This is perfect for encouraging speech, understanding matching items and lesrning turn-taking. I play this with my 2 year old daughter a s she loves it. We started playing it at about 22 months. At first, I took out one card, and selected only matching cards for her to pick out and match. Now, I set out all 4 cards, and we take it in turns to puck a card from the box and find a match. She now understands how to take turns. It encourages her speech, as she says which card she has got, and tries to find the match. This is a very good quality product, and they have clearly taken into consideration how toddlers like to teeth on random objects! These cards are all nice and thick, it's going to last us a long time, rather than flimsy thin pieces of card. Will definitely buy more puzzles from orchard toys very soon!

This is a brilliantly conceived and versatile first game for little ones. As well as being great fun once they grasp the concept of taking turns and ‘winning’, the game has lots of educational value. It encourages the development of observation and memory skills and teaches patience (something we never thought possible with our 2 year-old!).We started off just talking about the different pictures and colours and looking for the matching cards to fill each board, then progressed step by step to playing a proper game. The boards and cards are thick and strong, and thus very durable. All in all, great value for money. Thanks for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful.Check out my profile page for more reviews of toddler books and puzzles and educational toys and games.

I love the orchard board games we have several of them, I purchased red dog blue dog for my grandaughter when she was under 2 yrs old she is almost 5 and she goes back to this game time and time again, this is one of the first games we got her we also have the shopping list one, dotty dinosaurs, snakes & ladders, pigs in pants, old mcdonald & a few more, I would highly recommend the orchard games as they are not only good value for money, they are made from a good quality board with bright colours & are easily wiped, they help the little ones with their colours, matching up pairs, counting etc & also to have patience whilst waiting for their turn.

This is a great game for children. For very young children the game can be used to practice turn taking and then colour and picture recognition, matching skills and as they get older memory skills as they remember where the pieces are. I have a 3 year old and a 7 year old and there aren't many board games that they can play together because they are either too easy or too hard, this game is a good bridge between the two. I would highly recommend Orchard toys, they come with simple straightforward instructions, are educational and more importantly for the children, a good fun way to bring the family together.

Great first board game for young children. My 2 year old loves playing it with us, even if we have to let her win sometimes! She already knew her colours before we got this game but I think it would be great for helping toddlers learn about colours. It's fun for everyone to spend time together, and i'm sure we'll continue to use it for a few years. It's easy for little kids to learn the rules too, my daughter picked it up fine the first time we played. I love the Orchard Toys range, everything is such good quality. We have a few of the puzzles and they're great too.

My 2 year old daughter LOVES this game. It is colourful and very durable when being thrown about by an excited toddler. The game is easy to play, so avoids boredom or frustration with young children. I was very impressed with the level of thinking required, recognising colours as well as naming the simple images (flower, car, dog, spider, rabbit, teddy). A fantastic purchase for all lovers of Orchard Toys -it made my daughter feel quite "grown up" to be playing a board game!

Bought as a present and both parents and toddler loved it!It's sturdy enough so that it doesn't bend easily and is absolutely fine when dropped and repeatedly stepped on.It's the kind of game that is good for a couple of years. The two year old we bought it for is currently learning to say the colours on the cards and the names of the shapes, but it will also be useful for when he learns to read as well. Later, we can use it for its intended purpose - the lotto game.

I brought this for my daughters 2nd birthday and now 3 months later she still loves it. It is helping her with colours and getting them matched to correct object. She now has an understanding of turn taking, most of the time. Her memory is also improving if she has to wait a turn to pick up the card she wants. This game comes out everyday especially when we have visitors, no matter what the age! This is a good intro to board games and turn taking.

My daughter (2) already knew her colours and could name all of the items on the cards but Red Dog, Blue Dog has been brilliant for teaching her the idea that games have rules and we take turns in a circle. Additionally it has helped her focus on the game and it has improved her memory - can you remember where the card was that you needed that someone picked up 3 turns before you!Top marks Orchard, I will be looking out for other games now.

One of the best orchard games we've had so far. Although they are all fab. The quality is what stands out to me. Fantastic sturdy card. Lovely bright colours and pictures printed on. The pieces pop out of the card so easily. We use it to match the pieces to the boards as intended. However we also use it for matching based on colours or types of animals. Just makes it a more versatile item. Excellent for the early years skills.

We originally played this at a friends house with their 6 and 2 year old children, everyone enjoyed it. I bought it for my 2 year old and he has requested it over and over. Can be played in different ways for different ages, wonderfully simple with each card having the same things just in different colours so not overly complex for younger children. Great for colour recognition, turn taking and memory. Good strong pieces.

A great little game, my toddlers are two so probably a bit young for understanding the objective of the game, however it is great for learning colours and objects and finding matching pairs regardless of whether we follow the rules. The boards and pieces are of good sturdy quality, great for little hands to hold without worrying they'll be bent easily thus ensuring the longevity of the game. Highly recommend.

I hunted high and low in a number of local toy shops with no joy. The Orchard Toys are great for younger children. I have two older children who love card games and board games so I wanted to get something that we could all play together. (the younger child is nearly 3)So we will be taking this on holiday so we can all have some fun family time!!!Great to help with conversation, colours etc.

My two and a half year old absolutely loves this. It’s good for learning about colours and things that are the same or similar. It’s open ended enough to create lots of simple games, not just the ones the instructions say. Excellent value for money. Sturdy enough for my toddler, but no good for my ten month old baby who chews everything! So good I buy this as presents for friends toddlers.

My granddaughter who is 4 years old, played with a game similar to this when we were on holiday and loved it so much that I tried to get her one like it. She plays with it for hours and has learnt through it to be observant, count and generally cope with the concept of it. It is a shame I didn't get the original 'Spot the Dog' one but this comes a very close second.Gloria Cobb
