A stalwart warrior in the Autobot ranks, Sideswipe appeared frequently in the comics and cartoon in the early couple of years of the Generation 1 period. He never did have much of a role outside of being a soldier and soon disappeared as new characters came out (although not quite as quickly as his ‘brother’ Sunstreaker). His popularity and reputation as a warrior were cemented though and he typically appeared in later continuities as a member of some type of special forces group. It comes as little surprise then that he should be part of the ‘Siege’ reimagining of the final battle on Cybertron before the Autobots flee in the Ark.‘Siege’ Sideswipe is a fabulous figure. His robot form not only possesses a strong resemblance to his physical appearance in the comics and cartoons of the eighties but also invokes the look and transformation process of the original G1 toy whilst providing a more agile looking and much better articulated figure. Having the arms fold out of the vehicle undercarriage rather than having them semi formed out of the sides/doors gets rid of that slight appearance of a car standing on its end. However, it is of course his altform that has the greater appeal. This Siege’ version replaces the Lamborghini Countach (possibly the coolest car of the late seventies and eighties) with a futuristic vehicle which, despite its supposedly Cybertronian origins and overtones of Hot Rod, possesses more than a passing resemblance to a Lamborghini Countach. It is a sleek and stylish car that conceals its transformation joins very well. The underside though could do with slightly more clearance from the floor/ground so that the wheels moved better. The car mode also benefits from not having the battle scarring typical of the ‘Siege’ toy line. Sideswipe does possess this battle damage, but it can only be seen in his robot mode. It’s an auspicious choice from Hasbro as it works as a nice contrast to the later released Netflix version of the same figure with its heavy, discolouring battle effects. The transformation process is satisfying and logical without being convoluted or being excessively fiddly. The only weakness lies in the leg panels that can be quite difficult to lever out of place, especially in the vehicle mode where there isn’t much finger space. This is also the area which creates the aforementioned lack of clearance.

When I was 10 years old, I was always fancinated about Transformers especially ‘The Autobots’. My first Transformer, I have got was Hound, and then I got Dinobot Leader ‘Grimlock’, along with Autobots Bluestreak, Prowl, Hoist, plus Dinobots Slag (know he is called Slug), Sludge and Snarl with Decepticons Soundwave and Starscream (until they went to a local hospital) But I didn’t have Optimus Prime, Bubblebee or even Sideswipe (Until know). The new Siege Line of G1 Transformers are fantastic, they have captured the gritty reality of the civil war on Cybertron they face every day, especially Sideswipe, Hound and Optimus Prime as they have used a silver sucuffing effect that makes them have a more gritty realism,in which looks fabulous. Please get the Siege Line as they look 100% times better than other lines and generations. I would love to see Voyager Class Optimus Prime siege line distributed through Amazon soon probably protected in bubble wrap and in a large box.

Deluxe Sideswipe is a picture perfect recreation of the Transformer 40-something fans like myself will be familiar with from the cartoons and comics of the 1980's.He has a tough looking robot form, coupled with a super sleek and stylish sports car alternate mode, a fantastic degree of articulation, and he frankly looks cool as hell.Like most of Hasbro's recent Transformers releases though, the only area where the figure gets let down is in terms of his accessories.Whilst Sideswipe has a shoulder launcher that is a very accurate representation of that used by the original toy (and can double as a hand held weapon), he lacks his unique looking blaster which leaves this figure feeling just a smidge short of being 100% authentic.it seems a trifling complaint, but it's one that will likely grate on the collectors among you.Still a great figure though, and any kids collecting this won't give a damn!

This is probably the best G1 style transformer this side of the masterpiece line. The robot mode is almost flawless, well detailed and styled, solid, sturdy and highly poseable. If I had to pick a gripe with this mode, it's the gun is a bit naff; not a patch on his proper blaster.Vehicle mode looks super slick and is a great cybertronian take on his classic Lamborghini Countach. It is solid and rolls fineFinally the transformation it fun, not too easy or hard and just feels right.A brilliant toy and figure. Highly recommended

This figure looks and for the most part feels great in both modes and has great pose ability for a deluxe the only problem is though after transforming him once one of his legs jammed up and will no longer move forward or back which is a serious problem, I'm currently thinking it's fixable, but at the same time thus shouldn't have happened in the first place, so overall great figure poor quality control.

Love this figure the articulation is great and the figure looks amazing in both robot and vehicle mode. The transformation is perfect as it is easy to remember and simple but not too simple that its boring but the perfect amount of transformation difficulty so its fun to transform every time. The figure is sturdy and not fiddly at all.

It's a well designed figure, and transforms well. It does feel as if it will break easily on some of the moving parts, but it is a great little toy. I don't think these will ever compare to the original metal ones I had as a child.

Got this for my sons birthday and he loves it, very posable and sturdy. If you do push too hard you can just pop a leg back on. Not too hard to transform and looks good on both robot and car mode. A nice amount of detail too.

Awesome sideswipe figure, love the design of both robot and vehicle mode, an overall great quality figure that feels very nice, it has a good texture and is nice to hold. Would highly recommend.
