I initially purchased the 16GB HyperX Fury Red 1866MHz kit on offer for under £40 at a recent Amazon sale, about a month ago. My motherboard, an Asus A88XI-AC running an AMD APU was supposed to be compatible, however this RAM wreaked havoc when I replaced the existing 2 x 2GB Gskill RAM sticks. With both sticks on, the system wouldn't boot. Removed one stick and it did boot, but with continuous errors to the Windows 10 splash screen and running programmes threw all kinds of errors as well. Replaced this stick with the other (8GB only) and the system wouldn't boot again. Hence one stick was completely dead and the other partially defective.Requested a refund on Amazon and that was no hassle at all; it was picked up from home within a few days.I'm a Prime member and believe the monthly payment more than makes up for the level of customer service you get with them. Perhaps I was unlucky with this 16GB kit as many buyers have had a good experience, but I didn't want to risk being disappointed again so did not go for the same the next time around.Replaced the HyperX Fury sticks with this Crucial Ballistix 16GB 1600MHz kit priced down to £37 on Prime Day, 12th July. First of all I received two RAM sticks in a triple stick pack (one slot empty), however the kit was sealed unlike another user's experience on here. The RAM was definitely brand new. After installation, I really couldn't believe the difference compared to the HyperX Fury sticks. Detected as 16GB by the motherboard straight away, and booted to Windows without any issues. Have run multiple programmes and the system has been rock solid for days. I don't anticipate any problems with this Crucial kit. I'm not sure if HyperX uses UTT memory (untested) modules and controller ICs, but Crucial going by the many online reviews definitely use ETT (effectively tested) memory. Perhaps better quality control is the difference? This kit has no fancy oversized heat sink or 'go faster' labels but it's rock solid. Kudos to Crucial!A pity as I would had a really useful speed boost with the 1866MHz RAM given that AMD APUs use system RAM for graphics.

After some poor experiences with brands that take largely untested RAM chips (UTT memory) from various suppliers, test them, rate them and then build modules with them, I have decided that the only brands of memory modules worth using are those who either use fully tested memory chips from their suppliers (ETT memory) or who are a closely connected to the silicon manufacturing process (as with Crucial). A key point of difference is that Crucial (and Kingston, for example) run their modules at 1.5 volts (the design voltage for the chips). Those brands that specify 1.6 or 1.65 volts for DDR3 modules are pushing the spec for the chips in order to either make them work reliably or to try to squeeze a bit more performance from them.Either way, such modules are more likely to have reliability or compatibility issues, sometimes not revealing themselves until a long time after they were installed. If curious, read a device datasheet from a memory chip manufacturer, for the correct operating parameters. In summary - I am very pleased with these modules from Crucial. They are being used in my file server at home, and after a 48 hour test period using MEMTEST86, they are now running unRAID with a number of plugins and add-ons.

I used the Crucial memory utility which I downloaded from the Crucial website UK to get the exact memory to go with the 8GB module that I already had. The memory came well protected. Having removed the side panel of my desktop I made sure that I had earthed myself on a radiator before removing the memory from the plastic box it was in. I re-earthed myself to be sure that I had removed all static and simply pushed it into the next available memory slot DIMM 2. I then replaced the side panel and booted up. This stage only took a couple of minutes. Even though the bios said 16GB installed, when Windows 10 started and I looked at the system settings it was still saying only 7.5GB.To solve this go to Search window in bottom left hand corner and type in msconfig.exe and press Enter. When System Configuration Menu pops up click the Boot Tab and then click Advanced options button. If there is a tick in Maximum memory box then UNTICK it. Click OK then click APPLY. Close the window then go to Start button in bottom left corner and choose Power from the menu and click restart. When Windows 10 reboots all the memory will be available. Hopes this helps anybody else having issues with new memory added.

I purchased a set of 2x8GB modules to replace the memory in my Mac Pro (4,1). I decided after many, many years it was time to upgrade my old 12GB (3x4GB modules) with some higher capacity ones. The upshot of purchasing these modules was; not only do I have an extra 4GB of memory, but I also have space for two more modules in the future!Just like installing any other brand of memory, installation was quick and painless. Just a heads of for those looking to install this in the Mac Pro 4,1 and 5,1 machines (2009 - 2012). If you have your original memory, you MUST remove it before installing these modules. The memory originally supplied with the Mac was ECC UDIMM modules, these are not compatible with this memory and cannot be mixed. It's also worth remembering that this memory will only run at 1066MHz or 1333MHz depending on the model of your machine and the processor installed.Once installed, I ran a few benchmarks and saw a very modest improvement on many of them. While these improvements will likely be impossible to spot during normal use, I'm happy that I now have the option of purchasing another two modules if I wish to upgrade in the future.

Sensible RAM at a sensible price. One of the things that I like about Crucial is that almost all of their memory is intended to run at the voltages that the chip makers designed the chips to run at. For DDR3 that means 1.5 volts. Modules from may other brands are built using largely untested chips from the chip makers (look up UTT memory if interested) that the module makers have then tested and found to give better performance at voltages near the limits of what the chips will withstand (1.6 or 1.65 volts). This is not good for the chips and often leads to inconsistent results. Crucial get this right because they grew out of the chip maker Micron Technology and they in turn were spun off manyyears ago from the memory chip manufacturing arm of Texas Instruments (who know a thing or two about making chips work reliably). So these modules come with a good pedigree. I have the 32GB set of four mounted on an Asrock 990FX Extreme4 motherboard and partenered with an AMD FX8350 8-core CPU. Very solid. Very reliable. And S3 sleep mode just works. That and solid Memtest86 performance are always a good indicator for RAM.

My HP Pavilion PC came with 8GB (2x 4GB) with Windows 8 (now upgraded to Windows 10), but I started noticing I needed more RAM for a smoother operation, so I have upgraded it.If the memory module (RAM) that you need is: DDR3, DIMMs, 1600MHz, PC3, 12800, 204-PIN etc, and the maximum memory is 16GB, 32GB or even 64GB, then this one should be fine. There might be 2x memory sockets or 4x or even 8x inside your PC, as long as one socket can hold up to 8GB, then this one should be fine, but if it's for 4GB, don't use this one as it's 8GB.FYI, if your PC is a 64-bit system, normally one memory socket can hold up to 8GB, so if you have 4x sockets then you can upgrade it to up to 32GB (4x 8GB).If your PC is a 32-bit system, then probably a socket can hold up to 4GB so this RAM won't work. So check the specifications of your PC first and check the memory type that you can put in your PC.Memory modules with high capacity aren't cheap, but they're getting much cheaper than before, and this is a famous brand Crucial, so that's good for my reassurance too.

This was, after careful consideration, the RAM I chose for my budget PC build, and I am definitely not disappointed. If you are considering purchasing this, I can assure you, you will not find much better for the asking price. One thing I didn't see mentioned anywhere in the item description was the speed of the RAM, it's 1600Mhz for those interested. If interested, my full build is as follows -AMD FX6300 Black Edition 6 Core Processor (6 x 3.5Ghz)Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 Socket AM3+ MotherboardCorsair Builder Series CX 430 Watt PSUXigmatek Asgard CaseCrucial BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00CEU Sport 8GB RAM KitAsus AMD Radeon HD 7750 1GB GDDR5 Graphics CardAll told, I spent around £330 as I recycled an HDD and DVD drive from my previous build, and I already own a retail copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. This thing has had no stutters or faults in any game I've thrown at it so far, and I also use it as a DAW Audio Station for recording audio, and I haven't experienced any issues with that either. A highly recommended piece of kit!

Many computer experts will say that you do not need more than 16GB RAM as any additional memory will only yield a marginal improvement in performance if any. However, I think this is changing as the memory needs of some software is increasing. I bought this to supplement the 16GB RAM that my ChillBlast I7 computer came with. It's important to make sure you don't limit the computer's ability to utilise all of the memory by installing 32 bit versions of software. For example, Microsoft Excel can be the 32 bit or the 64 bit version. The amount of RAM the computer will be able to use is restricted when the 32 bit version is installed. I also run the latest version of Photoshop. It recommends allocating over 10GB RAM to run smoothly. So the argument that additional RAM is a waste of money is maybe not as relevant as it was. I run 3 monitors on my computer and since installing the additional RAM everything seems to run smoother. It's always better to pay a little more and get better quality memory such as Ballistic Sport.

I bought a computer that came with windows 7 and had the ability to be upgraded to windows 8. For those that don't know windows 7 only supports up to 16gbs of ram while windows 8 supports up to 32gbs. Since my motherboard also supports up to 32gbs I bought these planning on the fact that I would upgrade my windows to version 8.1 and therefore be set for a few years of trouble free operation. The biggest problem I am facing is that even though windows 8 has been out a year and the newest version has been out a few months my system is a bit buggy. I am working on getting things running smoothly but if I can't and have to revert back to windows 7 then I will have to return these as the system won't recognize them.None of my issues are caused or related to the ram though and these seem to be running fine (I have no way to check for sure) so I really hope to get things running smoothly. These ram sticks were very easy to install, recognized by computer upon restart, and seem to work well.

Went to Crucial's website and used their compatability checker to find the best ram for my board. This ram is promised to be 100% compatable with the p8z68 Asus board I bought it to run with. It is also 100% compatable with the z77 Sabertooth I replaced that board with.I had to return a kit of Corsair vengeance of the same speed (4x4 16 gb) LOTS of errors on memtest with THAT ram.Ran memtest86 for four hours on this Crucial ram with no errors. I suppose an overnight run would be more definitive, but since Crucial provides a lifetime warranty on their ram I figure I'm pretty safe. It is expensive but worth the peace of mind for the reliability. CAS latency is a little high, but I intend to run it at 1333 speed as the i7-2600k memory controller has been said to burn out on higher ram frequency, so I can likely lower the CAS coorespondingly (I think)It shipped fast, was well packaged and not covered with excessive packing material.I recommend this product and this seller.

Reading the reviews of this memory enticed me to have a closer look. My opinion in the past have been a bit pessimistic about upgrades of this nature because have added it to almost no effect. My desktop computer is about 3 years old and seemed more sluggish than when I first got it. Recently upgraded to Windows 10 which quickened things up a bit but still a bit slow so flushed with a bit of festive cash placed my order. Memory arrived very quick despite being the holiday Christmas period. Couple of screws to remove the side cover, existing memory removed, new shiny memory installed, switched on with little noticeable effect. After switching the computer on and off a couple of times it seems to have gone through a configuration process because it now fly`s.The boot process used to take about 2 minutes but now around 30 seconds. Programs load quick and I`m confident the computer is now quicker than it was brand new. This is the best £32.00 I have spent in a long time

I've been buying Crucial memory for years so when my current PC needed a bit of a "pick me up" and I found these on Amazon it seemed like an obvious purchase. Memory performance can be a limiting factor in your PC so more is usually better (provided you're running a 64bit operating system). These memory modules are "middle of the road" in terms of performance - they're not lightning fast but for most people, you're unlikely to notice. What they offer is a great balance between price and performance. Some aluminium heatsinks cover the chips, looking like they might help a little bit to manage heat on the RAM, but not all that much. BUt then these aren't super-duper RAM chips so hopefully they won't get all that hot!Installation is simple. No changes needed to my PC, it just recognised and started using the extra memory straight away.If you're struggling along with 4Gb or 8Gb of memory and you do a lot of graphics/video intensive work this could be a great upgrade.

I opened the package, plugged it into an empty DIMM slot next to my two 2GB DIMMs, booted, and everything worked. I noticed a slight increase in performance (likely due to caching). After a few hours of practical tests (playing Dishonored for a bit, then using Firefox with 10 tabs open and Flash running, etc) I ran memtest 86+ overnight. Despite the name of the program, it saw all of my RAM and gave it a pass.I've used this RAM on 64-bit Kubuntu 13.10, 64-bit Windows Server 2008r2 (which is essentially Windows 7), and on 64-bit Windows Server 2012 (which is essentially Windows 8.0). All of these OSs were installed normally to a partition on the same HDD,and all of them were able to see and use all of my now 12GB of RAM across 3 sticks.I haven't tested this RAM with any 32-bit OSs. Maybe it would only use half, maybe it wouldn't be able to use any. I dunno.

It's desktop memory so there's really not much to say, but I'll list a few points that convinced me to buy this particular kit.Pros:* When I purchased it, it was lower cost than most other 16GB DDR3-1600 kits.* It's Crucial so you know it's gonna be reliable.* Standard 1.5V operation. Watch out for kits that need to run at 1.6+V to get their advertised speeds!* The heatsinks look great but aren't stupidly huge like Corsair or GSKILL memory. This ensure maximum compatibility with large CPU heatsinks and/or small form factor cases.* My ASRock Z87E-ITX motherboard immediately recognized the correct memory speeds and timings without needing any manual adjustment.Cons:* The PCB's could have been black for a sharper look if you have a case window, but that probably would have raised the price.Overall I'm very satisfied and this RAM is highly recommended.
