Product information and our adaptations...This filled an 'Upper Case' gap in our resource cupboard and gave me the scope to adapt. Using a permanent black pen, I printed a tiny lower case version in the top corner of each upper case tile. Now there is consistent pairing of upper and lower case letters, continually reinforcing their connection. A pattern was added to the back of each tile. This alleviates the potential problem of a non removable selection of random letters appearing on the spaces, detracting from the game. A coat of varnish was added to both sides which gives a beautiful smoothness and aide to cleaning! Also being able to add a personal touch was lovely.A chunky wooden construction built to last with lovely tactile tiles to turn.Apart from the pen everything is permanently attached, perfect for travel. Two elastic loops at the side hold the pen securely.Board approx Height 26 cm x Width 21 cm, Depth 1.5 cm. Good sized board and tiles even for small hands. Tiles approx 2 cm x 2 cm with 0.5 cm depth. The black elastic holding the tiles and pen is a good thickness, strength and tension so this should last many years. Tension is perfect to enable the tiles to be turned over yet not too loose, they don't move about when the board is moved. The white wipe board section attached to the bottom of the board is approx Height 4.5 cm x Width 20 cm. Pen Length approx 11.5 cm black ink and felt eraser on the lid. The lid has NO child safety holes should it be swallowed. I would advise changing for one which does if you have a pen chewer.A simple colour scheme of a white background with red and blue doesn't detract from the letters. The tiles are a mixture of red and blue with upper case letters in white on one side. The white 'Hangman' tiles make up a basic picture of a person on one side, with red and blue clothes. We enjoy playing this game immensely, all ages. This is invaluable for reinforcing word building and getting a younger child to picture the words in their mind. This really makes the player think about what word to choose, equally which letters to pick when it's their turn to guess. Another plus for this game is adaptability, words can be any length. Sometimes we take a word flashcard ( not letting anyone else see ) and mark the lines on the wipe board. This is good letter reinforcement, word building and letter recognition for those harder to learn abstracts also writing practice. We find the games go on for longer with all ages due to being so hands on. The funky design would perhaps lend itself to adult literacy sessions too. Stickers could be used and varnished over for teenage appeal or complete colour change for vision/conceptual support. Using this to help with sign language alphabet practice is an added bonus, easy to see if you remembered how to sign each letter and full word...or not! This really is a rare find; a resource which lends itself to tailor made adaptation and delivers with ease!

This is a big, chunky game and it will be a lot of fun for people who haven't played it very much. Definitely somethnig that you can bring out at a games evening. In terms of game play, it takes a little while to get your mind around it being in three dimensions, but where you can only build—you can't just put something on the top layer like traditional 3d noughts and crosses. This actually makes it easier to visualise, because you only have 16 possible moves at any one go, as opposed to the 64 possible moves at the start of traditional 4-hole 3d noughts and crosses. But it also makes the game-play less exciting. This is a predictable game: once you've worked out the winning strategy, you should be able to win all the time, in exactly the same was as Connect 4. It's more interesting in some ways, because people won't have seen it before and so won't know the winning process (and can't Google it). However, once someone has worked out an advantageous strategy, they will tend to keep winning, and they will keep playing. What Connect 4 has which this doesn't is the satisfaction of having all of the pieces crash down at the end.Definitely worth a try, but not for long-term play.

This is one of those things you see and think oh wow, why didn't anyone think to do this before now! Everyone young and old knows how play noughts and crosses / tic-tac-toe and it's a fun, simple and easy game to engage in with little to no resources on a whim - especially with younger kids. This awesome 3D update to the game adds a whole new level, literally, as you can now go up instead of just across, adding a new dimension. This is a great way of beefing the game out and making each round last longer and also enforces a little more thinking and a step-up on the strategy front, so it's a great way to improve learning when a youngster has long grasped the basics of the original (which you can of course still play with this too, adding to its usability and versatility) and a nice way of revitalizing interest in older players.A really good, fun and simple game to pull out at social occasions as it has a good group appeal and play-ability for larger social groups so everyone can get involved. It's good quality, great value and an easy 5 stars!

I've played hangman a lot with my daughter, so the rules are clear, but the handwriting occasionally leaves a little to be desired (her's and mine!). As is often the case, some clear boundaries are helpful in making the game better for everyone. With this game, there is a nice wide area for the word to go, and a wipe-off marker pen (with handy storage) for writing.Letters and hangman are on elastic, so they need flipping over at the beginning of each game. There seem to be more body parts than I remember, which keeps the game going longer.Snapping the letters over is a noisy affair, so this is probably not a game for an over night flight.Like other reviews say, the letters really should have been lower case, but apart from that, the game is very solidly made and easy to carry. The mark of a good game is when a complete stranger asks you where you got it from. A lady did just that on a plane this summer, only too happy to recommend it.

This game was bought as a Christmas present for my grandson, and so has only just been opened. In spite of a lack of "bling" from other presents he was immediately attracted by it, and couldn't wait to set it up and start playing with it. This he did for some time on his own, other family members were interested in joining in with him, but unfortunately the dice - which is a coloured dice, not a numbered one, was missing from the container making it impossible to play some of the games.I had already read reviews commenting on the flimsy packaging, and I would certainly agree with this, which does let it down somewhat..My grandson was very disappointed to not be able to play as he wanted to ,and I do hope that Melissa and Doug will read this and please send a dice on. I think with that he will be very happy , he will then be able to challenge others, rather than just play with it on his.

This is a fabulous toy - I wish I had thought of the idea ;) I bought it for car journeys - 1st test was 4 hours to Dorset. The game was played the entire journey in various combinations. It's an excellent stimulant for little minds when they look out of the window and try and make up the spelling for what they see. Actually I cannot rate it highly enough - the fact the pieces don't end up all over the car is a brilliant concept. After a few rounds with mummy, they were confident enough to take on each other and argue about spellings! So far it appears quite durable. Turning the letters on one of the middle rows seems a little tighter than the other rows. It's a game that can be picked up at any point and doesn't have to be finished in one go which is good for intermittent map reading....Definitely recommended and good value for money.

My 5 year old son received this from a friend as a birthday present and he absolutely loves it. He's probably played with it more than most of his other pressies in fact. The quality is excellent - strong wooden frame and good quality cards - which makes a change from all the plastic toys around. As each of the seven insert cards are reversible, it increases the value of the game, and prevents kids from just memorising each set after playing a few times. It looks compact enough to travel with, although we haven't done so yet. Only downside could be that the cards can easily fall out and get lost if you're not careful. But overall, a fun and educational game that is made to a very high standard.Would definitely recommend!

This game has been a huge hit with our kids (aged 8, 6, and 4) and was very popular when we had it out with friends. I love that the letters are secured to the board, and the bright, fun design really appeals to the kids. The only drawbacks are related to the marking pen: the marker doesn't come off the wooden letters/hangman pieces, and the elastic to hold the marker in place is very fiddly for small hands (or even my own.) A clip or something similar would work better to keep the marker in place, and the entire game should have been made with the same erasable surface.Minor quirks, though - just keep an eye on the marker and tell your kids not to draw on the upper half of the game.

I was really impressed with this item . It is a 3D version of naughts and crosses, with the advantage of being able to make it harder or easier depending on the children's ages. Younger ones can play a 3x3 version, whilst the older ones can be more challenged with 3 rows. The pieces and board are well made and the instructions are easy to follow. This game is recommended for children aged 8 or over but I think over fives could enjoy the simpler version. It is nice to have this game put by for a rainy day when I think it would keep children entertained for ages. It would also be a good game to have in classrooms for wet playtimes and ‘enrichment’ time. Recommended

This is a real upgrade on one of your old favourites. We are away with a caravan soon, but the weather does not seem to be very much for outdoors, rather opposite - English summer, eh? So... boardgames is a must for a holiday indoors away from technology. It's a really good quality item, the board, the actual pieces are made out of good quality plastic, colours are bright ..the only minor issue is that it is only for two players. They should have introduced more colours and made it fit for 3-4 players at the same time. Could be pArents Vs kids. Otherwise, it will give you a good hour of piece and quiet.

As I bought it I was sure they would love it! The children did. It is very well made, very good quality too. It has to be said after a week or so of playing with it they have not touched it since. It is quite heavy too, so not as ideal as I thought to take on a flight. Too many cards to loose in the car too as the children need to be disciplined enough to place them all back in and only have the one they intend to use on view. The age group it is aimed at cannot always achieve that level of tidyness. I have kept it though as the design is great. Perhaps I shall have it out again at a summer picnic.

Great simple board game witch allows you to have regular hours of fun. Comes with the 4 x 4 board and has plenty of 3d, O and X game pieces. You can either play the game as standard by the first person making a line diagonally or horizontally or you can follow the game instruction and you can take out each-other by using the strategies techniques and blockers which in tern block each-other from winning and makes the game last longer. There is also an option to play it in the standard 3 x 3 form which is good. Very simple game yet very fun and enjoyable at the same time. Have fun Tic Tac Toeing.

Quite surprised at the ability of this game to not only bring back memories of the old noughts and crosses game but also adapt a new take on it which makes it a far more challenging game where it takes more skill than just learning a few key moves to win. Nevertheless, the game is easy to understand so even young kids can enjoy the game which makes this an impressive family game to play either at home or when on a camping trip. The build quality of the materials is also great and the game is built to not only look nice but to also last.Overall an impressive product which everyone should try.

This is a really fun game not just for kids, but adults can get a lot of fun out of it too! I think rather than a noughts-and-crosses deal, the game is more like...3D Connect Four. Connect Four in space? The concept is neat, though the slotting mechanism is a little awkward. As a lover of Connect Four, I had a lot of fun with family playing this! It's pretty lightweight but reasonably sturdy, and the chunky parts make them easy to keep track of.It's probably a bit too difficult for younger children, but 8+ seems about right, as the spatial dimension makes it quite a sophisticated game.

5.7.2019

A new take on noughts and crosses. This is a board game version on noughts and crosses, but rather than just one layer you stack them up to try to get the winning line.It takes around ten minutes to play a game, but the game play can be shortened and adapted to younger children to give you a quicker game that will keep their attention. The pieces are light weight but good quality, making this a great game for caravan holidays etc where you want to keep the weight of stuff you are taking to a minimum. It’s fun to play, easy to master and can include all the family, an ideal game really.
