I have several reel, including 4 Abu Garcia Mitchell 488 still use them and they work great, but this one wins the jackpot. This perfectly balanced, the system Live Liner works great, in fact I will buy other two, a SSV9500 and SSV10500. The Shipping was fine, but because it is so delicate, I would recommend using a different shipping method tham USPS.As I said, in my previous review, that I wanted to buy other penn reels, but I decided, again, for SSV8500LL, every penny is well spent in this reel !!! no more comments, I leave a picture of my reel in my Pinnacle Grafite Rod ...

I have not had the chance to use the liveliner feature on this rod yet but have used the reel several times since purchasing. The 8500LL can hold a very generous amount of line. Purchased the reel to fish for bigger fish such as Tarpon but have caught some nice small fish with a surf rod as well. Bale holds open a little firmer than other spinning reels I own but is great when trying to cast a long way out without the bale closing prematurely. I have already ordered the 4500LL in order to put on a smaller action pole just to show how much I really like it.

5 Stars based on build quality and smoothnessJust got this reel for a Tarpon setup .. Paired with 50lb braid and a Shakespeare BWSJL220060 Ugly Stik Tiger Lite Jigging RodSo far only had one opportunity to use it and held small Tarpon .. Dragged it to the boat in 30 secondsThe live line drag is still a bit stiff on minWill update in a couple months after putting it through its paces

I used this reel to surf fishing and put it though the ringer. I went for a swim more then once, got sand covered and the seals did there job keeping every thing out of the real. Was able to pull in a citation drum with a smooth fight. Cant what to put it to the next test. Bottom Fishing.

Love this reel.. I caught a 33" 13 pound blue fish and it was a breeze to pull in..spooled it with 65lb test braided with a 5 oz weight with a 12 foot ugly stick..

Penn has the BEST fishing reels in the market. I have many of them to include a torque reel... won't use anything but Penn!!!

The best reel I have purchased so far. It landed me a nice barracuda on my cliff fishing trip recently.

I love this reel. So far, I’ve pulled in a couple nice bluefin with it, 30lbs. It was so easy.
