I bought this for light duty applications to cause enough of a hassle that a potential thief will just move on. By no means would I expect plastic housing and a thin 3mm diameter wire cable to offer any serious protection. This lock is great for locking up your gear for just the few minutes that you'll be away from your stuff. For less than the price of a few fancy coffees, this lock gives you peace of mind when you leave your stuff behind to use the restroom or go in a store to buy a sandwich. I've also used this in hotel rooms to secure my smaller luggage and items from sprouting legs and walking off while I'm out and about. This one replaced a similar lock that I've been using for years that I lost during a move.So far, the locking mechanism works smoothly and reliably. The cable locks and releases smoothly. I haven't had any problems with it yet.The retracting wheel works great, at about 3 feet length of cable I find that there's sufficient length to wrap around pretty much anything, and the whole thing doesn't weigh all that much or take up too much space. Something to consider if you're up snowboarding, or hiking around with a large pack, or looking to carry it with you all day in your backpack.

The Kryptonite R2 is a low-security lock which helps to deter pilferage. It is compact and easy to use. I use it to secure my bike when I stop for a meal or go into a shop for a short while. If you require a high-security lock to secure your belongings, this is not the lock for you.Minor cosmetic difference between the lock pictured on Amazon and the actual lock delivered (See uploaded photo).Follow instructions carefully when resetting the combination, to avoid setting the wrong set of numbers - retract cable fully, push the reset pin and then push the cable end backwards INTO the lock, before resetting the numbers.Trek used to have a retractable cable lock that slides onto a small plastic bracket that attaches to the bottom of the bike’s bottle cage, but this is no longer available. The Kryptonite R2 is identical to the Trek H2O Cage Lock, except for a couple of minor cosmetic differences. The bottom of the Kryptonite R2 has a grooved recess that attaches to the Trek bottle cage bracket (see uploaded photo). If you are looking for a replacement for the Trek lock, the R2 will do the job for you.

I was looking for a tether cable to daisy-chain my bicycle seat to my main cable lock, but instead found this for about the same price and it also secures my seat independently, saving me from chains of daisies. The body is light plastic. The cable is thin but coated. It's definitely built for *accessory* security.I have this tightly helix-wound around my frame and through the seat posts.I leave it locked in place unless I want to loop my helmet in.I removed one star, because although it has the benefit of being Kryptonite clip-lock ready, it doesn't include the standard plastic mount you get with other Kryptonite products. It doesn't include any mount. Instead of being secured to my frame,it rests on top of my seat-pack, which is kind of inconvenient, but tolerable.

Lightweight, fits in back pocket of cycling top. Bought to use on cafe stops out with group and where bike will only be left for a short time. This lock will not deter a determined thief (not what it was intended for), but is perfect to stop a chancer riding away on your bike! I like the way the cable retracts when not in use. Long enough to secure one bike easily with cycling helmet to a rail, at a pinch it might get round 2 skinny road bikes. Numbers roll round easily which is good in gloves and cold fingers!Would highly recommend for the sort of use I described above.

Housing is plastic feels kind of cheap but the cable extracts very nicely and locks very nicely. Combination is very good also that's why I bought it because I didn't want to fool around with a key Good for light security, if you leave your bike and go in the store or restaurant By leaving the cable expose people can see that you have it locked on your bike it would stop a quick crack attic but a professional thief it would not stop. They would just cut the cable since it is not real thick. I like it though I feel more secure with it rather than have nothing.

Not robust enough for a bike lock, but the reason I bought it was to lock together expensive fishing reels in my check in luggage at airports. Such Items can't be carried in hand luggage. Airport baggage handlers, security staff and worst of all, TSA agents in the USA are opportunist thieves and are unlikely to be carrying cutters. If everything is locked together, they are unlikely to be able to take things without being spotted.

Unless you are carrying a bike lock weighing more than most enthusiast's bikes you are not going to stop a determined and well-equipped thief. However, for a relatively lightweight solution to deter a pick-up and go opportunistic theft, during the cafe stop for example, this lock is as good as any.

This is a moderately sturdy lock with a fairly long cable. I used it to lock skis to ski racks. Obviously it's not totally theft proof as wire cutters could cut the cable, but will deter casual thieves and people who take skis by mistake.

It is a nice lightweight lock for casual use. I can carry it in my bike bag but I notice it is designed to clip into a holder which is fixed to the bike. No information about this when I purchased so can you tell me more and also cost?

This combo lock is easy to set up and quick to use when I take my cafe break on a cycle ride. The wire is long enough to wrap round, and lock two bikes, quite easily. A good sized lock which I recommend.

I like there are 4 digits. The cord is flexible. I wish the cord had more notches to lock tighter. I wish I could lock the cord without the combination being entered.

I don't park in high crime areas, and my bike is not high-end. I love this lock because it is easy to use, takes almost no space, and I can set my own combination.

Does what it says it will do, but my only concern with it is on occasion it sticks and I've been concerned in case I won't be able to get my bike unlocked!

The buttons are a little cheap and plastic but it is in general, cheap and plastic. An extra cheap deterrent that keeps my motorcycle cover locked up.

Great lock, but there is not mount for a bicycle so I used duct tape. But you don't have a big cable dangling around.
