Both of our children love this basic skills board. The individual sections are easy to take out and out back in like a simle puzzle. Our 15m old enjoys taking the pieces out and putting them in again, whilst our 3 year old prefers using the zips and buttons as practice. The press stud fastening helped him learn how to undo and do up his trousers properly as many have poppers on the waist, and practicing with the zip has helped him learn to do his own coat up which he's so proud of. Really good quality item and will last many years here, enabling our little ones to learn new skills, help with manual dexterity and coordination, gaining independence, confidence and lotsunami more I'm sure!

This is a good puzzle with some good skills to learn along the way. Bother my two year old and four year old like it though it is very straightforward and simple for my little girl who has just turned four.On the puzzle, you have various activities like lacing and zipping etc. the buckle is a little difficult and fiddly to operate. The problem with this is you need to be organised and watch what your child is doing, or else the pieces get lost extremely quickly! They aren't joined into the board. So it's great for playing with more than one child at a time, but it does mean you need to keep an eye and store it safely.Recommended.

I love, love, love Melissa & Doug! This basic skills board is absolutely brilliant. It is beautifully made with a bright painted hardwearing surface and a good thick board. Each of the 6 'skills' pieces comes out so that the whole thing is like a puzzle. There is a large button and buttonhole - very durable stitching on the button and excellent quality thick cord fabric, there is a popper, laces, zip, belt buckle and a plastic clasp/buckle like a car seat buckle. It's a lovely toy and all my boys love it, from age 1 to 5 1/2.We have quite a few Melissa & Doug toys and I can't recommend them highly enough.

Great item. Not only does each piece help children learn a new skill i.e lace, press stud, belt etc. but the actual pieces come apart to form a wooden jigsaw too. I bought this for my daughters 3rd birthday, though the lace feature is made with the silky style rope thread that is very slippy to tie for little ones. It's well made and a large size for little hands to grasp, but my daughter will be a little older before she can master everything. Very good quality. I paid £10.50 for this when the price dropped. However, I wouldn't want to pay much more than that.

I love Woden toys and don't think there is much better than Melissa & Doug for their quality and insight into what children find interesting. I remember learning to tie my shoelaces and also teaching my children and just how frustrating it can be for all concerned. This takes all the agro out of it and makes it fun. All children have a fascination with buttons zips etc so Melissa & Doug have taken this and made a board up with fastens of every description on it. My grandchildren love it and when they have finished with it I will put it away for their children.

This was a great buy as is helping my child master the essential for life and in a fun and interesting wayA bright and colourful board and great physical activities as well as talking points.Larger than I imagined it to be so great value for money.Nice wood for the skills board and really sturdy to cope with the play times of heavy handed toddlersEach of the pieces with the skills on are really also very sturdy and withstand lots of heavy play without falling apart of succumbing to this heavy play.Would definitely recommend this.

I bought this for a three year old with a fascination for keys and fasteners, and it has been a huge hit with her. The board is sturdy and attractive with four opening flaps with pictures hidden inside. The key is firmly attached to the board with a sturdy webbing strap, and the metal parts are all securely fastened to the board. She has quickly sussed out the combinations for both the suitcase lock and the 'safe', but this has not detracted from the enjoyment as she returns to this puzzle again and again.

Really nice quality and well made - this will last for a while. Because it is well made, I don't feel like I have to worry about buttons or laces coming off. They seem very secure. My 15 month old is not so interested in the buckles, buttons, etc just yet. But you can also use this like a jigsaw puzzle, so it's dual use. I like the little detail of the bear being in his underwear when you remove the pieces, I think older toddlers would find this quite funny. Another lovely toy from this brand.

That product is fab it's lovely quality and my daughter played with the pieces for ages My 2 year old loved it aswel she's only just turned 2 and product says from 3 plus she picked it up very quickly and was able to do every task on her own apart from the lace tying I've not seen anything else like this around so think it would make quite a unique gift It's bigger than I thought from the pics which was nice , kids can sit on the sofa with this on their lap encourages problem solving

Have only had this toy for a short while, but so far it is a hit with not only my 3 year old (for whom it was intended) but also my 18 month old who uses it as a puzzle. After only a week my son can now do the belt and clip and has taken an interest in threading the shoelace. The only downside I can see is that the black buckle is too difficult for me to open (let alone a child). Am hoping with time, with use, it gets a bit easier.

Although my 14 month old Granddaughter is supposedly a little young for this activity board she loves to fiddle with all the different fastenings and should still be finding it fun in many months time – so that's good value. You may want to keep an eye on your wee one's progress with the snap fastener though, if it happens to be too similar to the one on their push-chair?An interesting, good-looking toy.

The board otself is bigger than I thought expected. It’s a brilliant idea for a learning toy and thee dress up teddy/ puzzle way it’s made definitely makes it more interesting to a toddler. Only criticism would be the pieces don’t fit flush into the holes. One of the arm pieces requires some jiggling to fit, which isn’t the best for a clumsy toddler trying to put it together but that could be just ours

The board is twice as thick as typical puzzle boards. Usual excellent m&d quality wooden toy, which stands up to abuse. 3/4 of the locks were beyond my son when he was 18mo but he had got it by 2yo. I had trouble with the first board where the 000 code stopped opening the latch but Amazon did an easy swap. My son had completely lost interest in it by the time he was 3.

It is bigger than I thought. My son loved it, loved the puzzle and all the basic functions it provides. 2 or 3 pieces are a bit hard to connect, but nothing like a little help can't solve it. It s very well made.I recommend it. I didn't pay full price but after seeing it, holding and using it, it is probably something that I wouldn't mind paying full price.
