I bought the Defender for the 3GS back in 2009 as soon as I bought the 3GS. I loved it so much that I bought the same case for the iphone 4S. But the 4S version didn't fit right - the rubber flaps for the ports was difficult to slot in and out, the case creaked when you used the phone and I ended up replacing it with the Griffin Survivor version. Whilst this seemed to work well initially, it had problems (using the flash meant there was a red cast to everything, and I ended up ripping off the charging port cover). It also left scratches on the iphone where it rubbed against it.Four years later, it was time to upgrade and I bought the 6S. Reading the reviews showed the Lifeproof and Griffin Survivor cases had problems.Early Otterbox Defender reviews were also critical but the later ones were better. On this basis, I bought the Otterbox Defender case. It was a tad tricky to peel off the rubber mould and open the plastic case but it's not something you'll do regularly.Pros - i love the feel of the case and it definitely doesn't feel like it will slip. There's a cut out for the home button which is covered with a clear plasticky film. The Touch ID feature works without any difficulty so the film doesn't appear to intefere with use. The screen feels the same as it did for the previous iterations and doesn't interfere with the use of the iphone.Cons - there's a cut out for the front camera/ear speaker and for the rear camera/flash and these are unprotected. I'm debating sticking a screen protector on the front and back to avoid any issues. The volume and sleep buttons require more force to press but nothing that I wouldn't expect from using a case like this. Again, the cutouts for the earphones/silent switch/charging port are stiff and don't fold back easily. This means it's a two handed operation to do anything - you need at least one thumb to peel out the flap and a finger from the other hand to insert charger/earphones etc. When you peel back the flap, the front bezel rubber also twists and this concerns me with respect to longevity.Currently, I'm happy with the case for its primary function - protection of the phone. I'm giving it four stars but will update if there are any changes.

I've used OtterBox for a number of years. Recently, I removed the Defender case which had been on an iPhone 5 from new, and the phone was in mint condition (I doubt it will be now that my wife has put it into a more fashionable, but far less protective Joules flip cover). Having replaced the 5 with an iPhone 6S, I was concerned by the number of reports of poor-fitting cases, the result of the 6S being fractionally thicker than its older sibling. No such worries with the Defender case. It fits the 6S perfectly, and by comparison to the case for the 5, adds some excellent new features. The screen protector is built into the case itself, so there's (seemingly) no risk of air bubbles appearing, the home button is protected (the TouchID feature works flawlessly despite the covering) and the Apple symbol on the back of the phone is now visible but protected from scratches (a weak point in the 5's case). Yes, you lose the iPhone's sleek lines behind the Defender's utilitarian black plastic, but I value protection over aesthetics every time. The biggest issue was figuring out how to take the case apart in order to fit it around my phone. But once I'd figured it out, the three pieces went on perfectly. I've only dropped it once, but the phone survived intact and unblemished.OtterBox aren't the cheapest - but if you're carrying around a £600-£700 phone and you haven't got money to burn replacing it, buying one of their cases is a no-brainer.

If I could give an extra half star I would (4.5 stars)I had an Otterbox on my last phone because let's face it, who doesn't drop their phone at least twice a day? Oh... hmmmm... Thought there would be more on board with that one. I love that instead of going crash my phone bounces when I drop it on a hard surface. It does an excellent job of protecting my little electronic leash whenever I'm out an about. I particularly like the holster because I can clip it to my pants, belt, or purse and know it's secure and not going to fall off into a toilet of something. Not that has ever happened... My husband thinks it is a bit bulky, but it is honestly the safest thing I've come across for a phone if you tend to drop your phone often.I would give the Otterbox 5 stars if it was a bit more water resistant. The rubber parts are great, but there are holes in the front cover for the speaker and one of the buttons. If you spill something on your phone while it is sitting face up on a table, it can get into the holes and then you have to take the otterbox off to get the liquid out which is a bit of a hassle. The other issue is that the water tends to seep in from this area, so if I have a drop of water on that corner, it gets sucked into the otterbox and then I have to take it all apart agin. If they could develop a thin rubber gasket around those spots I would give it a full 5 stars!

After dropping my iPhone 6S Plus during a recent trip to India and using a cracked screen for a week, then paying 120 pounds on return for a repair at the Apple store, I decided to go way overboard with this case. Its likely the sturdiest case you will ever put your phone in - and linked to the hard screen that doubles as a clip likely unbreakable! The case comes into two pieces - an internal shell that covers the phone and has the screen protector on, and then and outer rear rubber shell to give shock resistance. The clip and hard screen protector are then optional - I'll likely not use. They fit perfectly and provide all round protection. In use its very bulky - nigh on tripling the width of your phone - it becomes a big old protected beast.Having dropped it once again though, and still having a screen, well, what can I say - works. The internal shell screen protector in use is fine - no gap when using. Its plastic and feels it though. I think I would prefer no plastic and the option to fit a tempered glass screen. Would lose the sealed protection this has though. In use the fingerprint cover is fine and works. sometimes a little delayed, but generally good. All the protection you will ever need - at the price of a massive amount of bulk and weight.

Arrived next day , super fast standard delivery .I bought this to protect my iPhone 6 Plus as I have children who occasionally use it. At first I couldn't work out how to get the rubber bit off of the phone but after many searches on you tube, found that you get the corner of your tesco clubcard and put it into the line that separates the rubber cover from the plastic cover and pick the rubber case off with that . I removed the screen protector with some tweezers and scissors as the home button didn't work as well with it on and I already had the ankler glass protector on it. I removed the excess glue with nail varnish remover and cotton wool .Putting the cover on was easy and my phone feels so protected with the hard shell and rubber casing . It is expensive and slightly bulky in comparison to normal cases but I have no doubt that it will last a very long time as its excellent quality and weighing up the cost of a few cheap covers that won't last and potential repairs , I think it's money well spent. I also like the optional hard cover with the clip , I put this on the front screen when the phone is in my bag just to protect the screen even more or when I'm listening to music while doing the housework . Have had it 7 months and still good as new

I just realised I’ve had this on my phone for 2 years and it’s still going. Unfortunately that doesn’t include the screen section which I removed after a few days due to the annoying plastic sound and feel, and the reduction in touch screen sensitivity. So ive used this case not being waterproof, but I wanted this more as a shockproof case anyways. On occasions my phone has got wet and the screen less case has offered some protection. On a million drops, yes I’m clumsy and work outside a lot, I have smashed my screen 2 times in 2 years which is pretty good, both times the phone landed flat on its face and maybe on a stone. But those countless screen smashes I used to get before this case, from the corner tip of the screen hitting on a drop, I no longer worry about, and yes apparently that is the most common way you crack your screen. In addition this case offers a sort of grip as its rubber, so you are way less likely to drop it, or for it to slide off something, or slip out your pocket. I like it, I’d get it again, for its shockproof ability, and ease and comfort of use.Anyways when APPLE decide to play fair and put shatterproof glass on their phones, I’d probably still get this case.

As always from Otterbox, another great product. I recently purchased a new phone and stupidly bought a different case for it because I liked the look and it was a bit cheeper. Bad move. I realised as soon as I had put the new case on the phone I had made a mistake. It just didn't feel secure enough, so I went and ordered an Otterbox which is what I should have done to start with. Now I feel confident my nice new phone will be secure. I had an Otterbox Defender on my previous phone for about 3 years and it saved my phone many times. Yes it makes your phone a a bit chunkier and a bit heavier but it's worth it. What do you expect if you want great protection. The only thing I will say that I don't like is the in built screen protector. It really isn't good. I bought a hard glass protector and ripped off the plastic one that was attached to the Otterbox (I did this last time with my previous phone) and It's so much better now. The screen is much better to use and feels nicer. I can not recommend this highly enough if you want you phone to feel solid and secure. Just get rid of the screen protector and buy a hard glass one and you're good to go and rough it.

Excellent product as always from Otterbox. This is my second Otterbox phone cover, the last one protected my old phone so well that the manager of my local phone shop said that my old phone looked like new, although it's 3 years old.I dithered about the price of the Otterbox this time and tried one other cover and two separate screen protectors, none of which provided a satisfactory level of front and back protection for the phone. Otterbox covers are not cheap but are well worth the expense. I should have just bought this one from the start. The level of drop protection is second to none, and the built-in screen protector has not noticeably limited response at all.Moving apps to another screen is marginally harder and requires some delicate fingerwork due to the case edges, but then it's not the easiest thing to do at the best of times and it's a very minor niggle that won't spoil my enjoyment of the case one bit. Also worth noting that the home button is uncovered so the fingerprint recognition is unaffected by the case.Do not hesitate - if you want the most rugged protection available for your S7, look no farther and buy this case!

Ordered this for my new iPhone 6s+ and it fits just fine. The difference between the old & new phones is about 100th of an inch so no issues there. The case is two plastic shells clipped together, then sealed in by the rubberised cover which covers the back and sides. Getting that rubber cover off to open the case for installation took quite a bit of perseverance, its pretty tight and you're always worried you're going to break it by doing something stupid. Once on the case is excellent, very sturdy and the front part stands well proud of the screen in case you drop it face first. It has a clear protective screen built in that covers the screen and the home button. It fits well and there's no issues with the tiny air gap interfering with button pushes as people have reported with the Griffin version. The finger print recognition works perfectly too. It comes with a clip on holster of sorts which allows you to attach the phone to your belt, since it's way too big for many pockets. Would get 5 stars if it were a bit cheaper.

I have had the S6 since it came out and I ordered this case the same day so nearly two years I have had it which leaves me in a great position to write a thorough review on it. This has been on my phone for nearly two years and is still as sturdy and presentable looking as when I got it. I had the previous Otterbox when I had the S3 and the flap at the charging port wore away and eventually split off- not the case with this one which I am glad of. Buttons for volume and power etc still in working order and screen protector is fine, I see other reviews mentioning that dirt and dust collect there but I have not found this to be the story. I have had quite a few drops and water splashes and this case has brushed it off no problem,my phone is immaculate. Overall the best case on the market and a brand I will stay with. I paid full price for it obviously as it was new but at the price you can get it for now is a real bargain.

Maximum protection for your phone is guaranteed if you use this case. It has stood the test of some dangerous drops. Though a little bulky but I'm sure that speaks for itself. Small price to pay for protection.I just personally wish there was a version of this case that does not have all the access points covered. Kind of cumbersome for me opening flaps for chargers and earpiece and silent buttons. I don't care much about the dust getting into the phone case and I definitely did not use the screen saver that came with it. I ripped it out and got myself a nice glass screen protector and the thickness of the glass did not affect the tight fitting of the case at all. Also with time,if You you have itchy fingers to remove the rubber casing frequently , it may get loose quickly. So if u really don't have to remove the phone from the case, let it be and enjoy the fitted protection.Otherwise, lovely case indeed.

The last smart phone I had got broken (even though it was protected) so I thought I'd invest in a decent case this time. A mate of mine is a landscape gardener and I thought his Otterbox looked a bit cool so I decided to do a bit of research with a view to buying my own. Most reviews were positive and the ones which weren't seemed to be written by people whose expectations were a little too high. They were expecting a fully waterproof and dustproof case. Which naturally this isn't. I shopped around and decided on the Defender as I work onsite and a number of people were saying good things about it. I'm certainly not disappointed. It's a good solid case which still allows the phone to function fully. There's a hole for audio, speaker and camera. Yes it makes everything more bulky which ups the pain in the bum factor of owning a smart phone but let's face it, it's becoming more difficult to live without them.

This is case is phenomenal, amazing protection, excellent grip, although most people don't like bulky cases. I do like them, without a case on the your iPhone especially IPhone 6. It makes it really easy to drop and smash but with this case, it's a whole different story. I didn't rate this a five star because of the screen protector, the screen protector is good and gives extra protection for your screen but I've found out, there's a small gap between the phone and the actual screen protector which is a bit iffy and it makes typing a bit longer which is a bit annoying. Also the charging port, it doesn't suit 3rd dimensional chargers which I was very concerned with, luckily,I had a spare charger so I didn't have to buy another one. The two lines between the flap of the charging port only allows normal apple chargers but not 3rd dimensional cables, other than that. The case is flawless in my opinion.

I had one these for 18 months before it got a bit shabby. So I decided to purchase a new one. I compared this with my old one and they are identical. Even the packaging is the same. I brought my first one directly from Otterbox so I believe this is a genuine product. It fits my Samsung S6 nice and snug. I've tried it on my wireless charger and the mobile charges perfectly. The ports are all accessible and the camera lens are not covered. I experienced no problems with my last cover it protected my mobile well. Every month I would dismantle and give everything a good clean. The only real issue I experienced is the screen cover has a hole for the home button. Sometimes dust gets through the hole and under the screen protector. This was never a big issue for me but maybe so if you work in a high dust area. I would highly recommend this case if you need protection for your mobile phone.

Great Case Minor Issues though firstly the case looks great and it is protecting the phone very well. From an installation point of view however, you have to be quite patient to install the phone into the case. It's not a simple case of sliding it on. The rubber casing has to be gently prised off exposing a clam style casing which needs to be unclicked and the phone placed inside. This is time consuming and I had to go on YouTube to see how was best way to do it without damaging the case.Once sorted thing it does protect my phone extremely well the only niggle I have with the design itself is the headphone port is covered By a rubber flap and puts a lot of pressure on the cable once headphones are plugged in.The difficulty installing he phone into the case and this is why I have given it four stars and not five. If you can live with those issues then it's a worthy purchase.
