I'm so glad I read the reviews on this item. If I had bought my size (16-18) I would have had some sewing to do, it would have been WAY TOO BIG (and twice the price!!). I bought the 12-14 and it fitted perfectly so I'm guessing the sizes in the description refer to American sizes.Point to note - unless you are very, very short, it is unlikely that you could wear this item without a skirt, shorts or leggings. I haven't worn it out yet, only tried it on but standing up it doesn't cover my bum and bending, well, let's just say my nether regions would be very much on display.The dress' material isn't great quality and the stitching isn't perfect as there are some stray threads here and there.

I wore this for a fancy dress party as Alice in wonderland. It looks more 'German barmaid' to be fair, but everybody knew who I was. I brought the socks and a blonde wig for the full effect, and all together it looked great. I'm a size 8-10 and brought the 4-6 and it was even a little too big, so be cautious with sizing! It is very very short, I'm 5'6 and it did not cover my bum, but luckily I had a white frilled skirt that I wore underneath that looked like it was part of the outfit. Brilliant bargain!

Had to adjust it here and there but I was a perfect Alice of a girl from German bear festival - whichever works for you. If you buy this you definitely wish to buy the blue or red underskirt as its going to look flat and boring without it.

I wore this round blackpool pleasure beach on my 18th birthday (with shorts underneath) everybody thought me and my boyfriend were recruited by them. great fun

Great funny outfit. But I still didn't win best dressed at the works Xmas party. It's cheap and cheerful. Could do with pockets though!
