Background: I'm mostly blind and have started birding. My right eye doesn't really work, so why carry an extra heavy binocular tube? This is the best monocular I've been able to find, and believe me- I did a ton of research before choosing it. The Bushnell monocular is the only one that lists all it's specs and details. I've looked at the top competitors: Vortex, Wingspan, and Gosky have comparable monoculars, but I found them to be sketchy because of the lack of detail provided by both seller and company. They may well be very nice optics, but I like to Know what I'm getting into.Good stuff:I opted for a 10 power optic, not the standard 8 used in birding. One hand focus works quickly enough to aquire the target within seconds. The image quality is what I would expect from something like a Nikon Monarch 400 (I think that's what it's called). It's super clear, and easy to stabilize- not that it shakes that much at that power anyway. It's sturdy enough to be banged around in my pack, and has held up to a drop or two from it. I was ecstatic to find the Cooper's hawk before any in my group.Bad stuff:Well, considering the Bushnell legend hd roof prism binoculars of the same size run around the same price, I think this optic is pretty expensive. This is assuming that this optic is adapted from half of that set.The top lense cap is made of hard plastic, which can damage the coating and make annoying clanking sounds if it pops off.I don't think much of the case, which is bulky and poorly designed where utility is concerned. If shaken vigorously, this optic will rattle a bit. The source of the sound is a loosely fit tube housing around the screw that adjusts focus. It's not a main component, and isn't going to affect the actual Working mechanisms, which are all well fitted and tight.

I also own a small Pentax 9x28 pocket pair of binoculars and the sharpness is very comparable. The low light vision improvement is imperceptible, if there is one. The monocular is OK, but overpriced for what it is. The binocs of course are easier on the eyes and the size difference is minimal. The tiny screw attaching the monocular clip fell out on the first outing. I had it clipped to my belt and was shocked when both, clip and monocular hit the ground in separate pieces. The tiny screw was impossible to find. The clip was an important feature for me because as others have stated, the pouch it comes with is quite ridiculous in size and function, without question repurposed from another product. The soft lid does barely comes over the bottom and is a struggle to close. Now the monocular is sitting on my shelf, until I manage to buy another fitting screw but also wondering if I would trust the clip again. So I am resigned to searching for and purchasing a functional and suitable case for it. Add this onto the price if you contemplate purchasing. I also agree with the poor reviews for the lens caps as they do open and come off while on the belt. I did a lot of research before buying and was uneasy having read other ‘meh’ reviews, but hadn’t found a clear favourite. All in all the view is decent but nothing special, one-handed operation and focusing is possible although stabilization has benefits, size is compact, everything else I would rate as poor and No, I wouldn’t have purchased this in a store for the price, and possibly not at all.

For the longest time I thought Bushnell didn't make all that great products.. about 2 years ago me and my girl were out whale watching and we forgot our binoculars and I found a pair of Bushnell Legend 8 x 32 millimeter binoculars at an Ace Hardware on the island it was a Dusty old box and inside I found a made in Japan pair! Lo and behold some of the best binoculars I ever used.. so when I was looking for something a little bit more portable for work and with more options as far as carry this was the perfect thing for me.. the Optics themselves are top-notch.. I can't imagine seeing anything clearer and I've had limited use with much more expensive Optics.. the housing for the Optics is pretty darn durable looking..And it has a nice feel to it.. the only kind of not-so-great thing is the quality of the eyepiece covers.. The front flip up one every time I have it on my belt somehow either loosens quite a bit or falls completely off especially when getting in and out of a vehicle.. And the one on the eyepiece I don't know just seems cheap almost like a soda bottle twist on lid type of plastic.. also both eyepieces grip onto the optic housing rubber with tiny little teeth so when you pull off the lens caps you see these little Notches on the rubberized housing.. again I understand for two hundred bucks all the money is going towards the glass :-) after having it about 10 days now I'm thoroughly impressed with my bang for the buck!

Not being the sort to afford Swarovski etc, this is one of the best optics I've owned at this price point. The image is pin sharp and bright with no detectable aberration around the periphery. It also works well in low light conditions, transmitting plenty of light from the large objective lens. I don't have big hands but it is still easy to hold and manipulate the focus ring with one hand for long periods. The mil-dot reticle is a useful addition and one I would recommend if you ever need to estimate range or size of objects. Construction is reassuringly robust and the lens caps are still working perfectly after plenty of use both on and offshore. The case works well to keep it protected from both inadvertent drops and the weather .It is also slim enough to fit into a daysack or large jacket pocket without being too obtrusive. I don't have a requirement for the webbing attachment loop so can't comment on its use. No downsides after plenty of use so a good buy at a good price.

First of all, I have been looking constantly for a monocular to suit my needs - I mainly need optics for better route selection in the mountains and also a handheld light and powerful enough to carry around - to observe wildlife from a distance and even take a photo or 2 with my mobile phone through it.The delivery was done much earlier than expected. I won’t say that it’s ultra light, however it is weighted enough to suit the needs of high quality optics at its best. I was contemplating whether I should get the Leica Monovid which costs like 3 times more; thankfully I got this for now!The focus knob is smooth throughout and it comes with a lens cleaning wiper,a sling and a little bag to store it the monocular.I’ll be out for a long hike tomorrow and will be pushing this optics to its limits in the great outdoors. For now, here’s a photo I snapped through my iPhone across my apartment, at about 150m away from where I am!

Five-star Fantastic monocular! The price is high, but you get what you paid. I actually bought a used one with a good condition about $140. I use it for my archery - it works really well for 20 yards (18 m).PROS1. Compact size. I put is cross my should, and it does not interfere my archery practice and tournament. It also come up with a good nylon case.2. Big lens offers clear vision, I can clear see all the arrow holes on the target paper.3. Both lenses come up with caps. The small lens has a wire tired caps, while the bit lens has an attached caps with a open-close lid. The two caps are very handy.4. Water-proof and fog-proof. No problem for outdoor usage.CONS1.Only issue I have is the paracord-like strap - it is too thin. I do feel some pressure while I carry it over my shoulder.

I spent so much time reading about monoculars and binoculars so that I can make the best informed decision before buying one. I am really pleased and happy that I chose this product. It is true what I read - for the money you would spend on an average binocular, you can have an exceptional monocular. And in all honesty if you use it just a few times a year and for short periods of time (in minutes) to watch planes, birds, deer, neighbors, squirrels and distant horizon objects - its perfectly fine to have a monocular. You can see very well with one eye only and save yourself some money. Also it can be hung on your belt or bag strap and is easy to carry around. Love it.

This is a great product and I recommend. However, two issues to consider. See photos.1. The "belt clip" screws loosened up within two days. So, I tightened. But, on the next hike one fell out. I need to find replacements somehow and I will use "thread locker" this time. Poor design from the factory.2. Regarding the "dangling" eyepiece cover, I affixed a stick-on magnet to the cover, so when I remove the cover it can attach to the "belt clip" rather than annoyingly swinging around. The screw fell out before I made the magnet modification; so, once I fix the screw loose issue, the magnet solution will work as intended.

Very nice monocular!I had asked if it came with a case that would fit on my belt and received both "yes" and "no" answers. Well, it comes with a very nice pouch with belt loops as well as a fairly sturdy scope-mounted belt clip. Views are sharp and very bright. Focusing is easy with one hand. I took off one star just because I'm left-handed and would have liked it if the belt clip could be moved to the other side just for comfort. But that's just a personal opinion. On it's own merit it would be 5 stars.Recommended if you want a great 10x monocular.

I had to ditch my traditional binoculars for a monocular due to its cumbersome weight. I found this monocular suitable for my everyday needs. I'm able to get superb viewing of at least a mile. It's a fixed zoom, so the only thing you can adjust is the focus instead. Crystal clear images and can be easily operated with one hand. It's durable with a rubberized outer coating. The only problem I had with this are the lens cover. The hinge where the cap meets the base was inserted incorrectly and crooked, but it's only a cosmetic defect.

The Bushnell Legend Ultra HD Monocular, Black, 10 x 42-mm is a fine instrument, solid, clear, sealed, waterproof, large scope, with belt clip , built-in Picatinny rail, 1/4 20 mount for tripod. It has a nice case that some have said is to big, but I disagree, it has easy to get the scope in and out, and made of have padded material. I do a lot of hiking, biking and kayaking, this fits the bill. The unit has clear vision, no Mil-Hash as the tan military version has (I'm not a sniper, so this would be very distracting).

Wow. What an image. ED glass is worth it. I first ordered a 42mm variable zoom monocular but returned that because the image quality reminded me of my childhood telescope. Ordered this one despite being weary of the price. Now that I have it, I'm very please. Image quality is awesome. The carrying case is ok, seems like it'll get the job done. The front lens cap is great, the rear one seems cheap but sturdy. The monocular itself feels great. Very easy to focus with one hand. This seems worth the price.

I strive to reduce pack weight for hunting and decided that my binoculars were too heavy. By going with the Monocular I effectively end up with half the weight of the comparable binocular without compromising functioning. Clarity and brightness are outstanding! I totally appreciate the compactness, light weight and solid construction of this monocular. It also works great paired with my Carson Optical binocular adapter for taking "telephoto" pictures with my iPhone.

Bought a Vortex, then a Polaris. Returned them for this Bushnell monocular. Easiest to hold and adjust. Clearest image of the 3 considered. It's end caps are attached. Small thing but as a person who loses the caps often, having them attached means something to me. Usual great Amazon service. Packaged safely, came quickly. Some people love binoculars. I find them hard to focus properly. A monocular is faster and easier to focus and use. Smaller to carry, too.

I was looking for a lightweight and compact optic to use for woodchuck hunting and this optic fit the bill perfectly!! The glass is very clear, colors are not shifted or washed out, and the FoV is HUGE. It is easily adjusted via the focus knob on top and works well either in a single hand or mounted up to tripod. It works well for spotting whistle pigs along with trace at the range as well as other activities. Pleasantly surprised for an under $200 optic!
