This is a really great product! It is well manufactured and appears that if treated appropriately it should give a considerable amount of use.The main unit is constructed from a robust plastic and measures 100mm long x 57mm wide x 23mm deep; there is an LCD display that measures 15mm high x 38mm wide. There is a strong metal handle at the top to hold when using the device, this has been designed to slide into the main unit when not in use.At the bottom of the main unit there are metal clips that fit into the nylon strap, this is 210mm in length and this holds together (to hold the items being weighed) by a strong plastic clip. The LCD display is very good; it is a backlit blue and the characters are written in a large (12mm high)print that is very easy to read. When you turn the device on you are met with a greeting, 'Helo' (yes, with one 'l'!), and the scales present 0.00kg, you can then press the 'UNIT' button to cycle between grams, pounds or ounces. At this point you can then add the item you wish to weigh, a pretty good feature is that if the item being weighed is held for 5 seconds then the device 'beeps' and the weight is held on the screen (regardless of whether it is still being held) thus giving you the opportunity to record the figures more easily. If nothing is weighed then the device turns itself off after approximately 20 seconds to conserve batteries; and before I forget, the device comes supplied with two 'AAA' batteries so you can use it straight from the box! There is a third button on the device (alongside 'ON/OFF' and 'UNIT') and its titled 'TARE'; this is used to reset the screen to zero, and can also be used to weigh the contents of a container and exclude the weight of the container from the final reading, so that only the net weight of the contents is shown on the LCD display, this is a really good little feature! The device comes with a one year guarantee and the details are in the Instruction Manual, all though the unit itself has been manufactured in China the distribution company is British and contact details are provided. The RRP on Amazon is currently £18.99, we bought it via a Marketplace seller (Tripneeds) for just £9.20 and I feel this offers excellent value for money. Finally the device weighs only 175g and is thus light enough to be suitable for bringing with you on the trip, holiday, or in my case, honeymoon!Highly recommended!

I recently purchased the scales as I no longer had confidence in the scales I have used for some years.I bought the scales to replace the Avon type scales I use when fishing to weigh the larger fish that I catch which are carp. For a couple of previous seasons I have thought that the Avon scales were underweighing and when checked at a butcher with known deadweights were up to 3.5 lbs underweighing. So for example a carp that was weighing at at say 20.5 lbs which seemed wrong was nearer 23lbs.I have had the Avon scales for 30 years so couldn't complain, and so spent quite a bit of money having them refurbished with new innards, but unfortunately they still seem to be no good hence the purchase of the No More Excess scales.I didn't buy a carry case as I already had a new case that I could use but would recommend one as I guess it it protects in the same way my carry case for " my passport hard " disk drive protects it.It took me a few attempts to get the hang of the scales and double checked them against the Avon scales. The No More excess are much easier to use and appear to be more accurate and consistent. From memory you need to turn the scales on after having put the strap through the sling carrying the product you want to weigh, when they read zero then lift and hold the load until it bleeps, this then holds that weight on the screen so you can lower the weight and have an instant record, great.I have caught several large fish ranging from 10lbs to 24.5 lbs in the recent trips and they are easy and good to use. However I doubt they will be much good if I leave them out in the elements though as electronic and not waterproof so have to get them out every time I catch if I want to weigh. However they are much cheaper than the electronic scales they sell in tackle shops and great, fully recommended and for approx £9.00 well worth while.

On our trip to China last year we only had 20kg weight allowance per person, not much really. When packing for the return journey we had bought a number of presents for people, as you do, and we were somewhat worried about the weight of the suitcases. We managed to get hold of an old scale that could only weight upto 8kg, this meant weighing things in batches, and then the worry at check in that we would be over our allowance and face a very hefty excess baggage charge, as it was we were several kilos under our allowance. Which was also slightly annoying. This year I wanted no repeat performance, I wanted to know accurately and quickly what the weight of our luggage was so we could take full advantage of our measly weight allowance.I looked at a few of the other luggage scales on Amazon and decided on the 'No More Excess' scale. The digital display appealed to the geek in me (ooo pretty colours) and the accuracy of the scales has been excellent. We have been able to pack to the max both on the way out and on the way back and I felt relaxed and confident as I stood at check in, looking at the baggage check in scales we had about 200g to spare, which is pretty much what the luggage scales had told me.So I am very pleased with the product, a good price for accuracy and peace of mind. I would recommend the No More Excess scales as easy to use, value for money and most importantly, accurate; all resulting in peace of mind towards the end of the holiday as we packed to come home.

After recently returning from a fishing trip to France where my expensive fish weighing scales were ruined by torrential rain, I set about looking for an inexpensive alternative. As the most important criteria was accuracy followed by portability the "No More Excess, Advanced Digital Luggage Scale" seemed to meet my wants with the added bonus of backlighting and simplicity. Another bonus was that the scales registered without the need to keep the item being weighed off the ground for a long time. The price seemed too good to be true compared to other such products, but I decided to go ahead and purchase them. This was in the morning about 11 am and I expected to wait at least a week or longer for delivery.NEXT DAY unbelievably the scales arrived and surpassed my expectations. The product is well made and well thought out and incredible easy to use. Loop the supplied strap around the item being weighed and lift. After a pause the weight registers and you can let the item down and read the weight, either in pounds and ounces or kilos. The blue backlight makes seeing the weight very easy in dim conditions and the retractable handle makes for a streamline appearence. The scales come well packaged and with instructions and the delivery time is probably the best I have ever experienced in ten yeas of shopping on the web.All in all a fantastic product at an incredible price well worth the money and sure to be an asset to me and to the friends that I have reccommended them to.

This is such a simple but amazingly useful product. I did not even realise this gadget existed but i bought one as i was travelling by air and needed a reliable way of ensuring i did not go over the baggage weight limit. This little gem is amazingly accurate and it is so simple to use too. I would heartily recommend it. You can use it straight out of the box and it looks like it will last for ages.1. It comes with full instructions but it is so simple to use, I did not even need to use them. You just put the batteries in and it is ready to use.2. Batteries are included, which means you can switch it straight on and weigh your bags straight out of the box3.The digital display is really very clear and it shows very clearly how much your baggage weighs, even if you need glasses, you won't need them to read this display.4. It automatically displays the weight in Kilograms, but you can switch to Pounds, Ounces or even Grams just by pushing the big button on the front.5. Easy snap on clip that will fit around any case handle.6 Really robust and strong. I reckon it would take my weight if I wanted to try that! :)In summary, I was really impressed by this product and I feel it was money very well spent.6

Hmmmm! I like the product which is why a 4* rating. Flying with Easijet from Gatwick I paid the extra to 23 KG for my case. Using the product the weight was just under 23KG. Gatwick / Easijet weighed my case at 24KG. I don't know who was right and who was wrong, all I would say is give yourself at least 1KG spare in case the Gatwick weighing machines are inaccurate. I don't know if my unit was right or wrong and how often Gatwick check their machines.....One more point is that it is difficult to lift a suitcase high enough to read the weight on the side and know whether you are reding in KG, LBS or whatever. If I had designed the unit I would have added another number viewer on the top, holding it high and steady to read is difficult if you are on your own. However it is rugged and supposing it accurate I will use it for years to come. Buy or not to buy, well if you are strong, buy the unit, if there are more than one of you to check fine, buy the unit but if you are a 9stone weakling (and I am not) and on your own think about another product. Easiest way to use it, hook it up to something, put a chair underneath, add suitcase and remove the chair. Be careful you don't break anything.

What can I say? I accidently stumbled on this device all quite by accident. Never knew anything like this existed until now. Have always struggled with excess luggage when on my travels. Its a lifeline/lifesaver for all those that pack like Pack-rats when travelling. Yes, I would know because I come from a family with a chronic history of being overweight at the Airport check in counter. I have always had to unpack my luggage and repack at the check in counter all my life, until now. All thanks to this nifty little gadget. I compared all the reviews with similar items available and this one came up tops. I bought two of these scales immediately. One for myself and the other for my mum whom I believe is the world's most frequent victim of being overweight at the check-in counter. It's very portable and pretty accurate. Thank God, I can finally quit the ritual of having to use bathroom scales to weigh my luggage prior to check in or having to look for a free weigh in stall at the airport.I highly recommend this device to all Travellers. Its a 'must have'Sincerely speaking, I'd be lost without it.

This handy little gadget arrived swiftly, and did the job very well, provided your cases weigh up to around 20KG (which is a fairly standard allowance on most airlines). It beeps to let you know when it has stored the weight of the item, so you can check it once you have put the case down. However, one small warning: our cases came in at about 25KG each, and the scale struggled to get a steady reading, and didn't manage to save the reading. Eventually, my wife had to sit down and take a reading while I was holding the case and scale. As it happened, the readings turned out to be pretty accurate, but it would have been better had the scale been able to save the reading.Perhaps it was just thesize and shape of my cases which caused me to struggle to hold it steady enough for the scale to take a reading, but a lot of people have similar cases, so I thought a word of warning would be prudent.Still, a very handy gadget, compact and light for storing and for taking with you for the return journey, and I will certainly be getting a lot of use out of it.

Having checked in our two suitcases at a Spanish airport, I was told that one suitcase was over weight and I would have to pay excess luggage charge before we could get our boarding passes. Not able to retrieve our suitcase to re-distribute the weight because they had been sent on their merry way, I had no joice but to pay the sum of approximately £35, so the cost of this item is well worth it. Prior to this I bought a spring type scale which was ok but you had to keep it suspended to read the weight, which made it difficult if the suitcase was heavy. With this, once suspended it 'BEEPS' then you can lower your case and read off the weight on the display. Only one critism the holding handle to lift with,is a bit narrow if you have thick fingers. I travel quite a lot and always take this with me, it's compact and ideal for the traveller, it will assist you in preventing excess baggage. Note, it's the weight of each case not the combined weight of two or more. Each case has to be manhandled. Happy Travelling.

I don't shop online very much and I rarely write reviews but I wanted to write one for this product because there is a story behind it..I bought this scale for my Nephew as a belated Christmas present. He is very happy with it, he has already used it and he says it is very easy to use and he is pleased with it.Unfortunately I had originally bought him a Balanzzo scale which I gave him for Christmas. To much disappointment, and embarrassment, this scale did not work so we had to return it to the retailer. I wasn't going to give him the same scale as a replacement so I found the No-More-Excess scale on amazon and I bought him this one instead. Oh well,he received it nearly a month after Christmas (although only a few days after I placed the order) but all's well that ends well. I'm not technically minded but I did notice that this scale is more compact than the Balanzzo so I would have thought makes it more convenient for travel. I hope this story helps somebody. 5 stars to amazon and the scale also.

After using one for a couple of months, I have bought more than a dozen No More Excess, Advanced Digital Luggage Scales in the last year and given them away to my friends and family as presents. It is definitely THE gadget of the year. Here is what I like about it:1. It is CompactYou only need this when you travel with a budget airline; in my case it is used only once or twice a month. Its box is no bigger than my hand, so it sits nicely at the back of a drawer when I don't need it.2. It is AccurateI love seeing Ryanair / Easyjet's check-in personnel's faces when I put my luggage on the scale and it reads 15.0kg or 20.0kg. It is that accurate!3. It is Easy to UseI can lift a 20kg bag with the gadget's small metal handle using both hands.I don't always wait for it to lock the weight; usually the reading it gives in the first couple of seconds of lifting is pretty accurate.I could not recommend the No More Excess Scale enough. In fact they should pay me commission for my advocacy! :)

I have been delighted with this item. It came with very easy to use instuctions. I am not techno minded, and i was not blinded by words i would not understand. I had the product ready to use within minutes of opening. The travel scales are made of high quality, so will not fall apart and will last a long time. I can't wait to use them on my next flight. Meanwhile i have been playing on them weighing any objects around the house. They are very very accurate, and the final weight of item is clear to see. You can change the weighing functions, so the travel scales can be used in other situations. My daughter uses it for items she sells on ebay. Because of the high overweight excess fee's at airports, and guessing parcel weights incorrectly, these scales will pay for themselves, therefore it is money well spent. You can also take them with you, because they are compact, and you can reweigh for your flights home. I thoroughly reccomend this product, and i am very pleased i went ahead and purchased them.

Having read everyone's reviews of various digital scales, I decided to try this as it seemed most liked it and it was one of the cheapest I found. OK, I agree I wouldn't like to try and lift a really heavy bag with it (not sure I could with any scale actually) due to the small handle. However I don't want to weigh luggage at the moment - just my cat. She's been rather poorly and is on new medication and the vet wants her weighed weekly. They suggested bathroom scales but that's useless. These are fine enough to weigh her up to 50 gram accuracy. One thing I haven't seen anyone mention is the advantage that I can weigh the bag, zero it whilst still holding it and then reweigh with cat onboard and just get the weight of the cat.A big advantage and saves calculations on the back of an envelope! This scale really suits my purpose - guess maybe I'm lucky that she sits quietly; I've seen that other reviewers say the scale isn't so easy to use with something that moves around/heavy bag that swings etc.

As the airlines are getting stricter and meaner with sizes and weights, I thought better to be on the safe side and get some scales to stop the chance of paying any excess. Easy to operate. Put the strap round the suitcase handle, press on and hold the suitcase in the air by the unit. After a few seconds, the machine beeps and the reading is taken. You can put the case down and read the weight easily. Nice and light means that you can take it with you for the return journey home. Would also recommend the case to protect it.The only 2 slight drawbacks are if the bag is swinging, the readings will fluctuate and the unit will not beep to confirm a weight whilst the display is fluctuating. You need to lift the case steadily and its fine. The other drawback is that the blue display is best seen from a downward angle. Looking straight on and the numbers disappear altogether - strange.Apart from these 2 slight niggles, highly recommended. It could save you money in excess charges.
