UPDATE: The case will crack, just as described by other users that were dissapointed. However I'm wearing it as I write this update. This is the 2nd Petzl Tactikka I have purchased. They both have cracked in the same manner. After the 1st one cracked I assumed I might have done something to cause it. However after the 2nd Tactikka cracked I knew it wasn't me. The crack will start at the Top of the section of the case that contains the lens / light apparatus, and will begin in the top black plastic, then run diagonally downward through the clear plastic lens of the light. I was very careful about changing the batteries, and I have NOT dropped this light. It developed a crack, almost identical to the first Tactikka I purchased. (I also use a Petzl Case that is sold on Amazon as an accessory for this headlamp) The function of the light has not been altered with the crack. It is the only head lamp I have found that does not requiring changing a lens cover to obtain the change in lighting color. If I had to guess I would say, possibly pressing on the button to operate the light might be the cause of the cracking. Sometimes if the finger is not perfectly placed on the rubber covered button, I will push on the side of the button also pressing on the case. However Petzl should redesign this case to prevent the cracking. IF YOU PURCHASE THIS EXPECT IT TO DEVELOPE A CRACK FROM THE TOP OF THE BLACK FRONT THROUGH THE CLEAR LENS, THE CRACK WILL NOT INTERFER WITH THE FUNCTION OF THE LAMP. The design is simple, functional. The instruction manual does not explain how the switch operates. I finally figured it out and really like this headlamp. I need the RGB features. However the white light is very bright. The RGB is great for keeping night vision. It is not the least expensive, however I personally like it even with the crack. However, for the price they ask, it should NOT crack. ( Do not confuse this headlamp with the Petzl Tactikka without the "+RGB" after it. This would be an older model with only the Red light, No Green or Blue. The case is identical, I own both, they both have cracked! Even using the Case for the Petzl Headlamp.)

First, I couldnt use my Petzl Core rechargable battery in this., and that was disappointing. Also, the button logic is different from the other Petzls I've owned (namely the Tikka XP 2) and isn't as intuitive. To turn on, you have to hold the power button for a second or two, and to switch colors you have to do it while in the same press as turning on the lamp, or turn it off and turn it on again to change colors. It's a bit clumsy that way. But otherwise it's a Petzl so it's a damn good headlamp, and the built in color options are very useful.Pros:- It's a Petzl- built in color LEDs, no having to switch colored lenses- good headstrap- light starts on on dimmest so you don't blind nearby peoplewhen you first turn on- very bright light settings- case is a solid color plastic so you don't get peripheral light in your eyes (unlike the Tikka XP 2)Cons:- clumsy button navigation- is not compatible with the Petzl Core rechargeable battery- i wish it had the flip up "ambient light" translucent screen like the Tikka XP 2Overall more pros than cons so I'm pretty happy with it.

AWESOME. I am a huge fan of Petzl, they make the best headlamps in the under $100 range in my opinion, and that opinion is based on working at a top outdoor retail store in Canada for 5 years. The RGB option is great, and cycles easily through all colors. The brightest white setting is incredibly bright. I used this the other day in a pinch for doing some night filming, and it stood up admirably. Definitely a good buy!

Petzl consistently produced a good product. I previously had a post-rock tactical headlamp and lost it. Replaced it with this. Battery life is good, and the brightness has increased over my previous one. The built in RGB without having to swap filters has been extremely handy. I would definitely buy this again.

This headlamp is bright enough on its lowest setting for you to see the trail in front of you without blinding anyone. The colors are good for when you need them and I find the green bright enough to read by out camping without disturbing anyone else. A quality product and my favorite camping light.

This is my fourth Head lamp from Petzl. They make great products. Very bright lumens, this thing has multiple colors to choose from i.e. red, blue, green, and easy to control, fits comfortably on the head, light weight but well built. Decent price too. I love this light

Good, functional headlamp. it's not going to be a hunting headlamp to any significant degree, but that's not really what it's meant for. For providing good, clear lume in a dark, moonless environment, it's easily the best small lamp I've worked with.

Really love this headlamp. Lightweight, seems solid and sturdy enough, and having all three color (red, green, and blue) options without having to use lenses seems to be rare in the headlamp world. This feature is what I was looking for though.

Always a great product by Petzl. Only draw back to this particular model is the focus or size of the spot light projections is a little wide for my liking. I prefer a tighter projection to see further. This is a great product and very bright.

Love this headlight, perfect for running or GoRuck Challenges (which I bought it for). Much brighter then I had first anticipated. Good reviews can be found on YouTube. Would recommend to anyone who wants a great, durable outdoor headlamp.

Fantastic head torch. Weak light (low battery usage) for reading etc then 2 more powerful settings when you need it. Red is great too as doesn't damage your night vision. Not sure why you would ever need the blue and green settings tho?

Works great. Used for early, early morning mountaineering. Takes a minute to learn the sequence, but easy on and off. I use the red light for night vision, so I cant comment on the blue or green options. Never had it turn on in my pack.

Great light! The white light has three different brightness settings (and strobe) and can really light up an area. The blue, red and green lights all have a strobe option and really come in handy if you want a dimmer light.

I own a number of Petzl Headlamps and this one has familiar quality and performance. I like how you can cycle through all the different lamp choices with one button. Having the additional color blue is a benefit too.

excellent for climbing or other activities where it's not obtrusive. color options are a nice addition beyond red. it would be nice to have it use 4 aaa's, because rechargeables are usually done in pairs.
