While this is advertised as a 'Witch Hat' it was also the only hat, of any style or description, which looked like something I could use to transform myself into 'The Hooded Claw' this past Hallowe'en (and, indeed, at every other wingding I am invited to during this forthcoming festive season - whether it be fancy-dress or not...).The hat is tall, and it's twisty. And, it does have a velour-style effect to it. Mine was a little misshapen when it arrived but that was easily remedied with a few twists and turns of the wire which runs all the way around the inside of the brim of the hat and throughout the 'twisty' bit at the top. 'The Hooded Claw' actually favoured a green hat in 'reality' but,since he's a fiendish criminal who must by now have made his way on to the FBI's 'Ten Most Wanted Inept Cartoon Villains' List, it seemed prudent for me to tone it down a bit and hide in plain sight in a respectable black. Quite apart from which, where the heck could I have found a green twisty hat?The brim is large and maintains its shape beautifully. The same goes for that twisty bit at the top although I had no real need for it. I found that folding it all in on itself created a tall hat with a wide brim of more or less the right appearance as the titfer Sylvester Sneekly first availed himself of.There was mention of a 'spider' in the description, but I didn't see one. Mind you, I would only have dumped it straight in the bin in any case so, perhaps it's just as well?In classic style (ie. because Mr Sneekly is a pretty rubbish disguise-artist) everyone knew it was me straight away. Sadly, I wasn't able to test whether or not I could fool Miss Penelope Pitstop, because none of the women I know fancied dressing up as Miss Penelope and accompanying me. Even for twenty quid. Actually, looking back, it's quite possible I did not make clear precisely what I would ultimately be paying for... in which case it's no wonder I couldn't convince anyone to go with me. It's also a miracle that I didn't get my face slapped.As a vital component of any 'Hooded Claw' costume - albeit one which has had to be reinvented in a slightly more conservative black - this hat is superb. Oddly enough though, I think as a witch's hat it might well be a bit over-the-top.I certainly couldn't imagine my ex-wife wearing it, for instance...

I loved the look of this hat when I saw it on-line and for the price I was a fool not to get it. I was a little worried it would be blue however, as it looks in the picture but luckily it's not. It is black and velvety. The size is good too. Not too small so you can wear it with a wig. But I am a little upset with the fact that the tall and twisty part of the hat flops down and ruins the end look of the hat. There was also a hole inside the hat which needs a little attention. I will be amending this with some stiff wire or something to try and give the hat some shape again but just as a warning, it may not be as tall and twisty and you hoped!

So pleased with this hat which (excuse the pun) is awesome. Great value and it is wired up to the tip so you can wear it tall and pointy or if, like me, you're over 6ft and keep catching it on the doorframe then you can twist/curl it down a bit - whatever style suits you. I sewed on some plastic glitter spiders to finish it off and got loads of positive comments. Good quality, I think it'll last for years and looks so much better than the usual costume witches hats.

Ha, love it! Great value for money, good quality, comfy, arrived quickly. You have to unsquish it from packaging but that's no problem, just takes a couple of minutes to shape it nicely. I'm going to decorate mine with feathers and a crow for Samhain celebrations and it seems that it will be sturdy enough to facilitate that. Would definitely recommend if you want a quirky quality witches hat.

For the price you pay if you complain then you are daft because this hat ticks all of the boxes,fit, style and all round comfort is great! I like the fact that you can bend it any which way you want and it stays there! I have worn this around the house to make sure it will stand up on the night and can say yes,providing it doesn't rain as i haven't tested it when wet!!

Dressed up as Professor McGonagall and used this hat, it was a hit; fantastic! Perfect black color and velvety feeling, absolutely massive rim, and the point twisted any way you wanted it to.Everyone was asking me where I got it, and I came second in the fancy dress competition.This was an amazing hat for its money and I will definitely be wearing it again!

Fantastic product, especially for the price. I couldn't believe the quality of this. It was perfect for my needs and great that you can twist it into your preferred shape. The fit was good and it stayed on with a little breeze. Very comfortable to wear for a long period without the usual tightness you can get from some. Would definitely recommend.

Better than the average cheapo hat, can be bent and moulded into different shapes and the velvet effect fabric looked great. The wire on the rim of mine was slightly exposed but it lasted the night and I dare say will do again for next year too. Would recommend but bear in mind it's a bit of fun to look good, not mega high quality build.

I received this hat well packaged. There was a slight tear in the fabric on the edge where it had rubbed against the wire but was easily fixed with some duct tape and covered with black material. For the price it is an absolute bargain, a giant hat and it looks great with the twisty top. I'd thoroughly recommend it.

This hat is fantastic value for money. I wore it for my role as the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz.I have a small head so did need the inside padded out. However the wire in it meant I could bend it into a desired shape and it stayed that way. Very authentic looking.

Really inpressed with this hat, especially for the low price. I have very thick, long curly hair and I managed to get this hat on over a wig (albeit a snug fit!). By no means would this hat stay up, constantly leaned over, but this didn't matter at all. Looked brilliant!

Fantastic hat. Excellent value for money, I was really surprised at the quality considering how cheap it was. As an added bonus I thought I had ordered it too late and It wouldn't arrive in time for world book day, but to my delight it arrived a day early. Thank you!

This witches hat is amazing - the quality is suberb, it can be worn straight or you can bend it all ways. Its comfy to wear and nice and warm for cold halloween nights. You wont believe the fabulousness of this hat till you buy it - you will love it!!!!!

Great quality, heavy velvety material, It is a little on the large side for me (22.5" head circumference) and so unfortunately is also too big for my eldest daughter who I bought it for but we'll pin it or find a very thick wig as it looks great!

Great hat loved it. A tall velvet feel. Very bemdy so can bend how u want. Completed my outfit perfectly. Made a simple outfit look striking. Needs shaping out of packaging but easily done. Perfect item for halloween. Compliments all round.
