This is the first sports/fitness tracking watch that I have ever owned; and I love it more than it frustrates me which I think is the most important thing so I decided to submit an honest but I guess positive review of my good (and bad) experiences which I would have liked to have seen before I bought it.Recommend for: Fair weather fitness folk, people that are trying to take their ‘training’ more seriously and people that need that extra kick for motivation!Maybe skip if: You are easily frustrated with tech (synching issue only), want to use this as a step or sleep tracker (does so much more!), want this for swimming only (general consensus seems to say it’s the least accurate function)• GPS – sometimes connects straight away, sometimes needs a while – I’ve seen plenty of friends with a variety of watches experience this so it doesn’t worry me.• Running – seems to accurately track distance and time though my partner reckons elevation may be off. (I will cover HRM later)• Cycling – disappointed only in that I thought I worked harder! No issues recording my cycles, speed, time, cals etc. all recorded and uploaded to app and easy for me to read my stats and where I put in the effort (more about app later).• Swim – I only did a few laps practice in a 17m pool to test and sadly I agree with some other reviews that it wasn’t fantastic at recording my lengths. Maybe it’s because it was a small pool, or maybe the functionality is just not the best for swimming. I tried to make sure my push offs for each lap were distinctive by pausing for a short while and pushing off strong but I was still 1-3 laps short each time (I tried 3 short sessions of 10 laps; strictly for testing, maybe I should have tried more!)• Freestyle – I thought that this would be good for recording my Hikes so I tested it out on a couple of long walks in my area – again, really happy it seemed to record everything accurately enough, though if the elevation is off I will be disappointed when I hit some Munros! A lot of people I’ve seen complaining about no dedicated hike function on forums, but this is perfect for that plus a range of other activities – just name what you did when you upload to keep track of what you used it for!• Indoor cycling/running – I don’t use treadmills, just spinning bikes; I’m glad that heart rate monitor is on there so I can see how hard I’m trying to give myself heart failure so I can reign it in a little!• Gym – I used this for some gym classes and Yoga where I didn’t need gps; happy with the results that were recorded.• The actual Watch – so easy to use! When it’s dark out just cover watch face for 3-5 seconds while you’re going and back light will come on for a short time to check time/stats. Easy to set different features from watch as well but I’ve not used all the features yet – like race etc. Can read rough data off watch for my runs/cycles/workouts before I upload.• HRM - I’d say the heart rate accurately records my effort based on how I felt but I don’t have another heart rate monitor to compare it with!• App – Yes, it is true – trying to get it to connect is all kinds of hell. That’s not to say it can’t be done because I have done it as have many others. **NOTE YOU NEED TO HAVE INTERNET CONNECTION AND BLUETOOTH ON TO CONNECT AND UPLOAD ACTIVITY** I didn’t realise this when I first got it. I find turning the sync function off then on with phone or restarting app helps; however this is no substitute for Tomtom fixing the bugs so android syncs more seamlessly! Tomtom please take note and fix this as it seems to be the biggest complaint and drawback of the watch!! Unlike some others I like the app, I think you can click on your activities and see your stats easily enough and uploads to other platforms like Strava have worked no problem for me. The only thing (other than connectivity!) that I would change would be goal setting – as it stands you can only set one goal i.e cycle 30 miles a week, but you can’t add another to say run 5 miles a week; therefore you can’t add cross training goals which I found incredibly frustrating as I bought this watch for the various training metrics I’d be able to upload and track. Sure I can still upload and track, and I can see if I’ve hit the personal goals I’ve written down, but it would be fantastic if I could set goals for each metric on the app and see myself hit my goals there.• Activity recording – I did not get the watch for this function and had little interest in it. While I’m happy I can see what is classed as ‘time active’ in a day I reckon the steps I’ve taken is out quite a bit, but I’m not worried about that because I get my exercise/activity from gym/classes/hikes/cycles/yoga/running etc! if you want to have accurate readings get something that is specifically for this task, this watch is designed to be more accurate for other parameters and not just being a step counter.• Sleep – also not interested in the sleep function of this watch, the data is there for me to look at if I want to but I would be just as happy with the watch if it wasn’t there, it’s not a selling point for me.I honestly love my new watch, some small changes with the app would be a good improvement but this watch does what I need it to do and I would recommend it to a friend – a friend that will not throw their phone away if it doesn’t sync with their watch first or even second time round… but seriously don’t let that put you off you can sync it by connecting to your laptop, no laptop then you may get frustrated.

In terms of running kit I have purchased this to date has to be the best! The TomTom Runner 2 GPS watch is packed with features that enable to to improve your running, I particularly like the speedometer which allows me to pace myself (I used to head out on a run like a bullet from a gun!) and get tired really quickly, but now I can set off and know I will have enough left in the tank to complete my run.I must confess I was a little sceptical about buying this given some of the reviews I have read about the connectivity issues people have had connecting to their phone but I have had no problems at all (currently using a Samsung Note 3).I have managed to also pair my Polar H3 heart rate sensor easily. The watch battery lasts around 3 or 4 days when running before needing a charge and I have just come back from a weeks holiday (charged before I left) and had plenty of juice left when I came back and still had some left over after going for a 5k run.Another great feature of the watch is it allows you to race yourself (a ghost of your previous effort), I used this for a virtual race (run anywhere you want). I ran the route I was going to run on race day earlier in the month then simply used the TomTom software to upload it to the watch and it shows where you are compared to the last time you ran it - really useful!!

A very reliable entry level running watch for a few reasons. I've had the watch for 1 year and 3 months now and it's still going strong, still getting people admiring its simple design.1. Battery Life lasts about a week or two without GPS and will last a few hours on constant GPS. This means that I run a couple of times a week and end up charging it most weeks and it charges quickly. Works really well for my everyday watch too.2. Tracker is fairly reliable and counts my steps and enables me to set a goal for steps, calories, distance or time spent being active. Gives you a notification once you reach your goal. You can see details on the watch or more on the companion app.3. Running mode is very good, the display is customisable with three sections, one big and two small. The large one I have set to pace, and the smaller ones to distance and time so I can see my real time pace most easily. Other options include the clock time, heart rate zone and average pace.Drops a star because the strap broke, but only after 9 months of use. Still, I was hoping it would last a couple of years.

I bought this for my 10 year old son. He uses it for counting his daily steps, for running and for cycling. It was relatively expensive. The one he had previously cost £20 but only lasted 2 weeks before it was sent back for being faulty.Fit is good and the functions are easy to use. It charges up via USB and we use the free PC software to download his activities. Battery life seems to be good - it lasts about a week between charges. It's important that kids stay active so that they can stay fit and healthy. This watch won't make your children active but it will certainly encourage them to take more of an interest in what they do.I'd thoroughly recommend this product

Bought for my wife. She's tiny wrists, yet this watch doesn't look too big; rather it's stylish and comfortable. Performance wise the battery life is good, the GPS excellent in terms of signal and accuracy. HR accurate and helpful. Two downsides for me: 1) Steps: way out on reality. I'd reckon up to three times more than actual; and 2) Reports: Fitbit app and emailed progress reports are far better presented and motivational. But overall - and as it's mainly used for road running purposes - this is a top product for this purpose.

the only reason I am not giving 5/5 stars is because the GPS sync is very if-y. Sometimes you sync it and in a few hours it still pairs up well with the satellite, sometimes you pair it and in 10minutes it can't connect.- great tracking functionality- fast tracking- easy to use- nice reporting after each training- has training mods other than runningPS: a bit bulky :( got this as a present and the girl that is using it is fairly skinny so it looks a bit big on the wrist.

Pros: Love the look of this watch and it's so easy to use, for the price I would say it's one of the best out there! Brilliant.Cons: It didn't work with the app, (Android and Samsung Core mobile) I upgraded from the Garmin 405 purely so I don't have to keep plugging a lead in to the laptop to download my data. I couldn't so for that reason I sent it back.

Fab GPS watch. Far better than I expected. Easy set up & plenty of online videos to explain functions. Very easy to download data to Mac. Great two finger light function when running in dark. Sturdy and stylish. Bit slow at times to pick up GPS signal but that's a minor note. Just wish I'd have treated myself to one sooner.

I absolute love this sports watch having had a watch that only recording running previously.I love the multi sport function although the lane counting doesn't always count them if you don't flick your wrist. Otherwise very happy and excellent value

Good however sometimes takes forever to track. Also once it showed it tracking and wasn't. I like it and glad I purchased it. The app Is awful, have to repeat the process of finding my watch. Links to strava ok though.

Needed a replacement for my Nike+ watch saw that the Tom Tom would upload using Blutooth and export to Nike+ web site. No needfor HRM chest strap. Have used it 3 or 4 times now and found it easy enough to use.

29.8.2017

Pleased with this, though slightly confused by the different readings being given when used alongside a Spark when both running the same distance, pace, etc. Not a daily wearer though.

27.1.2016

Comfortable watch. Easy to use once you get to know its workings.. There are no instructions, which was slightly disappointing hence taking a star of the review

15.3.2017

Love it, easy to use clear and very very accurate. Love the details when you download your runs onto PC etc

17.9.2016

Great training aid. Easy to use. Not too confident of heart rate measurement at start of run.
