I've been wearing this for just short of ten days now so thought I'd post the first part of the review. I'll update it in ten weeks by which time I'll have had it for nearly three months so will have a better view of it's performance. So, a bit of background first. I wear a FitBit Ultra that I've had for years now (Fore-runner of the FitBit One) and I've found that to be pretty accurate over the the time I've worn it; calibrated against a Garmin 410 and counting steps. I did trial a FitBit Flex, which was also worn as a wristband and found that to be less than accurate when I wore it on my wrist (over recorded by up to a third at times)when compared to the Ultra I was wearing on my belt - even when I wore the Flex in the belt loop next to the Ultra it was still out (over recorded by 7%). I was interested therefore if the technology (and the algorithms used) had improved and whether this would be more accurate in it's recording of steps and activity as a result where it was supposed to be worn: i.e. the wrist. I no longer use the Flex because of the degree of over recording when worn on the wrist. The wristband will take quite a large wrist; I'm 6'4" and not slightly built and I still had two holes to go on the band.Over the ten days I've worn the AS80 it has both over and under recorded steps by as much as 10% either way, there doesn't seem to be a rationale as to why at the moment and I am trying very hard to work that one out; is it to do with arm swing, vibration, (?), I don't know yet, but I will work it out. The calorie consumption I presume works on a algorithm that converts effort into calories, again compared to the Ultra there is variation. To use you need to charge it fully before use (cable supplied) and then synch it to the Beurer website via an app (HealthManager) downloaded from any of the providers: i.e. GooglePlay, Apple. This is fairly simple on an iPhone5S and once you've created your account you're good to go with downloading, which is simple - a button press and all the info is bluetoothed. Through the website you can keep track of sleep, activity, calories, steps, review performance over time and set targets. The website also includes BP, pulse and weight monitoring if you fancy buying any of the other Beurer equipment. An improvement on my Ultra and Flex is that it has a much larger memory capacity and will store for up to thirty days (The Ultra and Flex was seven). It also serves as a basic watch. Sleep mode is activated by pressing the button at the side and ended in the same way, you can set an alarm, which I did, and it's supposed to vibrate you awake - it didn't. The band is splash-proof but not waterproof so I'm presuming you can't swim with it on or get it drenched with rain. I'm also interested how this will survive the buckets of sweat I generate when walking; we'll see at the three month update. One problem that the Flex and the Ultra had/have is cycling - whether static or actually road/off roading, they don't pick up the activity properly and this has to be manually added to website you use for tracking; in my case with the Ultra it's MyFitnessPal. I'd be interested if this has a similar problem.I'd be interested to see the comparison after three months between the AS80 and my ancient Ultra and will update mid November with the results.

I used this for a couple of days.It was easy to set up.It monitored my movements for the two days and indicated my activity levels.I am not sure about the other functions at the moment. It indicates on the blurb that this little device could be the panacea for all levels of activity, including sleep paterns.I will return to this review in due course when I have used more of the functionality.I am open to be convinced.
