Now this is a NICE head torch!First off the standard stuff: it's light, comfortable to wear for extended periods and the controls are easy to find (as long as you remember which one does what - not too hard actually there are only two main buttons). In use the reactive light just helps out with +1ev on whatever you are holding or doing when you are working in a normal-to-dim environment and once you go somewhere dark it seamlessly ramps up the power to improve your view. Flawless , even without the app.But ah, at APP! Admit it, you bought it for the app. Good plan - it's a decent torch and the app is nice, but I'd quite like to be able to set the torch mode from the app, which you can't.It really just reflects what the torch is doing [Edit: the App now has LIVE view which lets you override the lamp power if you are in constant mode, and it also allows you to load different power profiles which change the way the lamp reacts to different light levels - that gives you all the control you should need I think, plus the useful battery level / burn time gauge]. The run time estimates and bettery level are very handy though, especially if the torch has been in it's pouch (not supplied) for a while. The one thing you can set is the morse code flash sequence and that's limited to 20 characters sadly. But I did have a good idea - the head torch has a light sensor, right? How would it be if it could detect and read Morse to you? It would need to notice and record say three characters minimum but then it could just spot a sequence and decode it - and how cool would that be? As it stands the Morse feature is really not for casual users :)

This is the second Reactik that I bought, as I like my first one so much. It is by far the brightest headlamp that I have ever encountered and I hear that comment from many other people I meet on the trails. I love that I do NOT have a headstrap over the top (that would seriously bug me) and that it also illuminates the sides of the trail (about the width of one car lane) so that I have better view of where to set my feet in tricky terrain. I have used this headlamp on several Ragnar Relay runs, morning trailruns in the dark and for lots of camping trips. I also really like the "lock" function so that it does not accidentally come on. I invested in a second charger and have one adapter that uses 3 AAA batteries as backup.Charging only takes about 2-3 hours. At the beginning (about 3 years ago) one charge gave me about 4 hours of light on the brightest setting. Now due to wear and tear I get a little over 2 hours, which is still pretty great, as that's usually the duration of our morning outings. I don't really use all the fancy settings (app on the phone to read the current charge, etc. ) but exclusively use the brightest setting for everything and maybe the red light for when I have to avoid blinding people. I also like the fastening mechanism and can get it to sit tightly on my head even when jumping and running on technical trails. The headband gets a little funky, but can be taken off (includes the plastic frame) and washed. I also purchased an extra headband, just in case...

The bad: it is a pain to turn on and off with heavy gloves on. The app is worthless and is incredibly difficult to get the app to recognize the unit even after it is connected in the bluetooth menu. The good: the light defaults to the efficiency mode where the light output changes to the darkness around you. I use the headlamp mainly for walking around outside a warehouse environment at night. This is the mode i use 95% of the time so this tool does what i need it to do. Easy to charge and the light on the side changes color as the battery starts to lose power. The competition: i also have a couple streamlight headlamps that take cr123 batteries. They are variable with a lnob and are very handy for around the farm working on equipment and the like. They are too bulky to fit in my jacket pocket for work (plus require spare batteries) so they don't really compete well for most applications.

Super bright compared to my last black diamond, however, rechargeable battery only lasts 25-30 mins on brightest setting... but really, IT IS super bright. I love using it to work on micro projects. I'm glad I got it refurbished for eighty five. I would have felt a bit of remorse if I had paid more. I have a very small head and it fits me. It's comfortable. I like the lock feature. I haven't bothered with the associated android app yet. I'm just using it around the house in off grid living. I thought I'd be charging it off a solar charger, but am in a house and able to charge easy.

Started running and needed a better head torch for night running. The it arrived I thought it would be too heavy as it's much bigger than my old Petzl head torch (a small one possibly Tikkina, can't remember the name of it) but this is just about perfect, sits nice and comfortable and does not move at all while running. There are different modes which can be controlled from an ap on your phone (don't really use it though to be honest). The mades are good and easy to scroll through whilst wearing. USB charging so no worries about batteries.

Amazing little headlamp, the reactive and constant technology is brilliant! Adapts the beam and intensity super fast! The app is good, perfect for seeing how much battery life is remaining and the custom profiles are pretty nice too, but if you’re unsure about purchasing due to the price, just buy the non + which would save you about £20 as I tend to forget about the app often! Well worth the money either way!Read a one star review about how it took this man 20 minutes to turn on, what a buffoon! Ignore this cynical old daily mail reader!

My wife absolutely loves this headlamp. She wears it while running. She has never had a headlamp that was this comfortable and bright. She said that, when she is running, the headlamp stays in place nicely even though it does NOT squeeze her head uncomfortably. She said that it is easy to adjust. She runs dark, gravel roads, and she said that she sees far more animals than she did with her old headlamp... this one is simply incredibly bright. She pairs it with a chest light to create great depth perception.

I was fully intending on buying the newest model of this headlamp for fieldwork but upon reading the reviews, they took away the red light! That was a dealbreaker for me so I did some research to find the newest model that still had reactive lighting AND a red light and landed here. It’s a fantastic headlamp! I was a bit worried about the battery being a few years old but so far so good. It’s powerful and seems to be functioning like it’s brand new! Very glad I purchased this model.

Perfect headlamp, reactive function is amazing and brightness good for any foot-powered pursuits (not quite enough for biking)..Five stars would be earned if it weren't twice the price of other headlamps, and if they offered headbands that weren't guaranteed to wind up looking sweat-stained and filty after just a few uses - with washing a pain and only somewhat effective. It's a product for heavy outdoors use Petzl, come on...

Great light. I bought it to upgrade for running on trails and fells. Takes a little getting used to the controls - reactive or manual. Incredible battery life on reactive mode - ran for 51/2 hours during an ultra in tough conditions - heavy rain and whilst I aimed to swap to a fresh battery I didn't need to - lots of life left. Easy adjustable headband stays in place when running. Sound Petzl build quality.

Excellent for late night runs. Especially good that it’s so bright, you can hit motorist back with epic amounts of light if they decide that you need full beam action. That was the best bit about this! In all seriousness it has excellent battery life, connects to an app on my phone via Bluetooth for battery life, and reacts to the light around you. Comfort was good. Very good product highly recommended.

I like it.Usage: Night Hill Trail RunningComfort: Barely notice it, wear it over a wooly hat.Battery: Does what it says. Just remember to top up its charge every so often so you dont get caught up the mountain in the dark ?Settings: Only used auto - as it was perfect from its first usage.Strava says I've done 36 miles with the torch. I can remember charging it twice.

A great headtorch, it's not bulky, and I like the fact that I can simply recharge it, and by using the app I can accurately see how much charge is left in it each time I run. I was previously spending a fortune on batteries for my old head torch, and was probably replacing them far too early, just to be sure it didn't run out mid-run. This is now a think of the past!

Excellent head lamp. Very bright. Rechargeable battery and ability to use standard batteries as backup is a plus. The Petzl Bluetooth app is not that user friendly in my opinion. The sequence of button presses for different options/ brightness levels takes some practice. A little heavy, but the head strap adjusts nicely- you get used to the weight.

Bought this for fishing trips. Easily rechargeable on a power pack with USB connection. Like the red beam which leaves your night vision unimpaired whilst giving enough light for tasks around the bivvy. Thoroughly recommend. Own 3 Petzels, this is the best... Great for finding the dog in fields at night or whilst out mountain biking.
