I remember the original Polly Pockets from the 1990s. The sets were like compact mirrors that opened to reveal a mini scene with a mini doll called Polly inside and they fitted in your pocket. As I grew older I was surprised when Polly Pocket products became bigger toys that no longer fitted in the pocket. However more recently it seems Polly has been going back to her origins, back down to micro size, just like here in this medium-sized set.I got this for my 8-year-old daughter. She loves it. It is called “Flutterriffic Forest”. The design on the outside is that of a wrapped present with a butterfly on it.On the inside is a forest area with three areas that contain surprises in them (spoilers coming as to what those are – skip to next para if you don’t want to know).

Polly Pocket was a fab toy when it first came out years ago and this new range of Polly Pocket toys are a really lovely update to the original, though they are perhaps not as detailed as they used to be which is a bit of a shame.This particular review is for both the Mermaid Grotto and the Flutterrific Forest sets as we have both of these.The little compact boxes open up to reveal a little world with a mini doll and some moving parts for her to play on. There are also some secret compartments which you peel off to reveal hidden area and play bits. Some Polly can wear, like the wings we got in the Flutterific Forest and some are for adding to the playability of the set such as the treasure chest in the Mermaid set.

This is a nice, neat little set featuring a tiny Lila character doll from the Polly Pocket range.This is a neat little set. About the length and width of a cream cracker, and only about 4cm deep (estimated, as the deepest part is the crown on top of the box). This little playset has quite an appealing design - from the outside, it looks like a present, thanks to a pearlescent-painted bow on top, and a crown logo on top of the bow gives a clue to the interior. This opens out along a hinge at the back, to reveal that on the inside, there's a charming palace grounds scene - with a bridge, a pair of swans on a 'river', which move when a dial is turned, steps, and a seating area for Princess Lila and two friends.

The recent Polly Pocket relaunch has proven popular in my house with sets that are small enough to carry, but packed with fun things to do. This second range of products is a little more gimmicky than the first. The ‘Lila’s Dream Palace' mixes things up by being both a toy and a blind bag. Any adult of a child obsessed with blind bag buying will know how annoying they can be.Thankfully, 'Dream Palace' has a playable area no matter what you receive in the perforated areas at the top. You get a little palace garden to play in and the background is revealed once you have taken the surprise out. The toy is more hand size than some of the other sets you can buy and this means that there is less to play with.

We have a few of the polly pocket sets and we’re excited about getting a unicorn one. Now firstly this is very small , the box is ideal for carrying about easily but you literally get 1 tiny dolll in it , which if you isn’t have other micro pollypockets it’s going to get boring very quickly . It has a unicorn themes, and a flying set of wings that you can clip your pollypocket on but no unicorn .However little girls do like it, ( I think age 5 to 8 is best because of the tiny size ) because if the colourings an dsecret compartment, which is revealed by peeling off .Personally I think this makes a nice additional set for transporting some of your polly pockets around and at present for the price being justness than £7 I think that’s a good price ,

My 6 yr old adores unicorns, so Shani's Sky set was the perfect way to introduce her to the Polly Pocket series of toys.She loves the cute, compact design and the teeny tiny doll with bendy legs.At first we didn't realise that you need to pull the cardboard background away to reveal further play features, and it seemed a bit of a shame to do it, because it was really pretty but you can't put it back afterwards. However, my daughter found it exciting to uncover the new areas (like a blind bag), and was really happy with the tiny unicorn hidden there.Not sure how much time she will spend playing with it at home, and I am CERTAIN that the doll and unicorn will vanish within weeks (if not days),

This is a great little play set that is very small but perfectly formed. I hear from my wife that Polly Pockets were quite big in the 80s and it appears they have revived the idea for a new generation.The entire thing folds up to give the appearance of a small present, but inside there is a small play area for the tiny little doll. There are a couple of little swans which have a spinning action as well as some seats and gardens. The top half has three bits of cardboard that you can punch out to reveal more secret play areas and further accessories. I like this idea, which is kind of like the blind bag or surprise egg concept which is ever popular with kids.The only downside is that due to the small bits this would not be a suitable present for a child under 3.

Obviously a little set like this isn’t going to have a lot of content, but this still has quite limited play value. A few items from the pound shop would probably amuse children for a longer length of time, and for a fraction of the cost.That aside, it’s still a nicely made little set. The case helps to keep everything together, useful, as some of the accessories are very small and could be easily lost.For this “small pieces” reason, it is emphatically not suitable for children under three, (or children of any age who aren’t particularly sensible.)This will be of value on outings, to pop into a handbag or rucksack, and be brought out to amuse a child for a few vital minutes,

This Flutteriffic Forest Playset is so cute! My 4.5yr old simply loves anything Polly Pocket - mostly as it is small sets and these carry cases that is portable is her favourite.She enjoys playing with the little Polly inside and packing it all away again to carry around to the next room, the car, or a friend's house. I like the compact, as it keeps all the small bits in one place tidied away and stop the pups from chewing the little bits inside!This particular set have three sections on the top section that come out, to reveal three hidden extras (a snail, a crown and a small pair of wings) to turn Polly into a fairy. The advert states 'random selection of 3 hidden items'

In my day polly pocket was on everyone’s wish list. Not so sure this is the case with the advent of so many options in the toy world.This is a sweet little kit which has the added interest of some hidden panels with extra activities. The lolly doll is tiny and rubber / great for little hands but not great for getting lost which is also a risk for the small pieces including the little snail and wings included.The panels are cardboard and flimsy and after a few uses are looking dog eared- I suspect they aren’t meant to be used long term but little person here likes them so we continue to slide them back in for now.Overall I feel like it’s a bit underwhelming but the little person enjoys playing

Being ancient, I can’t quite see the appeal of this, but my 4-year-old granddaughter certainly can. It does seem to be a well-made toy. For its size (about 95 x 85 x 45 mm when closed), it’s providing a great deal of play value.Closed, it has the appearance of a gift, wrapped in ribbon with a butterfly for decoration. Inside, there are three concealed items as well as Polly – flying Polly, in fact, because she has fairy wings and can spin in the box. Part of the fun seems to be putting everything back in the box and carrying it around the house, out to friends and even to the shops!For less than £10, this would make an excellent stocking filler, birthday gift for a friend or perhaps just a pocket-money toy.

Polly Pockets have been around for years and seem to have a lasting appeal for many girls aged about 4 - 7. They feature teeny tiny dolls and accessories all in a portable "secret" box, irresistible for this age group if they are into small world play and collections. At about £10 it is not cheap, but it is the "collectability" that creates the market.This particular set is themed Sky World and features a unicorn, rainbows, hidden places, a revolving star and some surprise accessories for the mini doll Shani. There are stickers so your child can customise her box, and if you have a Polly Pocket fan in the family she will no doubt be clamouring for the new set to show her friends!

I used to love my Polly pockets and I really wanted my daughter to get into them to so it was great when these come up. I let her open it and as soon as I saw it I was a little disappointed it's nothing like the original the dolls are a soft rubber and are a bit fiddly the idea of breaking the cardboard to reveal hidden things was cute but my daughter can not do it herself the cases are not so well made as before and it has an annoying click and they don't seem to catch very well I have to keep reminding my daughter to put the bits in the case to keep them safe but she really does enjoy playing with it I guess for all us oldies who have seen them before nothing's going to be like the original

This Polly pocket is advertised as being for ages 4+. It is the lil princess pad variety. The box itself is a lovely girly design- a pearlescent hot pink with a purple ribbon and gold tiara. Inside it is like a mini home, there is seating, stairs and a little outside area with a pond and white swans that you can spin round. The top lid inside has 3 different compartments that you can peel off to reveal something underneath. It also comes with a sheet of stickers.This is well made, feels very sturdy and the “polly” that comes with it looks a bit bigger than they used to be back in my day. I think it has a good price too- just under the £10 mark which also makes it perfect as a kids party

We have a few of these little sets now and I do think that they go together well and add to the playability. I really like the stickers that come with each set allowing the Polly Pocket dolls to stick to them and that they work on all the little dolls, not just the one that came with that set.My four year old thoroughly enjoyed popping out the hidden surprises and working out what the moving part did in this particular set. Polly Pocket has captured her imagination and she will play across the four sets that she has so far. I'm sure more sets are top of her birthday wish list.The set is well presented and is holding up well to a lot of play. I really like the attention to detail.
