I bought this as my girlfriend had recently gotten into climbing, and I wanted her to feel safe and confident belaying me as I’m 90+ kg and she’s rather petite. Anyone that has used a GriGri in the past will know that it’s self locking mechanism never fails. And gives the climber and the belayer added confidence when climbing. The GriGri + does a little more than that. It has a panic switch when the belayer is letting the climber down, if they go too far on the lever it’ll self lock again and you have to put it back to the start position to start descending again. This stops an inexperienced belayer from putting the lever into maximum decent and slamming you into the ground if they freeze with it fully open.

I have been using an original grigri for >15 years, then I went and lost it. I decided to replace it with the grigri+. The grigri+ works exactly as advertised but the top/lead mode and the panic handle aren't any use to me. For novices, yes, but experienced users no. I never bother to put it into top rope mode, it works perfectly well in lead climb mode. The panic handle works but you need care to avoid it operating inadvertently.The grigri is a great bit of kit for use in climbing walls, however as an experienced grigri user I wish I'd bought the cheaper grigri2 rather than the +.

i have used the grigri+ primarily for rappelling on a single strand static rope when i am top rope soloing. it does this perfectly. the extra durability from the stainless steel wear plate will make this device last for a really long time. the safety trigger gives me confidence when having ,less experienced climbers lowering me or themselves on rappel. the grigri+ works great and is the best grigri available for my needs.

Many devices are trying to take the king's seat but until now unsuccessful. From 1992 Grigri is still the best in all situations for single rope: very effective belaying same as rappelling, moreover unique choice for self belaying. Most trusted single rope belaying device in market, the standard's reference. Nowadays Beal Birdie is copying the concept with relative success.

Wonderful piece of kit, allows me to trust my 17 year old to belay me safe in the knowledge that if he has a lapse of concentration I would not hit the dirt! I have not used the older versions but the brake lock if you over-pull it I can see being a lifesaver and the two modes for top rope and lead climbing work well.

Petzl Grigri+ is a very well made assisted braking belay device. Rope feeds smoothly for both lead and top rope climbing. Been using this product for a few months now and have no complains. Suitable to be used for work or recreational climbing, indoors or outdoors. Would recommend for a beginner or advanced climber.

Not the easiest belay device to use so there's a learning curve for sure. Hard to pay out when lead belaying.Also if you climb trad on twin ropes this won't work. Same applies to abseiling on two ropes. You'll need to carry a standard two rope device and a prussacVery safe though and glad of the purchase.

If your looking for an amazing belay device this is definitely the one for you. Recently I was just using the black diamond atc and this is a huge step up, the autolock is amazing and conserves energy from having to use strength to hold the climber. Definitely recommend

I use it for top rope soloing and general belaying. For top rope soloing it acts like a shunt, belay and an ascender. You just have to learn to use it. It catches every time, but knots are recommenced. Light, durable, and literally three devices in one.

Most amazing thing I have ever purchased. Yes, it’s expensive, but I would spend 3x as much for a product as durable and reliable as this one. Complete strangers can belay me with this device, and I will feel safe and secure the whole time

TrekkInn have always delivered quality, products at great prices. Things are shipped from Spain and squires from manufacturers so something take a bit longer than Amazon but if you want a great price what does an extra day matter?

Very good product. I looked for it for its antipanic system and for the metal sheet that prevents it from wearing out as much as the grigri 2. I need to check it after a while and see its duration compared to the grigri 1

Great product. Would have liked better packaging. It was bad with packaging around the stuff. It is still protective equipment that I ordered and I do not know how much it has been thrown around during transport.
