It should be noted that these are designed to be left attached to the bike, they're not meant to be taken with you every time you leave the bike. So while the straps are a little fiddly to get right when you first attach it, it's not a big issue as you'll only need to do it once. The small velcro straps that secure the bottoms of the panniers aren't great, but they're removable and the fixing on the bag is designed for any other kind of strap you might want to fit, Cables ties are a good bet. They're very well made, with nice strong material and while i've not tested them in the rain yet, i can't see any reason why they'd leak. The Twin top straps are good, because it means you can still use the top of your carrier for either child seats, helmet boxes or just bungee straps. These are big panniers though, they're designed for cargo bikes really, so they should fit most Dutch bikes (Basil are a Dutch company), if you fit them on most small mountain bike carriers like they sell in Halfords though, you'll likely catch your heals on them. I found loads more information about these Panniers (and the rest of the Basil range) on [...], it's in English, Dutch or German.

I got these panniers for winter touring so far I have done 600km with them, they are strong and well ballanced, I have ripped them when I fell off my bike on ice, but the rip did'nt get any worse in the 15hrs it took me to get home. The materiel is water resistant but the design of the tops allows some water in, but you would be a complete fool to expect a set of panniers that cost £[] to be water proof, I just pack every thing in plastic bags and that solves the problem.I had to buy a touring rack, because the panniers are so wide. My old rack sat too far forward and my heel draged on the front of the pannier, this could have been because my bike is a hard tail MTB,or just the wrong rack.these are designed for shopping, and are great for that, I am looking forward to being able to just go to the shops and get my weekly shop. they take about a minute to remove unloaded, and thats knowing where all the buckles are, so that should detere the theives.

These panniers where ordered for my Mother in law, as she relies solely on a bike for transport, once fitted to a hybrid ladies cycle, using the rear bracket available also from Amazonhttp://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B004WMSY1YJust to say that these panniers had a lot of use and various and numerous trips to supermarket and DIY stores, in all sorts of weather, probably more stuff than you would ordinarily put in, until fairly recently, when the bike was stolen, but the panniers had been discarded and thrown onto railway track, not on actual rails, but had been recovered by the police, after a week exposed to elements, they have been washed and cleaned up and are now on a replacement bike,so would highly recommend this product and so Mother in law is happy, just had to get another pannier rack she already got from Halfords bike hut and this was just as good.

The bags are quite roomy -- each comfortably carries a largish grocery bag. I have it installed on a Dutch-style bike with a sturdy rear rack and haven't had any problems with banging my legs into it, though I did install it so that it hangs a few inches beyond the rear end of the rack to avoid that potential issue. It is quite water-resistant, though it doesn't actually seal so some moisture will definitely get in at times.Installation was a minor pain (15 minutes or so) due to fiddly velcro straps. The bags are soft-sided, and the bottom of each bag is lined with a piece of rectangular plastic to give it shape. I usually pop those up when not in use so the bag can crush a bit for parking.I've been using for a couple of weeks, and haven't turned up any issues yet. If it shows issues with wear, I'll try to update the review.

yes there cheap, havnt let in any water in yet too. good size inside toobut the rear corners can catch the spokes which is annoying. iv added some support to stop that by threading a thin piece of wood throught he panniers to stop the corners swaying into the spokesalso the attachments are fustrating. with a full load of shopping on by hybird i need to tighten the furthest away first, then the closest to ensure my heels dont clip the bags. they are also then very difficult to undo as the strap goes throught eh metal loop and back around itself, there is little space to undo these when youv tightened all four (which is needed as they have no catches to slot onto your panniers)yes to the once in a while user,no to a tourer or daily user

I really really like these bags. I use my bike every day for commuting the 2 miles to and from the train station, as well as general getting around at weekends and on holiday. I don't want to have to think about how much a can carry; I just want to have enough space that I can just put shopping or whatever on my bike and off I go. I also don't want to spend a fortune. These bags are ideal. I have been using them for several weeks now (my previous panniers wore out) and their quality is pretty good. They are tough, simple and spacious. The clips hold them closed and are big and chunky so they're easy to work. Much, much, better than the zips on my old ones. Also, they are huge. Exactly what I need.I am a very happy customer :0-)

The quality was obvious as soon as the packet opened, well made and good quality fabric. Fitting was a tad fiddly but once on very secure, extra cable ties were used for better securrity as previous of velcro has not bee. so good. The simple design makes them spacious and easy to access. The internal securing strap is quick release and a great help with heavier loads as it takes the strain off the buckles. Relective tapes show up well. The exteral flaps at each end ensure rain if deflected away from the contents and the addition of a drainage hole in the base is a great idea as my last panniers wouls fill with water.Woulkd definately reccomend of you dont want to panniers which can be detached and used as a bag.

Ideal pannier bags for those that want to shop by bike; easily fits a full carrier bag in each side; I bought one a couple of years ago; under heavy use it needed a couple of repairs; ''easily done on a normal household sewing machine'' I bought another for my other bike; and I just bought a spare in-case they stop making them in the future; in my opinion this pannier is the best one on sale today; and for what you get ''its very cheap'' Buy a couple and you will save money for years to come.Best value for money in the UK; if not the World; if you want a large pannier that is easy to use and fill; buy this one with confidence.

I have to admit my first set of these panniers split on one side after about a year. In retrospect I was probably overloading them. The replacements are identical, and have lasted well. Good for shopping, carrying clothes/waterproofs, any bits and bobs really. They are waterproof too, but take care to make sure the top flaps cover the pouch properly when it rains. One of the few panniers that will fit under a rear child seat, due to the small size, and also because the soft fabric folds under the leg protectors. For this last alone they are invaluable to any cyclist transporting young children, and excellent value for money.

reflective strips on the side and narrower straps that attach the two bags together would have made this 5 stars. in fact ths product could be improved by making the staps that go on top of the rear carrier adjustable so that one could wear it over the head when walking with the panniers. I would say that with a little thought this could double as a front and rear backpack, what a pity that designers dont g the extra mile. one issue is that athough black matches my bike, it is low vis and so more reflective strips would help

These panniers are great for shopping and can carry relatively bulky items. I can fit a full bag of shopping in either side. They are waterproof, though you have to take care the flaps cover the side openings if it rains. I leave the panniers on the bike (which is what these panniers are designed for), and just pack stuff into cloth bags before placing in the panniers. These are then convenient to carry off the bike. Handy slots suitable for looping luggage elastic through to help carry stuff on top of the rear rack.

I wanted a nice classic looking bag for my black dutch style bike these fitted the bill. They are not the largest of bags but hold enough for a small grocery shop. I didnt get the larger ones as someone had put that they caught on your heel as you pedalled. I found these brushed my heel slightly when new but now they don't . Waterproofing seems fine but you do need to make sure the ends are tucked in or a small amount of heavy rain might get in. The price is fantastic for the product and I would recommend them.

I found the bags very large which is great for getting your shopping in etc. and they look good on the bike, my only problem with them was the straps that go on the rack were sew high so the bags were hanging low and when loaded would go into the spokes of the wheel, you can get round this by raising the bags up by 3" by putting something under the straps, I made a little cage which weighed hardly anything, I'm sure a lot of people can't be bothered to do this, but I wanted the bigger bags, so for me its fine

My 14 year old daughter recently got a paper round and found the over the shoulder bag useless for carrying the ridiculous multipart newspaper of today, especially at the weekends. We needed a simple large capacity pannier and this bag was exactly the thing. It can take about 20 Saturday Telegraphs (no mean feat) and slots neatly onto the rear rack of her bike. It's also a sensible price, being about a third of the cost of the fancy cycle touring panniers that are the only other alternative in bike shops.

Been using for over 2 month's now and not let in water yet, which is quite impressive as they remain outside on the bike about 11-12 hours daily. Great value. They do need careful positioning on carrier due to their width. Had trouble attaching bags to side of the rack with enclosed ties however as i never remove panniers used cable ties instead and 2 months on still holding tight. Would buy again.
