This review has been written after a week of camping in Cornwall. Weather in that week has been as follows; extreme heat, extreme windy conditions, extreme rain and all of the above at once...I know nothing about the water proofing levels. So after reading people's feedback saying it was 2000 whatever instead of 3000 as other tents, I bought a most seller water proofing spray on amazon and sprayed its flysheet after erecting it to test it. It was a 10 mins job. So my review does not reflect the original water proofing of this tent.It stood up well in crazy wind where you'd doubt you make it through the night. I pegged not only the corners of the groundsheet but also the windows/flaps very well with a hammer.Water did not enter from anywhere BUT THROUGH THE THE ZIPS. there are flaps over the zips but because it was windy, the flaps' velcro bits, which should be top to bottom rather than 3 little patches, flapped and water made its way through the zips. Now when I say water I mean a few little drops on the floor. But when you think about 6 set of zips, it is 6 sets of tiny droplets which may splash on things that should avoid water but we were OK really.During the heat, the windows gave a nice airy space when needed. People said it was breezy at night as window nets let cold air in considering there is a gap between them and the flysheet but in a sleeping bag, well wrapped up- we didn't feel anything. Our very little son wasnt bothered either. It is very spacious and easy to set up- even by one person. You may want to watch videos on youtube if unsure but you cant go wrong with colour coding. Fly sheet may be a bit of a hassle trying to put over a very high tent once erected. But there are easy ways (youtube videos) of doing it. After all, I would suggest this tent for heavy campers as wel as first timers- families and small groups. We haven't used the room divider as we liked the feeing of its big open space. It also has two mats which we used as indoor shoe mats by the two entrances.I have read people moaning that water goes down the flysheet and through the doors when it rains. I found two solutions to this:1- keep the damn doors closed. It is still airy enough with everything zipped up anyway.2- give it a punch or two (on the doors) and wait for 5-10 seconds for water droplets to flow down before entering/leaving the tent.My problem was putting it back into its carrier bag after using it!! It happened but took a while... practice made it better. But it was a hassle for me.Hope this review helps if you're in doubt about this product.

Used a few times in rain and hot weather. I love this tent is good quality for the price would recommend. Is HUGE can stand up in it with hinged, structured door flap. So If like me you hate about camping is crawling around and constantly unzipping and rolling up doors this one perfect. Not complaints just some stuff to bear in mind:1.Heavy. Got wheels like luggage but be pain to hawl long distance.2. Assembly is easy all colour coded pole. Can be tricky to reach to get the outer sheet over top if alone. I've managed it but much easier if 2 people.3. Can be bit cold at night.. I think better suited to warmer climate because internal space is massive to warm up and with all round mesh on inner tent the outer cover then has gap to ground so air gets in easy not like sealed bag.Actually for me this is the best thing about it as all side wall curtains open to make cool during day when most tent can feel like sauna.4. Really versatile. When not camping is great to fill with toys as massive garden play tent. Also I found its possible to remove the inner tent and leave just the outer part standing making to make a nice gazebo or marqee. I even did bbq in centre in rain with all side walls open but please note that not recommended or designed for that! Is not a gazebo so quite fiddly to remove inner part.5. No big deal, but standing roof water can drip in a bit when opening closing door because no porch bit. But don't go camping in rain ;) Actually it would be cold if they did some zip on porch extension accessory.6. Packing up not the easiest and never known correct fold and rolling method but always managed since bag seems big enough tolerance to squash in. Although bag is falling to bits now because forced in so much.Cheers

When it came to needing a new tent I always look for quality at a good price. As I tend to camp all year round I needed a tent which could stand up to all the elements and be functional. After reading the many reviews I decided to buy this tent, and I am very glad I did. To start the size allow for two adults to comfortably camp with camp beds, a weeks worth of clothes, food and other camping essentials and still have room inside to sit and relax while listening to the rain outside. Speaking of rain this tent held up to a two day storm where the downpour was so much we could not hear ourselves talk. The small arches over the doors allowed for easy access during this time and kept the inside nice a dry.The main reason I brought this tent is because of the ability to open it up completely and have a nice breeze going through when the sun beats down from above. With temperatures reaching 25C and above the tent remained comfortable to sit in and relax in the shade. My partner is 5ft 11in and can stand comfortably and have room to stretch. The door feature is also a fun novelty and does save on having to mess around with a lose flap when it is windy or raining.Setting up this tent is also a dream compared with past tents. The poles are colour coded and easily fit into place. I have been able to put this tent up and take it down by myself. The packing away can be a little tricky at first but with anything practice makes perfect and again this soon is an easy task.Overall this is a tent which I have recommended to several friends and after many years of camping is a tent that I would happily buy again.

I am completely in love with this tent.I should begin by mentioning that it is still fairly new so I can't comment on wear and tear over time, but I can say a few things:- it is a beautiful thing. It stands out from the crowd. It's colourful and original and with the windows open it feels like a gazebo, and I can't get enough of the door that opens like a real door!- Coleman are a trusted brand for a reason. Within a couple of uses, this tent has been put through it's paces and come out with top marks. It has survived strong winds, torrential rain, hailstones the size of marbles and a muddy river flowing underneath it making walking on the groundsheet feel like walking on a waterbed. No leaks whatsoever. Totally dry inside.- little things matter... like high quality tent pegs that don't bend as soon as they feel stone, and a hook in the centre to hang up a lamp- it is SO easy to put up and take down- it is big. I'm a tall girl and love the fact I can walk around the WHOLE of the inside with a lot of headroom to spare. That being said, you're only going to fit 8 people sleeping in it if you have a separate space for cooking outside of the tent. I like to set it up with the curtain in the middle to separate it into a sleeping space and a cooking/eating space. I set my camp kitchen up like a home-kitchen... a table for washing up, a table for my 2 camp stoves, a shelving unit for storage, and a double fold out seat in the living area, and that leaves room in the sleeping area for... comfortably, no more than 3 people I'd say. We had 2 people and a puppy bed last trip. That was pretty spacious.

Bought this tent for a festival as my old tent had become worn out and I wanted something I could entertain in.The Cortes Octagon 8 certainly hit the spot. On the Friday of arrival at the festival site (in beautiful Blessington, Wicklow, Dublin, Ireland) rain was light, the weather was warm and the sun was even breaking through the clouds. Not having read the setup instructions in advance (or even yet tbh) it took about 20 minutes to pitch on my own. Once the music ended, I and 15 of my closest friends were able to party in the tent (yes, 16 people partying inside) until dawn. The sun was splitting the stones on Saturday but we were comfortable in the tent with the windows(?) open.Closing them in the early evening the tent remained warm and comfortable for the night in spite of rising winds and a steady increase in rain.On the Sunday, we had driving rain and gale force winds until 9pm, The main stage of the festival had been shut down by 5pm (though all other stages remained open). Once I adjusted the (sturdy) pegs the tent remained firmly anchored to the ground and provided shelter for our neighbours who needed rescue from their cheap popup tents. The only damage we sustained was a slight buckling of one of the poles by the door, which was easy to fix later.I recommend this tent for parties and festivals in the summer, or where it's warm. For 4 season use modifications would be needed (addition of doorway coverings to the outer skin and an insulating layer between the inner and outer skins would make this a very effective, lightweight and portable yurt.

I am a mature single camper and this tent is perfect for my needs. I've used it on 5 camping trips and for 4 out of 5 the weather was wet and windy.Pros - Simple to erect as the poles are colour coded and fix together easily. It is spacious with loads of headroom. It is sturdy in windy conditions and it didn't leak in heavy rain. The wheeled case makes it easy to manoeuvre.Cons - Be aware that it is just one big room and the flimsy divider doesn't provide the privacy of other family tents with separate bedrooms. It might sleep 8 but I doubt there will be room for much else! As am the kind of person who likes to be comfortable one issue for me is that, in windy conditions, the wind enters between the flysheet and inner tent near the doors creating a draught through the 6 large mesh panels. This made it cold at night for just one person occupying this large tent. I solved the problem by creating removable plastic covers for each mesh panel. I used strips of Velcro to frame the mesh windows on the outside of the inner tent. I then cut plastic sheeting to fit same frame. The flysheet zips on each panel gives easy access for these to be fitted/removed to suit the weather and wind direction. (tip: self -adhesive Velcro doesn't stick - use plain with waterproof glue like stormsure or sew on). Prior to this fix I temporarily used shower curtains strung along some shock cord which did the trick.Despite the cons - I've given it 4 stars because this spacious tent works well for me and I love the fact that I can stand up in the whole area.

Our first family tent so no experience to compare to but we really liked this tent. Only used in our garden over the summer so far.Poles are all colour coded so you know which connect where which was perfect. Simple to click together. Wheeled storage bag was also a great idea. Plus they've really thought about design as they even have a set of instructions sewn into the carry bag so you don't end up losing them. Really clever.Plenty of space inside. We had 4 blow up beds with our duvets plus our dog and still floor space. Didnt use the room divider.Initially thought the hinged door was a great idea but wet actually found it a bit of a trip hazard as it doesn't go all the way to the ground.Less of an issue, but it also doesn't come with any kind of hook or something to actually keep it open during the day time. I know regular tent doors just unzip and roll back and can be tied open. We got round this though but attaching one of our spare carabiner clips and just clipping it into the guy rope nearest. The second door was also never used so had our beds all over towards that end facing the main door.Plenty of height throughout which was something hubby definitely wanted. The hook in the centre of the top of the tent is really handy to attach a light to and the 2 sets of storage pockets also got plenty of use.We even managed to get it rolled back up into the storage bag, whereas I hear with some of them this is a challenge. All in all we found this to be a good first tent for a very good price.

I gave a lot of thought to purchasing this tent and read the reviews and specs very carefully. Now I've had a chance to use it, I am very pleased I bought it. In spite of its large size, setting the tent up is easy and straightforward, though it is not something I would like to have to do single-handedly in a strong wind. Once erected, the steel frame is rock steady and the internal space it provides is amazing - the comfort and luxury of all-round standing height is such a pleasure and the tent still had plenty of space to move around in even after I set up a double bed, inflatable sofa and two tables. The rigid, hinged door is marvellous - why don't all tents have them? The greatest attraction about this tent though is the all round windows as I simply hate being enclosed in a giant bag. The upper half of the inner lining is mesh which means when the outer skin sections are tied back you have perfect visibility of the outside. Moreover, because it is mesh the air circulates freely through it and, for the first time ever, I was able to sit comfortably cool inside my tent with the sun shining and all the bugs were all shut out. This is not a tent I would like to use in winter as this same air circulation through the mesh of the inner would make it uncomfortably draughty at night, but as someone said, it is big enough to have a pop-up tent inside if you wanted a completely draught-free sleeping compartment. I am looking forward to using my Octagon again for the rest of this summer's camping.

By far this is THE greatest tent I’ve ever owned. I’ve been camping for a good few years now, from biking with a small 2-man to group car camping with stupid multiple pole affairs. But this has topped them all. It’s super easy to pitch and I did it by myself easily. It’s designed in such a way as to let you fit all the poles in the flat position and then raise the entire thing without risking breakages. You just walk around the edge, turning the flexible elbow sockets until it’s upright. It’s got massive amounts of room inside and as I’m over 6’ tall, the standing room was amazing. I was able to throw up a folding camp bed, chair, table, footstool and all my bags - with plenty of room left to spare. The windows are awesome and on a summer day they’ll be fantastic to wake up to.Cons? There are only a small few. It’s a nightmare to get back into the bag it comes with but that’s the same with all tents I guess. Another is that the windows would have been great if they’d been plastic rather than bug netting, then I could have enjoyed the view all year round. That’s just my opinion, it’s a solid design regardless. Lastly, it weighs a huge amount so it’s definitely only good for car campers.Looking forward to more outings! The question is, should I get a fur rug for the middle ha ha ha.

Great summer tent! Looks great, nice and airy as some tents sweat awful, feels big because of the height although I would say no more than a four man tent. We had the the biggest down pour from 2am all the way through to 11am and this tent stood it ground really well ....I was so impressed with it as other tents I looked at were on site and they did not manage as well and were washed out totally. Although we had a puddle under the fitted ground sheet (it was like walking on a water bed!) It did not leak. The only place water came in was through the zip in the door after the water gathered over the top of the door then splashed down when full although I feel this is a design issue and not the tent which is why I havent rated 5 stars. Its a rrally sociable tent and because of the weather everyone piled in our tent!!... Its really easy to put up and all colour coded and all the small fiddly bits are attatched to the tent already, the inner tent goes up first then the fly sheet over the top and can be put up by one person. (If your tall enough!). Comes in a nice bag that you dont have a struggle to pack it back it back up when finished...it is a heavey tent with steet poles so the bag comes with wheel on which is a great idea. I feel many more happy camping trips ahead with this tent.

Easy to assemble. Put up in garden before we took camping. Didn't realise the weather overnight. Tipped over because we didn't use the guyropes but just tipping over bent some of the poles. So not that sturdy. We bent the poles back. Took camping. Used all the guyropes. It withstood a week long storm. Fast winds. Thunder. Lightening. Hail. Torrential rain. No leaks. No moving.great tent.Great in size. bought this for two people as we wanted more glamping style of camping. we didn't want a sleeping tent and a storage tent. This tent is big enough to use the separator down the middle. And have a LARGE double blow up bed on one side. With room around it.And the second side for a lounge and storage.Literally a massive tent.We basically had a studio flat as a tent.My 6 foot partner could stand up straight no problem.Another downside, Is that because most of the underlayer of tent (the main part of the tent) is all netting due to the windows. In the evenings it doesn't keep any heat. So even when you go camping in the summer. You'll still need to wear around 50 layers because there is no warmth at all in that tent at night. You will literally freeze.

My family and I decided to go camping this summer in Bulgaria. Whether there is very unpredictable,so when we got to the place it started raining. We had to sleep somewhere so In the rain and thunder, we took the tent out and built it for about 20-25 minutes all together. It was 3 of us and was very stressful trying to put everything together in that whether, but we had to. Surprisingly it wasn't that difficult. It wasn't wet inside. It was absolutely freezing though. I would recommend getting a matrice to sleep on, because I woke up at some point thinking I was genuinely going to freeze to death haha (we were not expecting that whether so we only had thin summer pajamas on).But we survived and so did the tent. I think although it wasn't the best time for camping it was the perfect whether to test the tent out and it definitely passed the test. It was very easy to keep it clean and tidy. Very open. I'd say it would probably fit around 6 people. No more. It will definitely fit more but you have to be quite close to eachother, so in my opinion 6 is alright. Anyway, Really really happy with it. A bit on the pricy side but its worth the money.

I bought this tent for a camping trip to the lake district, it was our first week long camping trip. This tent I must admit can withstand quite a beating. We went in the month of August which is the wind and rain season. The wind speeds were up to 40 mph, and constant rain during the night and day for a few days. No leaks were noticed in the tent and the tent stayed put on the ground. The tent did however distort in shape when the wind was blowing. This tent needless to say is a summer tent and should not be purchased if you plan on camping at any point outside the summer months. The door opening was not a beautiful as you would imagine opening and closing with the zip, lots of poking to make sure zip did not bite down on the tent fabric. As long as tent is not used in high wind situations you should not have a problem with this tent. We managed to fit one double blow up mattress, and two single mattresses for the kids, with still additional space for baggage, and a walk way reception in and out of tent. We never had a chance to test the opening windows or be without the rain cover on top so I cannot comment on that.

Out of the box it takes 20 minutes tops to erect first time! Colour coded poles and roof hub. Steel poles and no shock cord to snao all steel and wire. This tent also benefits with a hinged door! Thats only one of several party tricks, others include 360 degree views due to micromesh inner tent design and fully zippleble/unzippleble flysheet. But wait theres more, the interior offers just under 4m of floorspace in an octagonal shape allowing for upto 6 adults to get comfy, or if used by couples Then the tent will easily accommodate a big double airbed and all accessories with enuff room to spare for slow dancing! From the get go you can see this tent is designed to last unlike ur regular bargain big box retail tents,an excellant choice for families, couples, festival groups and maybe the odd cult.Having said all this, this tent is definitely a spring/summer tent, and it does weigh 20.78kg,but it does comewith a wheeled carry case thats surprising confortable to wield about all day but its a small compromise to the reassurance that stong wind wont knock your tent over!Read full review...

Delivery was a little complicated but was remedied very promptly by Amazon customer service & UPS. Assembly: takes a while but this was our first time in a good few years & we are older! Therefore, I reckon it was our ineptitude rather than the procedure being complicated. It is full height all around inside - there is no stooping - a huge plus if one is older or has mobility problems. We have a king size air bed which fits perfectly with ample floor space left for camping equipment...etc. There are two handy pockets incorporated into the wall of the tent. The hinged door is pretty cool idea except there is no way of keeping this open (well none that we have come across). There is a second door which can be kept open. The middle partition is superfluous to our needs, but does offer some privacy if required. Our tent has been erected in the garden for the past week and a half. We have had the usual summer weather: very heavy rain & a lot of wind. It remained stable, completely dry with no dampness inside. Very pleased with this Coleman tent it really offers a ‘glamping experience!’
