I bought the forerunner of this machine some 8 or 9 years ago, when it was sold as the Delta Airmaster. It looks identical to the current offering, although it cost around £200 at the time. Potential purchasers might be interested in the durability of the machine, so here are my experiences of using one.The rower has been used for about 1.5 hours a week since new. It has held up remarkably well, despite being subjected to a fairly vigorous exercise regime. The steel frame is rather rusty, it having being used in an unheated garage over the years; the quality of the paintwork probably wasn't that high, but then it is a budget machine. The first problem encountered was the display unit; although it is designed to switch off after a few minutes to conserve battery power,I found that in cold weather, it would often stay on continually, flattening the batteries. This would probably not occur if you used your machine in the house, instead of a cold garage. The foam hand grips deteriorated and fell apart after about four years. I didn't know where to obtain spares, so I improvised with lengths of pipe insulation. The seat runs on four ball-bearing nylon wheels. Two of these have now disintegrated. However, there are a further two non-load bearing wheels fitted to the seat carriage, which run in the top channel of the rowing rail. By swapping these with the broken wheels, the machine's life was extended a little. The foot rests pivot on a long steel spindle. Recently, this snapped, probably as a result of metal fatigue. I was able to repair this by welding the broken bits together. Also, the pivot holes through the plastic foot rests themselves have worn oval with use, making them somewhat wobbly. I was able to improve the situation by drilling out the worn holes and inserting metal tubes. The foot straps are wide and comfortable, being secured by velcro. They do tear after a while, perhaps as a result of the strap buckle being made of thin steel wire. This eventually rusts and becomes abrasive, so damaging the fabric strap.Unfortunately, the machine has now come to the end of its life, as the aluminium rowing rail has actually worn through. However, the fan and associated pulleys, cords etc. are still going strong. For the money, this is an excellent choice for those looking for a budget machine. Although V-Fit confirm that spares are available, with a little ingenuity you should be able to coax quite a few years of use from the machine for little extra cost.

The Artemis 2 V-Fit rower is great. Came dead on time, in good order and the box was perfect.I put it together in about half an hour. The instruction diagram helped but the numbers were one out in correspondence to the bits and pieces for putting it together, so for 41 read 42 etc in some places. I'm a (retired) gas turbine engineer so found it easy anyway and didn't use their tools, they're rubbish. I used two adjustable spanners instead. I had a few washers left over, but all the nuts were 3 threads clear in safety but not much more so a washer wouldn't be useful. The two large penny washers fit under the two knurled knobs that are for collapsing the machine.I had to tape the monitor cable down,it's never a good idea to have cables flapping around moving parts. The build quality is very good, I think. There is no recommendation to oil the chain, I certainly will, with a light oil designed for bicycles. Don't use WD40, it's not lubricating oil. (not on a bike chain either and as a qualified bike instructor I've seen a few fragged chains because some did). Don't put a lot on, and don't overwork the chain till it's soaked through. A soft cloth to wipe up early spatters will help.No idea how accurate the monitor is - the calorie count is a load of rubbish, truly. Forget it.If you wish to work harder than the machine is set up for, try winding the tape round the drum one more time. Perhaps useful when the elastic becomes tired to get more out before you have to spend money on replacement parts.I've started with a 4K row, in two sessions, with a 30 sec burst every half K, and work at 25 - 27 spm and do the burst at 33 - 35. My 12 yo son uses it too, He can do 4k a session at moderate pace, he's fit but needs his arms building up. It works, and well.I have no problem getting a good aerobic response from this, and I'm fitter than most. You can work as hard as you like. Oh, and the washing rack, if you put it before the fan, will dry!And I've been sat here idly wondering how to fix a power take off to make electricity, too ...PS, I'm 45, female, have a bad back, a rebuilt ankle and unhappy knees. Warm up first, and do stretches!

I had been wanting a rowing machine for quite a while, but did not have the space available to store one, until I found this one that folds away. I was a little concerned that it may not been too rigid due to its folding, but having used it I am happy that it is robust enough.I have previously only used Concept 2 rowers at various gyms, and I did not expect this product to be as good as this well known piece of standard gym equipment - and it is not. But is is close! And for 1/5 of the price, that is amazing. I am 6'1" and the travel is adequat for me to do a full stroke. The action is as smooth as a Concept 2. The resistance is not adjustable, but the more effort you put in, the more it fights you back,so you will get a good work out. I am used to using the Concept 2 on 5, and rowing about 28 strokes/min, this gives you a similar resistance - so it is ideal for me. The display is not great, but it is better than nothing and for the money can you complain?A note on assembly - which is generally straight-forward. When attaching the drive band to the bungee, you need to feed it through the frame into the main rail that the seat moves on. It isn't apparent from the instructions and I've read other reviews saying that the the band wears against the frame. It isn't meant to, and it took me half of the hour it took to assemble to work out how it was meant to go (that and working out that most of the bolts are already attached to where they are meant to go and not somewhere in one of the packages).Overall I am very happy with my purchase. I am sure it will give me an extra option for exercising at home - I already use a cross trainer twice a week and do weight, so am reasonably fit. I'm sure this rower will give enough resistance to provide a challenging workout. Would definitely recommend.Oh, and I bought mine directly from Beny for £175 including delivery. Arrived the next day.

I bought this rower about 2 months as a treat for myself as i wanted to get fitter without paying heavy gym fees!I looked around for a while but finally chose this one as i wanted distance and time to be displayed.Instructions are easy to follow if your good at puting things together!(baring in mind i got my dad to do it for me )didn't take him long though! Was and still am impressed with the machine in general..had a few problems yesterday with the chain coming offbut after tightening it up its back in its prime form.Dont reccomend this if your wanting to go into rowing in a big way, but if you just want to get fitter then its great!hope this helps (:

I am a Personal trainer & my rower that i had in my studio (for 3 years) had broken i got straight on to internet looking for a replacement at a good price & i found the V-Fit AR1 Artemis 2 Air Rowing Machine it arrived in 2 days after ordering & was very easy to put together & was put to use with some of my clients that very day.the only thing i would say negative about the rower is you cant adjust the intensity but thats not really a problem you can just row faster =) for that reason tho i can only give it 4/5over all this is a really good piece of kit for the price

Ordered 11/5 and got it 12/5. Great service for the modest delivery charge.Having read some reviews about 2 people being needed to build these things. I was a bit concerned I'd need to wait for the other half to get home to help me.However when it arrived, I managed it up a flight of stairs myself and the assembly was easily managed. One thing to watch for is when turning it over to attach the return chord to the large bungee. The chain can slide off the pulley. So be careful to put it back on before the bungee is attached to take up the tension.

I ordered my machine on the basis of forty other reviews i read on another site which all gave this product four or five stars. I ordered on Wednesday and it was delivered on Thursday...fantastic service. 30 minutes to build the rower after following the relatively simple instructions and i was away. The machine is sturdy and the resistance, which adjusts itself according to your speed is perfect for a good home workout. I am a little over 6 foot tall and encountered no problems with reach etc. It represents very good value for money.

Easy to put together, no problems there.Works very well does all you would expect of it.Except . . .the seat.I mean it works ok, backwards and forwards as it should, but the noise! It squeaks and grinds so bad, during use.It also feels "loose" in its runners and there doesn't seem to be any adjustment for it.It's not likely to fall off, the rollers in the runners keep it in place, but . . . that horrible noise just irritates and that's why I can't give it5 stars.

Got this during amazon sales. Great machine a bit noisey but overall good buy. The resistance is matched by effort you put in. Rowing for 40 mins gets a good sweat on. Only reason I havent given it 5 stars is that I havent had it long enough.I am 6'3 and 100kg having done martial arts and rowing at university I can say the fact it folds and is sturdy enough to give a good work out is pretty good.

To me this seems as good as the Concept rowers in the gym. It’s really simple with a small but adequate control panel. No adjustments to increase resistance so if you want to make your session harder, just row faster, exactly as you would on the water. Great value for money and perfect for exercise during the Covid crisis. Highly recommended.

11.9.2019

For a home rower, this is very good value, good quality and easy to assemble (read the instructions). I have used concept rowers in Gyms and on holiday (cruise ships) and, while the Artemis is not up to that standard, for home use anyone would be a fool to spend money on a more expensive rower.

9.12.2008

For the price this is a fantastic rowing machine! Gives a great workout and its really sturdy. The resistance gets greater the harder you row. Really easy to put together, light and folds easily for storage. I would highly recommend this to any first time buyer for this sort of product.

I was gonna buy one from argos, but that one has some bad rep. This one is pretty cool. Its a bit akward getting the chain back on if it slips off. Mostof the time if you get the momentum.right and.rest the handle properly it will be brilliant.

13.9.2014

Absolutely love it. My seat has become a bit noisy after a month but the noise generally is not bad. It is so much better as a daily workout than an exercise bike and has helped me lose a stone so far. Using 10-15mins daily
