I have long suffered with using my computer on a bright day - our living room has a lot of light coming into it, which is lovely, but somewhat of a hindrance when you need to see your screen. I feel like I have spent a lot of time with my blinds closed, as I get headaches from squinting at my screen otherwise.The performance of the 3M AG173W9B 12.3 W9 Anti-Glare Filter is fabulous for those times of day when the sun is too bright for me to easily use my screen to work on. It not only cuts down on the actual glare, but also removes those irritating reflections that are prone to distract me.The flip-side of this brilliant filter, is that it is distractingly obvious when you are back to lower levels of background light.

The laptop I use the most is a Dell Studio 1745 and thus is just the right size for this anti-glare screen and yes it does reduce glare and is hardly noticeable (when the screen is on) except for "3M AG173W9B" at the top of the screen in sort of see-through letters and a little half moon cutout to help you remove it if need be.The flat box it comes in has tape measure scales on it so before opening it you can check it is the correct size, this one is 38.3cm wide x 21.5cm high and can also be used on a touch screen display.My LCD is normal so after making sure the screen is perfectly clean you attach two of the six double sided tape strips to the side edges of the glare screen.

When the sun or bright lights are reflecting off my screen, this filter is brilliant. When I'm nowhere near those distractions, this filter is a bit of a pest. It's very good at what it does and cuts down 100% of the glare when I'm in the conservatory (all around glass) on a bright day. I don't have to peer at the screen to make out what's on it or try and shield it with my hand to block out reflections. However, in the evening or just indoors away from the bright daylight it's very noticeable and a bit distracting and the whole screen seems duller. It's not invisible, obviously, so I'm taking it off when not in the conservatory during the day and putting it back on when I am.

This anti glare filter is for a desktop LCD monitors with a 17.3” screen (measured diagonally). Unlike some other filters I have used, this is re-attachable, which is useful. It is also light, very thin and it does help reduce glare and reflection in a bright, or sunny, room.I use privacy screens and filters all the time, but, if you are not used to them the screen does look a little dark and even hazy. If you have never used one before, then just be aware that they do not necessarily alter the visibility, but they do take a little getting used to. I am not that keen on the adhesive strips and prefer just to fit the screen in unattached (if you tilt slightly, it stays well enough and is more easily removed).

The filter does not affect looking at the screen to any degree. It does cut out a lot of glare which is great as it means I can sit outside and use my laptop outside. So far I’ve not ad the opportunity to try it in full sun, but it does work in light cloud conditions which I’m delighted about.I followed the instructions and put on the anti-glare filter to my laptop. I only used 2 of the 3 sticky strips, which I’m glad about as although it sticks it on securely it gives me half a chance of getting it off. For review purposes I tried to remove the filter, as normally I would have just left it on. I found it quite tricky to get off, even though it has a cut out piece to assist you.

What is it? This is a plastic screen that sits on top of your touch screen device, and prevents glare from the screen in high light conditions. It attaches relatively easily, and the touch screen facility is largely retained, though I do find I have to press a little harder or repeatedly in certain areas of the screen. The glare is reduced very nicely, but there is a pay-off. The image is slightly distorted. Not enough to be a problem for me as I use it mainly for writing documents, but I can see that people watching videos or doing graphics work might be irritated. Works as it is supposed to, only 4 stars for the slight distortions and the slight loss of sensitivity of the screen.

FILTER=======We have a few gadgets around the house in our family and so I was quite pleased to try out this privacy screen.This is designed for the shape of a generiac 17" laptop. As such it doesn't look as smart as the ones that are specific for an individula laptop.USE====I like to read on the train and I hate when I can feel people peer over my shoulder.The concept is similar to the screens some offices have: You can read straight ahead, but for a neighbour it's impossible.There's a niche for people who need their privacy and this fulfils that niche.No problems so far, I'll update the review if it develops any issues.

So this product is an anti glare filter great for taking the shine off your screen, works well. Its a piece of rigid plastic so can be taken off and repositioned or reused.Unlike some 3M screen covers this one is not cut for a specific monitor, hence it needs some planning to get it in place, possibly better to put the sticky pads on the screen cover rather than the monitor to make sure they are all in place.I was wanting to use this in a wide screen HP lap top with touch screen. Don't use the latter a lot but was keen that the touch part would still work, which it does.

This 3M Anti-Glare Filter is designed to reduce reflections on a computer screen.Included with the filter is a cleaning cloth and the attachment strips and mounts.Many sizes are available and it is very important to measure the screen using 3Ms guidelines before ordering.The packaging has metric measurements printed on the rear edges to enable this to be done without a tape measure when in possession of the filter.This filter was a perfect fit for our Sony Vaio laptop and is very effective outdoors.

In the modern office full of floor to ceiling windows and harsh fluorescent overhead lighting, an anti-glare filter can make a surprising difference. Don't be the one who closes the blinds on a nice sunny day, to the chagrin of the office (it's not as if we get much sun to look at in this country). These filters do work so well, and fit neatly on to the monitor. They don't cause any vision or focus issues, and I find I don't get headaches as easily using this.

Very effective and easy to use - makes a world of difference on sunny days or when artificial lights are in use beyond your control e.g. In a public environment.

Lots of comments saying this is not good but I think it is great. Takes all the glare out of viewing a laptop in sunlight. I can now work in the garden!
