Aorus Gaming 7I am never really happy with boards that cover up heat-sinks with stickers, but lets face it, most of the manufacturers do that these days. *sighs*I was disappointed with the block that "simplifies" the insertion of the case connections to the motherboard ( hdd led, power switch and so on ) in it sounded such a great idea but it was honestly more difficult to use that than to fiddle around using the old method - without the header. The SSD/NVMe heatsink is completely useless. It didn't even contact with the chips on the SSD/NVMe. There was a good 2mm or so gap. Not the worst thing in the world, though, I just had to add my own heatsink. I used the Gelid Solutions SubZero.Just a shame that Gigabyte couldn't come up with something similar.NVMe’s can run a little warm. The location of all the M.2 sockets is poor. All of them are too close to the graphics card. One is directly under the graphics card, which is the worst place it can be. The one by the CPU is directly above the graphics backplate. Even the lowest is not very far from the graphics card. I found in experiments this did make an impact on the NVMe temperature. The best location for the NVMe is in the lowest M.2 socket. It made no difference when the system was idle, but when the graphics card gets going it makes a very significant difference. Even when the graphics card was just 50 degrees, in the M.2 socket above the graphics card the NVMe went up ten degrees even when it was doing nothing. Obviously the heat was just coming off the graphics card. In the lowest M.2 slot, the temperature actually fell under system load. The air circulation around the lowest socket just seems to be a lot better than the top socket even though there was a card directly above it so when the system got hot the front fans picked up and made a huge difference to the lowest M.2. Using a PCIE adapter also seemed to reduce the overall temperature of the NVMe. By about five degrees. Again, it was in a better location to get cool air from the front case fans.So all in all if you want the coolest NVMe use an adapter. But if you don't want to use one of those then use the lowest M.2 socket. If you need to use two, then an adapter AND the lowest socket. Either way, never use the middle socket and only use the top socket if you have to.Overall it's a great board. It has everything you could need, including two network connections, which is rather handy. Mainly the board is of course for overclocking, otherwise why would you want all the extra features(?), but I have to say that I bought it because the Ultra Gaming 1.0 has VRM issues. When I wrote this the 2.0 was not available, which has better VRM circuitry.During installation the most important thing you need to know is to remove the plastic audio cover. It's not shielded so is just cosmetic. It's held in place by two small black screws under the board so once the board is in place you can't easily remove it. And you should remove it because it gets in the way of some pcie cards, especially graphics cards. Amazingly, especially the Aorus 1080ti!!This board has some nice touches like a power switch so you can power up the board even if your case power switch is not working. Some diagnostic displays and so on. Honestly though you are unlikely to use most of the nice touches unless you are overclocking. The supplied software is comprehensive albeit I didn't load most of it in. I just wanted the Windows BIOS update and RGB Fusion, which allows you to change the leds. At the moment you should update the BIOS when you get a board, because there are changes going in as we speak because the boards are fairly new. I actually wasn't very impressed with Fusion. It's simple to use and effective but it seemed to get a little confused with the graphics card ( which is also Gigabyte ). It controlled all things Gigabyte but didn't seem to quite get the graphics card right. How can I describe it? It seemed to change the colour of the graphics LED's but didn't change their mode ( pulse, wave, etc ) . Not that it matters, someplace there is utility specifically to program up the graphics card. I haven't looked in to that yet, but when I do I will update this review. The fan control really is excellent but since I have a Corsair water cooler, I use LINK instead. Almost a shame really. For air cooling I would definitely use the Gigabyte fan control. So, all in all, a great board. You would expect that at this price though.

This is the top-tier board from Gigabyte and I bought it at the day of release. This means that any problems described here could be fixed by bios update at the moment when you are reading this review. Most likely you have already seen some online reviews of the board, hence I won't waste your time with what you already know, just my experience.First of all - be careful when selecting the fan for this board. Not all of them are compatible. I bought the beQuiet Dark Pro 3 for it, and it's not compatible. I spent over an hour installing it, and succeeded, but you would not like to repeat that at home. You can read about this incompatibility at beQuiet website, but that information wasn't available at the moment of purchase.Consult the webiste of fan manufacturer before buying the fan.The problem is in plastic shields around the CPU socket - sometimes there is not enough clearance. One of the best features of this motherboard is audio. When using the cable, it sounds just like my external DAC. Gigabyte claims that audio electronics is separated to avoid interference, and the same claim is repeated by other manufacturers for their top-tier flagship boards. Well, it works. The USB DAC-UP ports with voltage customization is great for USB hubs, external drives and even flash drives and bluetooth dongles - I've got better speeds and signal quality when voltage was increased.I couldn't make this board work with Kingston M.2 SSD - the board just doesn't recognize it. Not a big deal for me, but if you are planning to use M.2 drives - look for possible compatibility issues online.I found no issues with fan control, thermal sensors or whatever else - the board works very well for over a month with 8700K.Oh, and pay attention that it doesn't have either Bluetooth or WiFi on board - if you require the Bluetooth for your headphones, then getting high quality dongle may be a problem later, as many of them aren't really compatible with Windows 10.The software for Windows is terrible. It's called the APP center, and if you would like to, say, set up the RGB to change color depending from the temperature of parts of your motherboard, then this windows service alone would take about 10% of your CPU constantly - and that's 8700K we are talking about. You can read about this problem online and it's still not fixed. It would be a useful feature if it would work. The fast boot feature didn't work - the bootable SSD wasn't found. I didn't try features like automatic overclocking for two reasons - I don't need to overclock what's already over-achieving, and I'm afraid the quality of overclocking app may be as dreadful as of other apps, so can't comment on this one.

A quick review on the brilliant board. The board is well built, very strong and heavy. It looks very expensive in the flesh. It has the debugging readout, overclock button, clear cmos button and reset at hand which saves a great amount of time.Nice heat sinks on the vrms. I tightened the vrm screws before installing to be on the safe side. Temps under 50c most of the time on stock while gaming. No more than 65c when overclocking at 4.8 and 4.9 Ghz so very cool. My Noctua D15s fan blows straight at the vrm heat sink which is why I prefer air coolers.RGB lighting is in full force here with lights everywhere.Full customization of lighting zones are great but the software is rubbish. It's a better idea setting your color in the bios and not installing the Gigabyte app center which is awful imo.Onboard audio is very good with both realltek and sound blaster built in. There's plenty of bass available which is surprising. It has a headphone amp for the front jack only with three levels available. If you want 7.1 headphone audio then you have to plug your headphone into the rear speaker port and then enable 'switch output speaker to headphone' on the Sound Blaster 720 application. You then get more options for headphone output but you can no longer use the amp in the realtek application. Not a problem for lower impedance headphones but may not be suitable for high Ohms headphones. I have a AE-5 sound card with more or less the same software but has dual amps so the onboard will go unused in my case but if you don't have a sound card already, you may not need one.It has Killer Nic ethernet which I didn't bother with. Intel nic will do just fine.I did run into a problem when I populated the board with a gpu, sound card and four sata connections. When I put the sound card in, one of my drives disappeared. I had to swap sata ports and leave port 0 and 1 empty. I think it has something to do with the pcie lanes and coffee lake cpu's not having that many. I could be wrong. The other thing was when I had everything up and running, I had minimum processor on 5 percent on high performance power plan which would down clock when I was overclocking. When I updated the bios it wouldn't down clock and my 8700k would boost to 4.7 Ghz while idling and lower when on load. I tried everything to fix it until I reverted back to the original bios which was F3. The latest bios was F5e and was problematic so avoid it.Other than that I think that this is an awesome motherboard. If anyone needs help, leave a comment. All the best.

Very solid board and have no complaints so far after a month of good use. The VRM's are some of the best at this price range and easily support my 8700k running at 5ghz with good temperatures - something which cannot be said of some other cheaper Z370 motherboards. No issues setting up with a NVME drive either (which can also be placed above the graphics card not only below for better thermals).Overall connectivity is definitely a strong point as some competitors seem to be lacking in USB ports on the back panel. The inclusion of a USB type C port on the back plus a header is also a nice to have to future-proof yourself. AC WiFi is also definitely a good selling point (and is interestingly missing from the Gaming 7 model)and works as expected for those of us who are unable to have wired connections. The BIOS is nothing outstanding, but has all of the settings you could pretty much ever need. The XMP profile on my RAM kit was easy to enable and runs at 3200mhz without issue, overclocking is also straightforward with multiple guides available if you need pointers. It's good to see Multi-core enhancement (MCE which auto overclocks k-series processors to max turbo across all cores) turned off by default as it should be - something which cannot be said of the Asus boards. Fan control is very easy and the board has plenty of hybrid fan ports - which is great to see for complex watercooling setups.Build quality is good and the reinforced PCI-e slots are nice for heavy graphics cards. My favourite feature has to be the ALC1220 audio though which (coming admittedly from poor onboard audio) sounds fantastic in comparison.I'm not that into the whole LED lighting game, but this board definitely suits those who are, as there are plenty of lights scattered all over. There are also options for adding additional lighting strips if that's your thing. Everything can be configured both in the BIOS and in the extra software (including turning it all off if needed) but my case doesn't have a window so I don't see it anyway.Overall at this price point this board is a very solid all rounder and I would recommend to any prospective Coffee Lake buyers.

I'm using this motherboard with an Intel 8700K, two sticks of Corsair RGB RAM, a NVIDIA Geforce 1080, a NVIDIA Geforce 970 and a 700W Silverstone Strider Titanium PSU along with watercooling inside a Phanteks Enthoo Luxe Tempered Glass case.Using the speaks-for-itself BIOS interface I was able to overclock the CPU to a stable 4.8Ghz. I actually got it to be stable at 5Ghz but I was unhappy with the temperatures, so the board was able to deliver the power to the CPU fine.I was really impressed with the level that I was able to configure the watercooling pump and case fans to. So now, in general usage, the computer is almost silent. It's only when the temperatures begin to ramp up that the pump starts moving water at it's max capacity and the fans start turning faster. I'm also impressed with the alarm if the watercooling pump stops working. It's the ability to tune the cooling solution that I would consider to be my favourite feature on this board and it was my main driving force to buy the Gigabyte motherboard. It's from the BIOS interface that you're able to change the colour of the the motherboard. By plugging my case into the RGBW port on the motherboard, it can be set to the same colour. Unfortunately, my Corsair RGB RAM doesn't seem to work with the motherboard so they just cycle colours at random which generally spoils the effect. This was down to the Corsair RGB RAM being advertised as working with Gigabyte RGB Fusion, when it doesn't actually support the Z370 board. It's got all the required ports on the back of the board, and the additional USB is the main reason why I went for this over the Gaming 7. I have had to buy a PCI-e SATA board as I use a number of SSDs which I'm still unwilling to give up. This isn't to say the board is stingy with the SATA ports as it has 6 (depending on how you use the M2 and PCI-e).The user manual is very informative and everything is explained in clear English.Bottom line: this is one of the best motherboards I've ever purchased and I'm yet to suffer any faults from it.

This board's specs look a bit plain on paper for the money it costs, without even the wifi module that the cheaper Gaming 5 has. However, it's more than made up for by the amazing quality of the components used. The VRM setup is unrivalled among Z370 boards, using Intersil ISL99227B Smart Power Stage MOSFETs, which are both an expensive and perhaps slightly overkill solution for a platform like this, but who doesn't love overkill on a high end motherboard? For overclocking an 8700K, there's nothing better on the market as of now.Even better is the audio solution, which features a very good quality ESS 9018Q2C DAC. Only one other motherboard on the market also has this part, which is the Asus ROG Zenith Extreme,a £500+ X399 board. That's paired with a good smart amp to automatically detect impedance of high end headphones, as well as WIMA capacitors, which I haven't seen on a motherboard before. I've owned many high end boards before, but have never encountered audio as good as this board produces. You'd need to spend a decent amount of money on a sound card to match it, let alone beat it.The UEFI is pretty simple and easy to use, although perhaps not the most "pretty" compared to the competition. It presents information in a clear, but mostly text-based way, rather than using tons of fancy graphics like those from other manufacturers. It's well laid-out, has all the features you'd want and is fast to navigate around. The onboard LED lighting is also way beyond what you see on most boards and will light your case up like several Christmas trees if you so desire (personally I have no interest, so just turned them off, which is a click of the mouse in the UEFI).Overall I'm extremely impressed with the board. It's a little on the pricey side, but you do get what you pay for in terms of quality. The current promotion offering £40 of Steam wallet credit with a purchase brings it real close to the price of some far inferior mid-range boards from the competition, presuming you use Steam. I highly recommend it.

The board is solid, no cheap plasticky parts that are there to fall off in the near future. The BIOS is easy to use and has tons of settings (for overclocking as well) and even updating the BIOS was relatively easy.Instead of giving shiny-looking custom-skins (GUI - which in some cases works in weird ways, for example their custom-looking scrollbars) for the Gigabyte software they should make them a bit more reliable and user-friendly/practical in some cases.Physically the pciex16 (GPU) slot is the one closest to the CPU socket: I wish it was a bit further from the CPU (by about a centimeter), it would make the board more compatible with the largest CPU coolers.I could still put my NH-D15 CPU cooler on this board (despite the fact that NH-D15 listed this motherboard as incompatible) but I had to mount it in a different orientation (with 90 degrees of rotation: the cooler flows the air bottom-up in my computer case and not the standard front-to-back direction). This way I still have a few millimetres of space between my GPU (msi GTX 1060 gaming x) and the CPU cooler. Note that mounting the cooler in this orientation might be practical only if your computer case has ventilation holes at the top like my Fractal Define Mini C.Overall I think this is a good motherboard and despite some of the previously mentioned flaws it deserves 5 stars at this price tag.

This motherboard is amazing! The RGB lighting adds great aesthetics to my pc build. I didn't have to buy additional led strips or RGB fans due to the motherboard already having stunning lighting. For overclocking it was a breeze, the bios was easy to use and I could overclock my i5 8600K to 5GHZ on an air cooler. It also offers auto overclock profiles for an easy performance boost, if you don't want to dive into the advanced settings. The smart fan control is great as it automatically adjusts the fans for the best noise to temps ratio, allowing a near silent system while idle. The motherboard also lets you shut off fans so you can get complete silence if your system runs cool enough.I also love that USB C is included for the future proofing, and you get 7 normal USB ports which is great for me as I have a lot of USB devices that needs to be hooked up.To sum it all up, if you're looking for the best value Z370 motherboard this is the one to get, especially if you're not going to do extreme overclocking.

As a Gigabyte Aorus fan, this was always going to be my first choice, and I am not disappointed the audio is miles better than before and the sound blaster software that comes with it makes it easy to swap between gaming and music/film presets. The overclocking process has got even easier with this board and it feels a lot safer doing it with the high quality componentsmy 8700k is running at 5.2ghz with with water cooling!Another little thing that is a complete bonus is the killer E2500, i was initially a bit disappointed it didn't come with wifi but this has more than made up for it, I am getting an average of 12 less ping on online games and I can download in the background without affectingonline games. One little gripe is that the rgb fusion has less modes than the rgb fusion that comes with the aorus 1080ti xtreme and it was a little hard to get them to match up.hardware 5/5software 4/5

A great little motherboard at a reasonable price. I bought this motherboard to use with a core i3 8100 quad core processor with Intel UHD 630 integrated graphics. To my knowledge there are only three Z370 motherboards that have a HDMI 2.0a connector and this allows me to connect this motherboard to a 4k TV and get 4k resolution at 60 Hz. It can do this because it has a special chip on the motherboard (LSPCon) that utilizes the Display port connection. The other HDMI connector is version 1.4 which supports 4k at 30 Hz. It also has a Display port for connecting to PC monitors. I like the fact that it has AC Wi-Fi built in and a heat sink for the top m.2 connector. It also has the Realtek ALC1220 on board sound.

Make no mistake, this is one of the top 5 Z370 boards available. If you need a top of the line board, it's amazing value for money.I read a review about clearance for certain air coolers being a problem, but my Noctua NH-U14S fits with room to spare. Plenty of space for RAM, and don't even need to use low profile RAM with this cooler, unlike many other boards. As for overclocking, got my 8700k to 4.9GHz @1.3V stable using the board's automatic settings. Haven't needed to play around with it at all or try anything myself. If you plan on heavily OC'ing/delidding or setting up a whole custom loop, the Aorus Gaming 7 is definitely one of the boards you need to consider.

The Z370 Aorus Gaming is a great motherboard and is cheaper than it's competition such as the Asrock Taichi which costs around £200. It features RGB pretty much all over the board. Some people may not like the over the top look but I quite like it. It also has two RGBW headers, the same as most high end boards. However I did have to bend the W pin back as it got in the way of the Phanteks plug. I have overclocked my 8600k to a stable 5 ghz at 1.35 volts although this is probably due to me winning the silicon lottery and getting a good processor. It has most features you will ever need including a USB 3.1 gen 2 header and I honestly cannot fault it.

Very good board with decent features. Quite a high learning curve compared to ASUS bios if you want to overclock. A lot of online reading to just get my chip running. Good luck!RGB is very nice.Software utilities are on par with Asus, one for fan tuning and another for overclocking CPU plus etc. When I first installed the 8700k CPU, my computer was DEAD slow! Turned out the drivers were very old.Word of advice: If changing CPU/MOBO but returning HDDs with Windows OS, install Driver Booster Free and update drivers. That instantly fixed my sluggish system.Overall extremely please with Gigabyte. Recommend

Great Z370 board, has everything I want except for perhaps M.2 heatsinks. I forgive that though, because this thing comes with two M.2 slots and even has a USB-C socket on the rear. I also like the RGBs, if I'm spending this much on a motherboard, you bet your bottom I'm going to get one that has colourful lights on it.The only thing that may put you off is the YouTube reviews stating high VRM temps when overclocking. Unless you intend to overclock into frame shift speed to intergalactic territory and then run various benchmarking tools, don't worry about it. They're designed to be able to take the heat.

10.1.2018

Brilliant board, has the best quality vrm's available currently which will give you higher and stabler overclocks. RGB isn't for everyone but if you like it then this is the board to get, no other board comes close to it.Has a decent amount of ports, enough for my usual peripherals and my rift at the same time, a nice added feature is the vrm fan which is included if your case does not have ample airflow to keep it cooled passively.Audio is also better than the majority of over boards currently out there, i use a dedicated soundcard but if you use onboard this is another area it excels in.
