I bought these for my new commuter machine, road bike, nice and light. I cycle to work mainly in the shoes / trainers I intend to wear all day, but if I'm going further afield I wanted to be clipped in. Turned up next day on prime, clipping mechanism works great, as you would expect from Shimano. Good size platform on the reverse side for non-cleated footwear, the grip is OK, sufficient for my needs, but I've knocked half the paint off with my cleats, a rubberised / plastic finish might be more durable (and maybe better grip) for the non-spd side, but minor aesthetics only. Initially just enough rotary resistance to allow the peddle to remain in same relative position to the crank when free rotated, really good for setting off and finding the correct surface, but loosening up now. 200 miles in, and minus the missing paint I'd buy another pair tomorrow for the same job, for the price and the weight, there's little competition.

I'm really pleased with these pedals. I recently purchased my first road cycle which came with plastic pedals and straps. I looked a right idiot trying to put my feet in the straps which kept rotating around on the pedal axle to hang upsidedown. I purchased these Shimano pedals to replace them with. The reason I chose these is because at some point in the future I am looking to buy some SPD shoes but I also wanted to be able to ride it in normal shoes until then. Plus with the one flat side I have the flexibility of riding my bike in normal shoes to work, shops, school run etc without using SPD shoes. The flat side grips nicely with my Merrell walking shoes and I suffer no slip offs even in wet weather.Included in the pack was a set of SPD cleats for when I finally get around to buying some proper shoes. Recommended for those looking for flexibility with their pedal / footwear on a road bike.

I got these pedals when I made the jump into proper cycling shoes and clipless pedals. I wanted something to click into but I didn't want my bike to become useless if I didn't have my cycling shoes on and wanted to pop out to the shops. These pedals are the perfect answer.Very easy to install and the cleat system is really simple to adjust with a screwdriver to the loosest setting, to help prevent us Noobs from falling over when we stop. The pedals also come with the correct cleats for you to screw into the base of your shiny new cycling shoes.Flip the pedal over and you have a broad and flat pedal surface that you can easily use with normal footwear. The only exception would be leather souled shoes as these might slip on the metal surface.I've done about 400 miles on these since I've bought them and I have no complaints whatso ever. If you're new to clipless, this is the way to go.

Having just moved from mountain bike to long distance road biking I wanted something that allowed me to still do short hops without the hassle of having to take my SPD Shoes with me all the time. I have to say these pedals are excellent quality and although I have had the usual few "oh no I can't unclip" incidents that everyone does I think that is more to my cheep shoes than the excellent pedals. The pedals can get a bit slippy in the extreme wet, but then you are probably going to use your shoes if doing a long trek where that would happen so I won't take a star off for that.In short: Quality construction, excellent price and versitile .. What more could you want?

These pedals are fantastic. I’ve just purchased my first road bike (13 Intrinsic Alpha) and wanted a good all-round set of pedals that would allow me to use it in both cycling shoes and my everyday footwear. I must admit I am very surprised with the flat sides; although they appear quite slick, I cycled 10miles in my running shoes when the pedals first arrived and not a single slip. Excellent! I now cycle at least 30miles a week on my road bike and no complaints. If you’re looking for a versatile, comfortable set of pedals that will allow you to get the most from your bike, look no further.

My first set of clip less pedals. Ideal that you can wear normal shoes with them too. They are good when clipped in. Easy to do so. The clip side is mostly on top. Which is good as it makes it easier to clip in. But if you're wearing normal shoes then it's easy to just flip it. Feels comfortable on both sides. They do come with the cleats however i haven't used them as my shoes had metal ones on them. The ones that come with the shoes are plastic. But can't say about their quality as I haven't even opened them. Highly recommended for anyone who uses their bike for commuting and training.

Brilliant pedals, exactly what I was hoping they would be. One side available to clip into with cleats and road bike shoes, the other a flat surface I can use when I'm cycling in Converse to a friends house or town. Haven't had any issues with paint coming off (black pedals) and also haven't been out in a downpour to test if they get unbearably slippy on the flat faces. Very easy to fit and comes with a full instruction guide of how and what you need to swap your pedals over. Very happy with these, would recommend to anyone who wants a bike for dual purpose, sport and recreation.

Very pleased with my purchase, these pedals came very quickly, and just as stated. Well packaged and a decent price too. So what's not to like. I fitted the pedals easily after having to put a block of wood behind the original pedals to get them off. Fitted the cleates to my shoes and away I went. Very good quality pedals. If your wondering if you should purchase or not, don't hesitate. Highly recommend items and seller that's why I've given a 5* review.

Although I prefer to cycle clipped in if possible, there are plenty of occasions when I just want to hop on and go, without having to change my shoes. Clip side works fine, shoe side provides a decent sized, comfortable and fairly slip free platform. Getting your foot onto the correct side doesn't present much of a problem once you get the hang of it. I've had a pair for several years, ridden year round in all weather, and no problems at all with them.

Heavy, but then if you're looking for dual pedals, then I'm guessing you're not too fussed. They appear to have a certain decent weighting to them also, so that, if you clip out, or use the other side with trainers at the lights, when you have your first rotation and go to put your standing foot on the pedal, it is on the correct side. Not sure if this will change over time but yeah.. these are expensive but do the job

I should have bought these first but I took the advice of a shop rather than a friend which resulted in a 50% chance of me falling off my bike whilst trying to get my feet out of the other clips. These clips are much better & I haven’t fallen off. ‘yet’, also easy to ride without cleated shoes for that quick trip to the local shops.

My first foray into the "clipless pedal" arena, so I took the cautious approach and chose these for their usability with normal shoes. Can see no problem with the product or supply. Although, it takes a little while to get used to using them in either mode, but that is to be expected.

My friend recommends this product to me for my bf's valentines gift. He loves it. It is really easy to use for the people who has never use clicked cycle shoes. At same time, you can use this paddle as normal one but much stronger. Shimano Click-in pedal PD-A530

This set of pedals is very good for commuting and general duties. Not the lightest, but give a good platform on both sides, can be used with normal shoes and should last a lifetime (at least that of the bike..). Generaly, what you would expect from Shimano.

These are great pedals and give the flexibility to use your bike for those quick journeys where you don't want to put on your proper gear. Superb quality from Shimano.I use these on my MTB although their not MTB specific and they do the job.
