above the standard cheap biro. Worth four stars, one deducted for some of the colours which have limited use.

Bic is probably the first name that comes to mind when looking for ballpoint pens. The set comes in a decent case to hold them safely in a school bag without any risk of leaking, each pen comes with a tiny cap on the point that is easily removed before use. Colours are good for school projects but I wouldn't get them for adult colouring books unless I already had a wider range of colours to choose from. I like how well they write, simply glide across the page without smudging or scratching and the grip on each pen makes them really comfortable to hold. For cards or invitations these pens will be great for personalising group invitations.Children will also enjoy using them for home or school.Good pens and very well made as expected from Bic.

Sixteen handy colours, though no black, in this BIC gel set, which suggests to me that the pack is aimed for use by the under twenties. The point is only 0.7mm (I wonder if BIC do another thickness?) so I think they are more for writing and simple line work, drawing diagrams for example, rather than use as an artistic medium or filling in one of those colouring books.I liked the gel consistency so they write and dry immediately and being retractable is useful, no leaking in clothing or whatever you might carry them in. The plastic packaging is just for retail display and I would have preferred something a bit more user friendly, maybe a flip-top lid that bends back to make the pens accessible when the pack is laying flat on something.

These 16, retractable (push top), Gel ink pens come in an attractive variety of colours from the darker black and brown, to more vibrant and vivid yellows and pinks. Each pen has a protective tip cover that must be removed before first use. The 0.7mm nib gives a medium line width that is perfect for writing. Each pen has a rubber grip towards the nib, making them very comfortable to hold and use. The gel ink dries almost instantly on normal paper thus avoiding any smudges. The pens write very smoothly and the ink is dispensed with a smooth and even flow making them a pleasure to write with!As a stationary lover,I really can't fault anything about this pen set and the price point seems very reasonable!

This is a really good set of 16 gel pens ideal for sketching, scribbling, writing in greetings cards or colouring small areas. The colours are strong, bright and vivid with very smoothly-flowing gel-ink from an equally smooth 0.7mm nib. It also dries fast - almost instantly so doesn't smudge if touched even immediately after use.The pens, which are retractable, are very comfortable to hold with a soft but grippy silicone rubber grip and a clear plastic barrel through which the ink level can be seen and the barrel accurately represents the ink colour.I am confident any purchaser would be happy with these.I've previously used the 8-pack of these but appreciate the wider colour range in this 16-pack.

These are an excellent set of 16 pens, coming in a wide range of colours. The downside of this, of course, is that the bolder colours will be used so often that the ink will run out long before the ink in the seldom used colours, yellow for example, does. They are retractable and the rubber grip makes them comfortable to write with and when you do write with them they glide smoothly over the paper. Previous reviewers have complained about the basic plastic wallet they come in but I personally don’t see what the problem is; it keeps the pens together – isn’t that all you need? They will clearly be popular with kids but they will also be appreciated by anybody that is into arts and crafts.

This is a great pack of high quality gel ink pens. I'm normally a fountain-pen person but these are great for quicker writing and especially when I need a wide range of colours. The colours to choose from are varied and bright and all pens put down a vibrant colour. These are 'ink' rather than what you get in a cheap biro so they are more liable to smudging. As someone who uses fountain pens this isn't an issue for me but if you're only used to cheap biros it may take some getting used to. I found drying time was pretty fast though.Definitely recommended for all age groups and all uses - greeting cards, school work, office notes, diaries and bullet journals, etc.

I got these for my little boys to do their 'art' with but I use them too. Gel ink pens write easily, they have bold, clear colours, they don't leak, they don't dry up, and they aren't waterproof so clean up well, even off school shirts. The pens themselves are well shaped with soft rubber grips and effective pocket clips, they are coloured according to the colour they draw and so are attractive. The transparent wallet they are supplied in is a bit rubbish, but I wasn't planning on keeping it anyway.

I'm a big fan of the smoothness of gel rollers, and BIC's gelocity series are among the best I've used. This set has a good value proposition compared to buying the pens in 3s, provided you actually want the range of colours within. I've attached a picture with most of the colours - my wife stole a couple of the pens for marking student papers. They're ideal for that tasks like that, where you want a pop of colour to attract attention to whatever notes you're making.

This is a super set of gel pens from BIC. 16 pens in a rainbow of colours ? The pens are comfortable in the grip. The nibs are protected with little rubber caps which need to be removed prior to use.I use pens daily at work and I much prefer to use coloured ink. I will enjoy using these pens. These are currently on sale for £19.99.I have found the pens write smoothly, which is not always the case with gel pens.Recommended product.

It's nice to see a pack of lovely gel pens like this in many colours and they are re-tractable. From black, brown, blues, greens, purples, reds, pinks, orange and yellow. They flow beautifully (remember to remover the rubbery tip cover before using). Really nice for artwork, letters, writing in cards etc. Very useful and well made. A really nice set for school, work, home and college.

These are excellent pens. They write smoothly and are comfortable to hold. However I am always mystified, by the inclusion of colours such as yellow that are quite tricky to read. That said this is a deep yellow, however some of the pens in this collection will be well used, and some less used.Another concern is the amount of plastic used, not just in the pens, but in the wallet.
