We have a few other Orchard Toys games (Spotty Dogs, Pizza Pizza and Can You Guess) and one thing I really like about their toys is that they always seem to have some sort of educational slant so that your child is learning whilst having fun and playing. I bought a couple of sets of this game recently as it was on offer here on Amazon for less than half its usual price and the set I have kept at home (given other to my sons school) has quickly become a favourite game for my little daughter. The game arrives in a handy carry box which contains:-1 x Main Playing Board (This is in a jigsaw style and is made up of 6 jigsaw pieces that slot together)1 x Stand Up Party Table (made up of a table topand two legs)4 x Rucksacks4 x Present Cards24 x Accessory Cards1 x Dice8 x Character Pieces (3 Boy Cards & 5 Girl Cards)8 x Character Stands1 x Instruction Leaflet (Has English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Swedish, Turkish, Arabic and Japanese)Suitability:-The game advises it is suitable for 2-4 players and children aged between 4-8 years old however my daughter is younger than this and can play this game very well. I would say that this game could be played by a child over 2 years old with a little bit of adult help. How to Play:Each player selects a backpack and a character playing piece which they place onto one of the four pink arrows around the board whilst keeping their backpack near them to fill with cards when they win them. Taking it in turns each player rolls the dice and moves their character the number of spaces shown on the dice. If the player lands on a space with either an accessory or present picture then they can take the matching card and place it into their backpack. Each player needs 5 accessory cards and 1 present card in their rucksack to win and they cannot have more cards than needed i.e. they can't have 2 present cards in their backpack and effectively block another player from getting that piece - so no adult tactical play allowed. When a player has the 5 accessory cards and 1 present card in their backpack they can move their character piece up one of the balloon paths to the party table in the middle and the first player to reach the table wins. There are a couple of extra rules to make the game more interesting and a little harder such as if you land on a fallen over backpack space then you have to take one of your cards out of your backpack and put it back so that it can be selected again by anyone and also if a player lands on a phone space then they can pretend to phone another player who again has to take one of their cards out of their backpack and put it back so that it can be selected again.Summary:-Once you have played the game once it is really easy to play and I hope my version of how to play hasn't confused anyone reading this as I may not have explained it well enough. I have deducted a star from my marking for the backpacks as they are just made of thick paper and so I can see them not lasting the test of time and repeated play and I wish Orchard Toys had made these from either plastic or thicker card. Other than the backpacks the game quality is really good and all the other parts except for the character stands and dice are made from a thick card. I like that the game teaches matching and counting and also how to play nicely and take turns. Another really good game from Orchard Toys and one of my daughters favourite games to play at the moment.

"Party Party Party" is a decidedly girlie board game aimed at players from 5-9. It is made by Orchard Toys, who are a British games' manufacturer. It was one of the items my daughter recently received for her birthday, and it is already a firm favourite. If you are familiar with Orchard Toys, you will know that all their games are made of wipeable cardboard and designed to be long lasting. This game has a board which has 4 pieces that slot together to make the game board, 4 paper 3-D handbags and a number of stand up characters, a suitably girlie purple dice and 24 party accessory cards which have printed pictures on them. This is a game for 2-4 players.Game play:The aim of the game it to race your party goer (there's a selection to choose from),around the board by throwing the dice and pick up items for the party. You need to get a present and 5 other items and put them into your bag. You can pick up an item if you land on its picture and if no one else has already taken it. Once your bag is full you must continue to throw your die and make your way to the "party" - the centre of the board. The first player there wins and the rest can carry on until they join the party too.The handbag has a corrugated bottom into which to stand the cards, before racing to the centre and being the first to party. There is a slight twist, in that if you land on the mobile phone icon you "phone" another party goer of your choice and can nab one of their items. It's pretty simple stuff, and perhaps rather less educational than your typical Orchard game. That said, trying to acquire pictures of bits of make up, jewellery and other "girl stuff" does seem to appeal to a girl audience, my daughter and her friends seem to enjoy this game and are able to play it by themselves as it is straightforward. There is no real challenge or skill involved to this game (other than choosing who to be nasty to when you "phone" them), and it is essentially a game of chance. The handbags are a fun idea but no longer pristine after a bit of use - they are not as well made as the board and box. The game is maybe a bit "pink" but let's face it exactly the kind of thing that pre-teen girl market seems to have embraced these days. It is probably best suited for girls who will play carefully.Overall:This is a pretty good game for the price that will provide lots of fun. We love Orchard Toys games in this house, and it is nice to have a game that is a bit more grown up than some of the others we own. I recommend it for any little girl who likes to party!

My daughter is six. When she was younger I used to play a number of Orchard Toys' games with her: 'Pop to the Shops' and 'Ladybirds' spring to mind. 'Party Party Party' is for 5- to 9-year-olds, which seems about right although I'm not sure 9-y.o.s would be interested. The aim of the game is to go round the board collecting accessories and presents in a handbag, and then, when the required number of items have been collected, to get to the 'party' in the centre of the board. Other players can force their opponents to empty their handbags, though.Like all Orchard Toys' products, it's well made and well thought-out. Maybe it's not as educational as the games I mentioned in the first line, but there's more strategy involved and there are more things to think about. I have yet to find a poor game from Orchard Toys. I would definitely recommend this one.

I absolutely love playing games with my 5-year old daughter, although sometimes I struggle to really connect when she is wanting to play princesses! As per poor old dad, my imagination just isn't used to this sort of thinking!! Imagine my thoughts when she got this game - each player gets a handbag, and you go round the board looking for accessories and presents before you can go to a party. Sometimes you can "drop" your handbag spilling the contents - new experience that for me.... However my daughter loves this game, and I couldn't even imagine how many times I have played this. Its perhaps not as "educational" as some of the other Orchard Toys, but this is just good fun.Her pals love to play with this one too.All in all, has to be the thumbs up all round. Even from her Dad!

My daughter was given this for her 5th birthday and it is brilliant fun. Not, perhaps, particularly educational but both my children (5 and 3.5) love playing it (and actually I do too). The premise is that you're on your way to a party and have to collect a present and 5 accessories on your way. If you "drop" your bag by landing on one of the 4 dropped-bag squares then you lose one of your items. The first person to collect all the items and get to the party wins. Each of the accessory cards is fun and my (very girlie) daughter loves finding the sunglasses or lipstick or glittery pencil cards.... I highly recommend this for some family fun and girlie indulgence without spending more money!

Bought this for my six year old daughter but as the game is visually attractive, the rules are very simple, and no reading is involved, my 3 year old son also enjoys playing. It would appeal particularly I imagine to very "girlie" girls, aged 3-7. I think my daughter would have liked it even more had she been given it when she was a couple of years younger. I agree with another reviewer that the recommended age range (5-9) is probably a bit high, and can't see the game holding the attention of many nine year olds due to its simplicity. However it's good fun for younger children, and has been played several times in our house already.

My two children love this game as it is a lot of fun, great images, simple enough that my 5 yr old can play just as well as my 7 yr old. This is game is won on luck not skill so good for mixed age groups. Also, relies mainly on imagery of the game pieces rather than written play cards so easier for younger children to participate and play "on their own" as only a little simple counting is required.Only draw back is that the "handbags" are made from very flimsy card and can easily get damaged/squashed/come apart. Definitely one for gentle play and keeping away from younger children.

My daughter got this game as a gift for her 5th birthday. It is great because she is just beginning to show an interest in fashion and accessories like those included in the game. This game is good for enhancing simple counting skills and taking turns. Easy to follow rules too. All in all, great for 'little misses'!. I also bought another great game called Bus Stop by Orchard Toys which I think just has the edge for enhancing simple maths skills and is also suitable for boys.

A little more complex than some of the other orchard toys range but my daughter understood it at 4.5yrs old when explained to her, you will need to p!at it with them at that age though, but shouldn't we all be interacting with our children more anyway??As always, instructions are very clear, contents are well made without being heavy or chunky......and one further point......these games are British Made!!!

I bought this game for my friend's daughter, it was her 4th birthday and she loves board games. This game is suitable for 5-9 year olds but it can be a great fun for the whole family, unless you have a really big familly as this game is for 2-4 players. I contacted my friend and she said that the game is interesting and entertaining and the birthday girl was very happy with her present :) thank you

We bought this game for our girls for Christmas and they loved it even their dad joined in and collected some lovely make-up presents. We have quite a few orchard tree games and I liked the set up of this game, it's not too long or too short and keeps the children's attention. We do have a few tantrums if someone lands on a spilt handbag, especially from their dad. Ha ha worth the money.

A very simple, straight-forward Orchard game. The makers really must be mass producing those small square-rounded tiles as they appear in virtually every Orchard game!!This is a pretty to look at, very girly, game. It's very simple - basically pick up 5 tiles ( objects ) and 1 gift and stick it in your purse. Thats..about..it. But..it's good..it's worth the £8.Recommended.

We got my son a similar game a few years ago and because was good quality biught this for my daughter. Good family game based on luck rather than skill although here smaller hands have made better dice rolls... We have played a few times as a whole family and can already see we will be playing more in the weeks and months to come. Very happy!

11.7.2010

We have all enjoyed playing this - from my four-year-old who chose it herself because of the pink box to her Dad. Would say the suggested age range is a little high - 4-7 perhaps... It isn't designed to be particularly educational but encourages imaginative play. My daughter enjoyed acting out the party with the dolls at the end.

27.4.2014

I bought this for my daughter's 7th birthday, and we've all had great fun playing it. I do envisage some of the components going missing at some stage as there are lots of little accessory cards and sweet little cardboard handbags. The game is really bright and pretty, and little girls everywhere will love it!
