These reels appear to be well built for the most part. I think they're a bit pricey for a reel with so few ball bearings. Time and use will tell if they hold up. The bail arm line pick up is plastic. This usually show wear quickly if the line doesn't align properly when the bail is tripped and line is reeled in under pressure. This is something that needs watching or the line will make a groove there and wear out the line quickly and the part must replaced.

This Shimano is an excellent and strong reel, ideal for those seeking both small and large fish. Whilst I don't use it for salt water, I chose this model for its increased resistance to the elements. The pair of reels I own have handled fish well in excess of 100 lbs whose fighting ability cannot be expressed but should be experienced!

I use this reel for sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River and worked excellent. (It replaced my Okuma bait runner. I wish I bought this to start then I would not have to buy it twice) I have never had an issue with any of my Shimanos. Pay a little extra up front and forget about it.

A robust reel with an excellent baitrunner mechanism. Built to last and being designed for see fishing I expect long service from it. We even have a return of an oil filler port to help with maintenance.Perfect for big fish hunting in Thailand!

It was always going to b good being a shimano the baitrunner mechanism is superb thereel itself super smooth and tough as teak construction ifyou want a saltwater baitrunner this is it and for the little money it costs awesome.

These reels work great if you’re live lining. Set the switch to “loose.” When a fish is on put switch in normal drag mode. Set hook and reel it in. Very well built reel Highly recommend.

The free spooling just makes sense, gives you free hands time.Great reel good idea. Reel arrived in a timely manner in perfect working order, just what iI wanted

A gift for my husband. The day it arrived he put the reel on his rod and went fishing. Came home in love with his new reel.

Shimano's workhorse reel, Great for Speckled trout, redfish and drum. Good quality reel.
