The Bushnell Equinox Z Digital Night Vision Monocular (4.5x, 40mm) very good night vision monocular. It has the following modes and settings:- IR lamp can be set to IR2 (infra-red lamp on high), IR1 (IR lamp on low), IR0 (IR lamp off), " " (daylight full color mode). All but the full color mode generate a black and white image. I found that in many cases even at dusk that the IR lamp was unnecessary, so I was in IR0 mode most of the time. However, the full color mode required a lot of light to keep from being very noisy, so this mode didn't get much use.- Sensitivity can be set to low (half moon icon), medium (full moon icon), high (sun icon). As the sensitivity is increased you do get a brighter image, but the shutter speed decreases and the image can become very jumpy if handheld. As a result I ended up using low sensitivity most of the time. Note that sensitivity setting is disabled in full color mode.- Digital zoom can be set from 1.0x (default) to 3.0x. This is multiplied by the set 4.5x zoom of the optics. Since the digital zoom creates obvious artifacts, I would rather not use it at all or keep the setting close to 1.0x.Overall I was quite pleased with the unit. For it's intended use (low light to total darkness) it gives a sharp detailed image, often without having to utilize the built-in infrared light. My only real complaint is that the manual focusing can be slow and cumbersome (it takes a lot of turns of the focus wheel to get from near focus to infinity focus).I haven't owned similar products to compare this to, but for me the Bushnell does an admirable job.

i had been wanting to get some kind of night vision and had looked at all that was on the market when i found this one i was sceptical about buying not being sure until i purchased it, i figured i would give it a try and so far i like it real well, i like that you can use it during the day and it takes pictures and video how great is that? Very good addition, It takes a little bit to get used to but i like it.It is a little bulky but for my use it works well for seeing what is out in the fields before crossing them when going hunting, so many times before i got this i would start across an area before light and could hear the deer take off from the field edge, now i can scan the field and take a different route if the deer are out and i keep from scaring them off before i get to hunt them. I also use it around the house after dark if the dog goes to barking without turning on the light and i can see what is outside without scaring off by turning on the lights. It is a great product!

I bought this product for just the use of looking around our 30 acre property and spot lighting up in Michigan. I haven't been to Michigan yet but from looking around my property this is great. This product is so great because it is digitally enhanced, can see 250 yards but i think it sees farther like 350 i would say, the day feature is great to but make sure you leave the cap on for the day feature because the lens is very sensitive to light it can see through the little tiny hole in the cap but anyways at night you take the cap off and look around. the only reason i give this a 4 star is it is a first generation now hear me out i was not looking for a 2nd generation but i didn't have the money for the 2nd generation,so i bought this 1st generation and it is absolutely hands down the best first generation model according to my research and my first hand account with this productVERY PLEASED

You have to know what you are getting before you are disappointed. The device is 4.5x base zoom with a 3x digital zoom. That is too much base zoom to expect to be able to walk around with it in front of your face. However on a steady tripod or from a sitting position it works amazingly well. You cant beat the cost to capability ratio on this item. In my limited experience i would list it as close to Gen2-2+. The IGen 20/20 is a Gen 3-3+ equal type digital monocular but it is a lot more money. A bunch of the guys at the range have different toys like this. I would not switch to any of them for the price. Now some have night vision rifle scopes (ATN) and those are pretty cool but cost becomes an issue.I am incredibly happy with this purchase and it will tide me over until I can afford a FLIR scope.

This night vision device is exactly what I needed, works as advertised and the price was right. As already stated in other reviews, this is a NV device, which basically means it uses CCTV camera technology. So don't expect high def, long distance viewing and rapid refresh rates while quickly moving your field of view. If you want "see" what's out there (obviously within range of the illuminator), this works pretty good. The housing is well made and durable. The control buttons took a bit of repetition to build a little muscle memory; and I still occasionally press the power off button, when I meant to do anything other than that. For the price,it would be nice if the device was outfitted with rechargeable batteries; and the mini USB port supported charging. Other than that great product.

The item was packaged well, received in a timely manner and appeared/functioned exactly as described. I'm a deputy sheriff in a rural area, and I am *very* impressed with its performance in'pitch dark. I strongly encourage anyone who hunts or works in security/law enforcement to have one of these. My ONLY criticisms (perhaps unfair criticisms) are:(1) the scope isn't detachable from the lens, so if you're wanting to see something up close, this won't work; and(2) when you use the camera feature, the picture is of noticeably lower quality;(3) whatever you're looking at will see a red light emanating from the device, thus revealing your location.

I use this Bushnell all the time. It takes pictures and video and is a tough piece of equipment but it isn't light to hold and the padded carrying bag is a tight fit for this monocular. Note: it's a fairly hi tech piece of equipment so it takes some getting use to because it has several settings to choose from and it takes practice getting your sighting but once you do, you can count the feathers on a bird from a very far distance!!! I bird watch and have difficulty with binoculars so the monocular suits me the best. Wouldn't use it at a concert as it's not suitable for wide vision but it's great for zooming in on a tiny bird far away.

After my initial review I was contacted by Bushnell customer support regarding a problem with the video out function. The unit would shut off after 10 minutes while the video out was in use. Bushnell provided me with the software and instructions to update the firmware. The video out function is now working as it should. The Bushnell Z is now living up to it's full potential. A great night vision scope that operates day or night in full color or IR with the capability for internal video recording or capture......Awsome.I base this review on my many years in the surveillance field as a police detective and private investigator.

Excellent product for the money. Device is not true night vision for it uses technology used in night vision security cameras, but that is reason for low cost and affordability. Rugged construction for using outdoors in wet conditions and is completely rubberized to help prevent damage to unit if dropped. Best to use lithium batteries for longer life, but with it using AA batteries it is economical to use versus C123 batteries. Good product to use for homeowner to check area around house or in buildings without lights, security services or law enforcement. I like the ability to take a single photo or video.

Yes, you can take video with sound and pictures if you add a micro SD card. And that may come in handy some day, I guess. But I bought this as a low budget way to see in the dark for safe movement in an emergency. Surveillance is a backup function. At this price point, you won't find a better option. This is a great value. It has a Pic rail and a camera tripod mount (neg/fem). Nice features that add versatility. Comes with a respectable carry/storage case, but you may want a rugged plastic case with foam insert or make a Faraday cage out of an old ammo can lined with closed cell foam. Just a suggestion.

Purchased another brand from Amazon and it was a major disappointment. The reviews were about equal number of stars but there is no comparison in the two items. I bought it for night hunting coyotes as a scanner. It works great. There were several videos and reviews on you tube and they were a great help in making a decision. For the price and features it is hard to beat. You can easily see and identify animals at 300 yards and beyond. I like the 2 levels of IR brightness it really seems to help.

28.6.2020

This is for watching animals at night or checking out areas nearby that are rather dark.Mounting on a rifle or helmet for night ops?You will be very unhappy with the results and probably fall and hurt yourself. There is no such thing as good, but cheap night vision.Pros: Surprisingly clear pictureExcellent zoomEasy to useRange- I can see 200-300 yardsCons: Needs IR illuminator most of the timeCannot use illuminator thru glassEats batteries

I really like this monocular. It is well made, tough, and reliable. It lives up to the Bushnell name for quality and utility. I will mention two detractors: while it provides excellent day/night images at 100 meters, the image clarity is diminished at 200 meters and beyond; and it does use significant battery power. For that reason I use to to scan and then power it down. If you will use this product all night, take extra batteries.

I got this to watch the night sky it works very well just a little to much magnification otherwise it would have been five stares, it works the best out of all the digital NV's I tried, and picks up way more stars than with the naked eye, very well made, I haven't been able to get a live link to my video player yet, it might be me, uploads data fine on my computer but not live I get a usb symbol on the nv screen.

I am about the most picky judgmental person there is when it comes to products and after reading some of the terrible reviews I seriously had my doubts so believe me when I say that I am quite pleased with this product. the only downfalls thus far is the short battery life, awkwardness in your hand, and the minimum 4 power zoom but day & night the image is clear , crisp and far. I would highly recommend
