Bought this when my audiojack on my laptop came out of place and became unusable. Buying this external sound card was a lot cheaper than getting the audio jack replaced and this sound card sounds better than the one in my laptop already. The usb stick is a bit of an awkward shape though and it can be a tight squeeze if you want to plug another usb into the slot next to it. Due to this and my genral hashyness the usb of the sound card is almost at a right angle now but it works all the same and it's not in the way of my other usb slots anymore.

Worked straight from the box, and Windows XP took it as its default sound device, just as the leaflet in the box described.Only one little quirk (on Windows - not the device) - I had to tell Windows Media Player to use the device; it didn't pick it up automatically. But that's quite simple, go into Media Player, select Tools/Options/Devices/Speakers/Properties and select 'Direct Sound USB' from the drop-down list, then click 'Apply' and 'OK'. You may need to close Media Player and re-open before the change takes effect.

The product came in very good packaging with a good quality of materials for the price. The sound performance is great and the only problem I've faced so far is that the connection between the cable and the adapter gets loose with time and it may become harder to keep it in place without losing connection between the two. You can always tape it some way though. I think it's the third year I'm using this product on a daily basis and overall I'm very satisfied for what I paid.

After accidently dropping his laptop with headphones attached, my son's audio outlet wouldn't work and after purchasing another make which fell apart after 24 hours I was a little reluctant to spend any more money. However, these are great; more robust and works a treat! When my other son's audio socket stopped working I bought another! PS: These are pretty old laptops now!

I also bought one by 3d sound which was just about ok and astonishingly cheap but this one is still excellent value and gives much better sound. The other one I tried was the speedlink VIgo which cost a similar amount to this and was useless.

Sounds fine and feels reasonably study. It's larger than it looks in the pictures, it's supplied with a short USB extension lead so it can be fitted without obscuring a neighboring USB port - thoughtful addition.

Much better sound quality for when 'Using Dragon Naturally Speaking', an easy fix for onboard sound card problems.!
