Since polarising filters work with bright sunny conditions, I haven't had much chance to use this but on the one sunny day when I was at the coast I was pleased with the effect as it cut the haze and left me with some brilliantly clear photos. It's a good quality filter, you can check this by rotating it in-front of your computer screen, if it's of poor quality you will not see the transition between light and dark. I have tried using the filter for waterfalls and mountains but as there was little sun, the effect wasn't noticeable. There are a couple of things that disappoint, it doesn't fit all my lenses as they are different sizes and secondly some lenses rotate their barrels when auto-focusingwhich will also turn the polarizing filter thus changing its effect and it's awkward to move the filter whilst the barrel is constantly moving. I found manual focus overcomes this, but that's not the fault of the filter. If you buy one then chose one that fits the lens you are likely to be using most.

This is the second one I have bought, the first was by another maker and had a knob on the outside which doesn't fit inside the lens hood on my long focus zoom lens, hence a second purchase, one for each lens. No hesitation giving it 5 stars because of the quality of manufacture and the ease of fitting, no false starts on the threads. And a polarising filter either works or it doesn't. This does. Recommended to anyone who wants to highlight blue skies and puffy white clouds or reduce reflections. Great stuff!

I was really pleased when I received this that it was the standard duo-coated "blue label" filter made in Japan instead of the budget uncoated "green label" made in the Philippines. It fits very smoothly and still allows the lens cap and hood to be attached. So far I've not noticed a huge difference in the photos other than them being slightly darker but I've not tested it too much yet. Although it does bring out more cloud detail.

This filter fits my 55m lens perfectly and screws on very smoothly. It turns easily and positively to adjust the polarisation effect. It has a good quality feel. It is threaded on the outside, but on fitting a second filter I found them difficult to separate, so if you do this don't screw them on too tightly.

I purchased this filter for my Panasonic TZ72 superzoom camera, and it does what it says on the tin! I am just waiting for some sun so that I can try it out. Well packed and arrived as promised. Well made and I would deal with this seller again.

i have meant to purchase a polariser for ages but just never got around to it, with the filter fitted to the lens you can see the change in the viewfinder and are then able to set the correct exposure or effect that you are looking for

Even allowing for over exaggeration on the recommended price of this filter, it was a bargain. Used on my Panasonic FZ72 bridge camera it functions as a circular polarising filter should and is highly recommended at the reduced price.

Well-fitting threads and a nice smooth rotary action. Turn the filter until reflections are minimised, for better images of water, or through glass. Don't forget to turn the filter if you rotate the camera from landscape to portrait!

I bought this filter as a present for my husband. I had done a lot of research before buying it and it was about half the price of other stores. It arrived very propmtly, within 24 hours of ordering it!

On my old SLR camera this was an essential piece of kit. On my new digital SLR it has proved to be also essential. I was considering a cheaper version but decided otherwise. A good choice.

As I am a Hoya user I bought this as a present for a family member just getting into photography. I'm sure he will be happy with the quality as I have been.

Is good quality for consumer range and the price is not bad at all.Hoya is a good brand and is producing filters also for Pro but check the price.

Have used this with my Sony DSLR and now (with an adaptor) on the NEX-5. Works as expected, easy to fit and adjust. Very happy with the purchase.

...because the difference made to the colour of outdoor pictures in bright sunlight is enormous, even on a digital camera.....
