I never understood why people wanted to invest in platesMain reason was "When you drop one , you feel bad for the price you paid ..."BUT than we bought the starter set of Iittala ... it showed that this plates are not only beautiful to look at ;They are are made out of harder material so no surface defects after small impacts ( compared to others such as IKEA , HEMA , ... ) , and ... last but not least ... much easier to clean ( good porosity prop ).In my opinion products you use every day should be made of good Quality and a pleasure to use
