If, like me, you tend to actually read the instructions when installing PC components, then you will have as big a nightmare as I did. When fixing the heatsink to the motherboard, the instructions tell you to turn the four connectors clockwise, place the heatsink in position, push down & turn the connectors to lock in place. This doesn't work. You have to turn anticloskwise, push down hard (!) then turn clockwise again to lock the pin in place. I must have had fifty attempts at fitting the heatsink, twenty of those after I figured out the right way to do it. Additionally, due to the confined space in the case & the thin aluminium stampings of the heatsink, I cut my hands to ribbons doing it.I had to wipe the blood off the heatsink when I finally got it in place. Fitting the fan to the heatsink required removal of the graphics card due to the four rubber fixings which had to bee stretched to fix it in place.Once this was all done however, I found that my CPU was running at around 30-40 degrees centigrade, which was about 30 degrees less than with the original fan. I can now use my PC in hot weather without it shutting down from overheating.Job done, where are the plasters?

Installation of this thing was really frustrating. The instructions are quite unclear and reference parts that were not included in the box. There were a ton of extra parts too (not all motherboards need all of them anyhow, but I still didn't need most of the parts in the pictures). I ended up not using any of the springs, screws, or metal parts described in the instructions. After wasting a lot of time trying to look for help online, I just fastened the 4 plastic feet into the motherboard, attached the fan, and hoped for the best. It bends the board a little, but I don't think that it is by enough to be significant. As the other review warned, take care of your hands. I didn't cut mine up during installation, but I definitely see how someone could.Despite the fight during installation, I couldn't be happier with the performance. I have a z170 motherboard with an Intel i7-6700k CPU and I can't get the CPU hotter than 55C in a stress test (Prime95 blend tests & short FFT test). I'm not overclocking, but I definitely could without worrying about this thing heating up too much.

The cooler arrived from the supplier very quickly and installing it on my ASUS P6T motherboard was pretty straightforward. My Intel Core i7 920 CPU was running at about 80 degrees centigrade with the standard Intel CPU fan. After fitting the Nero 3 Cooler it now runs at a more sensible 36-40 degrees C and with the fan running at less than 40% is relatively quiet. Be aware that this is a big piece of kit and make sure you check that your Computer Case is wide enough to take it. I foolishly didn't check that my Mini Tower case was wide enough and I ended up having to cut out a square section of the case side panel through which the Heatsink/Fan now protrudes about half an inch.Despite looking a bit odd it works well and I am very pleased with this item.

Got this years ago after owning the original Nero and being impressed with that. I've used this Nero 3 now with three CPUs and it's still working great. Cools well and stays quiet. Pair this with a couple of high static pressure low dBA 140mm fans in a push-pull config and you're sorted. Haven't yet found a replacement that has this performance to noise ratio after all these years. Maybe the new Cryorig H7 Quad? But that'll be nearly double the price.

Found this easier to fit than many, contrary to some of the reviews here. It's just the usual intel pushpin design, and it works well because the cooler's light enough not to require a backplate on the motherboard. In terms of performance it seems great. I've had it a few weeks, and although I've done a moderate overclock I barely hear it even under load.If you're looking for decent cooling without hefty overclocking it's a good choice.

This cooler keeps my 1045t very cool even with an oc from 2.7 to 3ghz but the amd mounting is not great and the cooler sits blowing air to the top of the case normally with tower coolers they blow air out the back of case.
