Wow, this bag exceeded my expectations! I already ordered a second one.We went on a trip with friends and I saw that her kids who ski and travel for skiing had one of these bags. My kids have go away camps, including a skiing camp this summer and our rolling duffels were on their last leg, I didn't want the bags to break down while my kids were traveling alone. So I ordered the newer version of the bag. I ordered both the 65L and 100L and I returned the 100L because the 65L had more capacity that I thought. We fit 2 packing cubes (so he would stay organized while rooming with other boys and not get messed up with whose stuff belongs to whom) with 10 days of workout wear for dry land training and hanging out,a 3-piece ski jacket (outer layer with two inner down layers), a couple of thick sweatshirts, two pairs of shoes, two pairs of ski underwear, a race suit, ski socks, other underwear and socks and miscellaneous to last the trip so he wouldn't have to do laundry, ski pants and other ski accessories. (We also have a ski tube, my husband always pack some extra stuff in there to keep the skis from jostling and the protective safety wear and boots went in the tube.) at the end there was still room to pack more stuff in there and the outer pockets we hadn't even fiddled around with. One side had compartments that we used to separate shoes from other stuff. It splits and can fit under dorm beds (according to my friend) so this can be used at traditional camp bunk beds. The straps tighten and lock and the wheels are replaceable if they break from wear and tear (if my kids are dragging these around -they will end up broken)!I would recommend this for traditional camp any day as they are more versatile than the hard and soft trunks that they sell at go away camp stores.

11/20/17 Initial review:Maiden voyage for this roller duffel was an 8 day / 7 flight business trip to Asia.Really impressed by the available volume. Used in combination with vacuum seal clothing bags you easily have room for a 10 day trip. You do have to be careful about overpacking and getting overweight because there is so much room. The size of the outer pockets is a big plus. I always like to have a bag of clean clothes/toiletries ready to access once you clear customs and before you re-check bags for return flights, and the lower outer pouch on this bag is great for that. The upper outer pouch is great for a light jacket, gloves, umbrella or GPS/cell phone mount.Durability is good - I can tell this bag took some serious abuse and has held up well. The only areas for improvement I can currently identify are...1. The need for some sort of internal reinforcing plate between the telescoping handle and the outer shell. There are 2 runner/bumper bars, but they are widely spaced and may not be enough to prevent damage to the handle bars if that side of the bag sustains an impact. That's how my last bag was killed. I think I'll get a sheet of aluminum or fiberglass to slip in there to provide some additional protection.2. Maybe some sort of strap / harness points to permit temporarily placing the bag on your back if you have to walk up/down stairs as in many train/metro systems.Overall very happy so far...

In our house we own 3 of these. In the past I’ve owned others. By other manufacturers and other than Eastpak (which are equally as good) the rest were rubbish. These have a superior set of rolling wheels, they are well made with decent materials and decent zips.Any thicker material then this would be too heavy. As it is, empty it weigh knocking on the door of 5KG and that eats into your baggage allowance. But for long haul with a decent weight allowance, or for 2 people to share for a shorter break. They are ideal.Good organisation. Collapses to take up less space. To make it better would include some method to lock the zips and tuck the lock out of the way.But all in all we love these bags.Value for money? Not at the full retail price. But as the one I bought recently was about a third off then yes it’s a decent price. It should still be usable in 10 years then it’s durable. Time will tell but I think it will be.

I ordered the dark gray color for my boyfriend as a birthday present. We do a lot of traveling and just moved across the country. This suitcase offered a TON of space and is lightweight. Since most airlines have a 50 lb weight limit, the weight of your suitcase is crucial!!!! But that will not be a problem with this suitcase! The expander on the inside of the bag is pretty good but not always necessary. The one and only downside to this suitcase is that when it's standing up on its own, it will easily tip forward if you have weight in the front, therefore going through check in lines could be a little frustrating.Overall..my boyfriend and I are very pleased with this suitcase and would purchase again!

Dude, this bag is awesome. I'm glad I didn't purchase the one in Vegas from the Billabong store, because they had sold out of this Cordura material (which is what the Squall one is made of), it's more durable which is exactly what I need. For me it was between this and REI's 34'' duffel on wheels. This won for me and not because of the price although this one is more affordable by about $60.The interior of this duffel is a dark camo, you wouldn't be able to know from the pictures provided but if you visit Dakines website you will see. I'm not a huge fan of the camo, but it's no big deal, it's on the inside.Cheers Much!Happy Travels & Sweet adventures.

Oozes quality as soon as you open the box. I have previously paid a lot of money for a travel bag from a well known maker and this Dakine bag beats it hands down.....and for a cheaper price. The wheels on this bag are replaceable so I think that it has been designed with longevity in mind. It is an easy shape to pack too.....unlikely its more weird shaped competitors. The zips are strong and move easily...even from new. Similarly the extending handle moves with a 'quality' feel to it. The bag is so big that you could get almost anything inside. Love it. Will update this review after a couple of year's use. Love it so far!

This is an excellent bag of you are a field engineer. I have to fly out to different places every week and this bag is great at the airports. Having a separate compartment for my work boots is a must for me, and so is durability. If have this bag for close to 2 years now and it still looks new. Minus the patches I sewed on.It rolls smooth and navigates crowds way easier than my tool box, and there is always a handle to grab. Go with the medium size though, it gets you right up to that 50lb weight limit without going over. Can't recommend it enough!

I know this bag is designed for Snowboard/Ski boots but it is perfect for the Road Warrior that has to take steel toe shoes and a Bi-Pap machine with him. My Bi-pap (in it's protective case) and Steel Toe shoes both fit in the Ski-boot pocket. My Ditty Bag fits in the other zippered pocket and my clothes fit neatly on the other side. I REALLY like this bag. I travel almost weekly and have to replace my bag about every 6 months. I'm hoping to get longer out of this one. Even if I don't, I will be replacing this one with an exact copy if I can.

I did a lot of online and in person research before purchasing this bag. It paid off. The Dakine bag is well made and actually is a few ounces below the advertised 11 lbs. When the brace is in place, this bag stands up even when empty. My chief concern in buying a duffle is the restrictions I have on storing luggage under a shipboard bed (11.8 inches maximum height). This bag will easily meet that requirement and still allow me to pack for 3 plus weeks. I will follow up with an additional review once I have traveled to Europe this summer.

So far so good, love the way the separate internal compartments make organising effortless, quality of straps and clasps seems good, easy to hoist up having several external handle options, and some well thought out external pockets. Only very slight concern is if the top side is loaded up with heavy stuff the bag may fall forward from the upright position, had to repack to.avoid the possibility. Other than that I'm very happy, a practical hard wearing piece of kit, much better than a hard shell suitcase.

I travel a lot to ride horses, often to remote areas. This was my first new riding luggage in 15 years. So far I'm very impressed. It holds a lot, I packed 7 days of riding clothes, city outfits, stirrups, food, emergency kits, wine, jackets, gloves chaps, boots, sandals and more. As the trip progressed I could put my dirty, dusty clothes in the separate areas. The wheels handled many stairs, being on a luggage rack on a car, TSA opening and United losing the bag. Still looks good, zippers work.

Bought this bag for a dive and river cruise trip to Indonesia. I traveled for a month and flew in and out of at least 6 airports in far flung places. When I finally arrived home the bag was still in very good shape. It took all my dive gear in the large compartment and all my clothes and shoes in the other 2. Everything I needed fit well in the smaller of the 2 size options. The handle is sturdy and the wheels worked fine as I moved the bag through grungy backwater streets.

I am NOT a snowboarder, which is what I know this is who this luggage was geared towards. I went out on a limb and bought it, and was not at all disappointed. First of all. The size is awesome, especially since it's expandable. I loved the multiple sections on the inside for organizing clothes, shoes, etc. Loved the durability of it. We are actually planning a large family trip, and will be purchasing the larger sized version, and that should be all we need to travel with.

Bought this piece of luggage specifically for a extended trip to Japan we just returned from. The Dakine Split Roller 110l held everything I needed to take and had room for more. After reading other reviews I was cognizant of exceeding airline baggage weight restrictions and made sure the loaded bag stayed under 50 lbs. Its only been one trip but upon close inspection upon returning home I can't even spot any slight damage to the bag. All in all it worked great for me.

Amazing travel bag! Took this bag to Switzerland last year and boy was it a treat! Plenty of space for all the winter hiking gear and then some. Really well organized with lots of different pockets and divided areas. Wheels appear really sturdy and durable and the bag was easy to drag. Love the Tory pattern. Dakine seems to make well designed and durable products. I will be purchasing more products from them in the future, a I love matching travel gear.
