You play as a villain in Gotham City, trying your hardest to gain control of the city whilst suffering at the hands of Batman and any other villains who are playing. The villains themselves are the Heroclix models, which look fantastic, although Killer Croc has a hard time staying on his base. Your goal is to reach level 10, and you level up by controlling areas, paying money or information (the two types of currency in the game) or having a large stable of henchmen. You can control a territory on the map by having "threat", yet another recourse, in the territory or by placing your villain figure. To gain information, money and henchmen you play criminal plot cards, many of which involve you controlling set territories on the map to gain extra resources. This leads to interesting power shifts between different areas of the map, depending on which cards you draw. However, towards the end of the game, when you will want either a lot of money or a lot of information, you'll find your cards becoming less useful as they won't give you what you want. This is where the strategy element falls down, as you can trade cards for 2 of one recourse instead of playing one on that turn and the end of the game tends to descend in to everybody doing this. All said though, it's a solid game, and it's more than tempting to try and talk like Christian Bale's Batman everytime a Batman card is played. Hopefully there will be an expansion will to give the game more badies to play as, maybe a new good guy too, but mostly so there are cards you can save to the end to keep the strategy element going.

We had a blast playing this game... The only negative thing is Crock... There are much better villains than crock (freeze, riddle, bane, the bat dude) I am guessing they are saving them for an expansion :)

This is a brilliant game for four people that doesn't take all night. It's quick to learn and fun to play.
