I work as stage crew/roadie for a band. I needed lightweight, grippy, stable shoes for hot-weather gigs - something that allowed me to move fast and be mobile without straining my feet. This shoe was recommended by a friend, who said it stabilized his feet very well, and was comfy enough to wear in hot weather. As some other reviewers have noted, it does run small. I have narrow feet, and wear a Women's size 9 in most brands, 9.5 in others. I also have a bunion. I ordered a Men's 8, and while it technically did fit me, it was a bit snug, especially around my bunion, and didn't have quite the toe room I needed. I returned the 8 for an 8.5, and that works well for me.The insoles are very thin, and there's no arch support, but I knew that going in, so it's not a big deal. I may insert a lightweight arch support and/or a super-thin gel insole, but we'll see. I'll update my review and let you all know how that works out.

I bought these shoes for deadlifting. My first thought was that the bottom of the shoe felt odd when standing in them. Like you can feel the circles that you can see on the bottom in the pictures. After a little while they just felt fine and I no longer noticed the textures. They felt flat. I normally wear a size 10 shoe. Occasionally I can fit into a 9 1/2. I ordered a 10 1/2 in the Matflex which fits like a glove. It is borderline too tight but still wearable. My feet aren't growing anymore. And I'm hoping the fabric will stretch ever so slightly. As it stands I can and will wear them. I like the shoes for weightlifting because they are very lightweight and very flat on the bottom. The provide excellent traction on my tiled floor as well. I have been using them for squats too although they're probably not the best shoes for that.

I read the other reviews so I purchased the shoes one size larger. When they first came he commented that they were a little big. I felt his toe in the shoe and he could have worn a half size bigger instead of a full size. After the second day of use though, he said that he has worn them in and he really likes them so we made the right choice. This is the third pair of asics wrestling shoes I have purchased. I have also purchased two asics head gear and have been completely satisfied. In my opinion, the asics shoes are not flashy, but they look good and are extremely functional. Asics makes wrestling shoes...they know what they are doing.I have less confidence in Adidas or other brands that makes every type of product under the sun.

I have wide feet and had to order 1.5 sizes up for a comfortable fit. I was looking for a flat-soled sneaker with minimal padding (I don't like Chuck's) since my fluffy-soled cross trainers were taking too much power out of my lifts. I prefer lifting barefoot, but a trainer at my gym said that wasn't allowed, so these shoes are the next best thing.First time wearing these shoes to the gym (leg day), my lifts went up 10-15 lbs...I had no idea I was losing that much power with inappropriate shoes. I feel so much more stable during my squats and deadlifts. These shoes are also super light. When I picked up the box, I thought it was empty!Recommend. Just order at least a size up.

These are fantastic wrestling shoes for the money. My seven-year-old is in AAU wrestling. He outgrows all of his gear each season. It gets very expensive. These are the least expensive shoes I could find. Their only shortcoming is that there is no pouch or flap in the tongue for securing the ends of the laces, which is a feature most wrestling shoes have.EDIT after a few meets, I figured out there IS a pouch in the tongue for the laces, but entry into it is a little buttonhole, through which it is very difficult to feed the laces. I literally had to use a tiny prybar to get the laces into the pouch, and then we taped over it anyway because the knot itself was still exposed.

My son has been a youth wrestler for several years and he has worn this shoe, in increasing sizes, since he began. He likes it and asked for the same model this season. He is now in middle school and his shoe size is a moving target but we usually get it right when ordering his football, baseball and wrestling gear. These came in a little small and we had to replace them with the next size up. He's now wearing those and says he likes them. I order athletic shoes for him several times per year so I think I have a good sense of sizes, I'd recommend these shoes but suggest you go up a little on the size, especially if your wrestler is still growing.

Read the comments and take the recommendations to heart for best shot at finding your size on the first pass. Very happy with the shoe, though it took many passes to get the sizing right (thank you Amazon free returns.) It is a narrow shoe meant to fit almost like a sock; I have narrow women's feet, and it's a little snug on my pinky toe until it stretches with break in.I also looked at the Asics Snapdown Wrestling Shoe but I hated the bright white sole and tongue which look crappy pretty fast, and the layered logo on the side -- I wanted minimalist look and feel and wear. These fit the bill and also seem to be the best value for price.

They do the job. The grip is amazing, I actually like to use these for work because they are light weight and have a good grip on the floor. They are not very comfortable though. After 5 hours of continuous use they get tiring so I say there best being used for wrestling matches. The price is fair, and I love the material. It has been able to withhold all sorts of scratches and luckily I have not had to worry about rips. When I first got them they fit tight but after the first day they adjusted to my foot and fit perfectly now. It is nice to have shoe that fits well. I highly recommend!

Yes! Yes! I've spent hundreds of dollars in 18 months trying to find THE best training shoes for Kung Fu and Tai Chi. I was very impressed at how comfortable these shoes felt for $42. I am a female and I went 1 size down from the men's size. They fit even with slightly thick socks. And they will adjust to your feet so you want them to be snug because also that's what makes them so easy to "maneuver". They actually looked surprisingly cute when I tried them on. Pivoting was great. They feel like you have on a pair of anti-slip socks. They will feel like a Cadillac :)

These shoes changed my workouts. Regular running type shoes are too tall and wobble side to side too much during workout because of their sole shape. These are almost like working out barefooted. The increase in "feel" of my feet to the floor has greatly helped during X fit training workouts. Greatly increased my confidence and ability to move and balance better when it is necessary. Been a long time since I've had "high tops" to lace up. These shoes when laced up fit like a glove yet cling to my feet when moving side to side providing confidence building support.

I have never owned a pair of mat shoes before so I honestly don't have any other brands to compare them to, however they seem to work pretty well. Only 4 stars because when using them for boxing, which requires alot of pivoting, you can get a blister on the ball of your foot. Again, I am not sure if that is normal with mat shoes, but I'm writing this to give people a heads up. My solution was to put vaseline on the bottom of my feet. Seems to work. I've had them for about a month or more, use them 2-3 times a week. They seem to still be in good condition.

Love asic shoes. Been a fan for a while. Wore them while i was boxing and now that i have kids ready to wrestle...im sticking w this brand.Great grip on the mat. And they are narrow, so if u have a kid that has porch chop feet like mine, these will still work, but you will have to just go out more on the laces. Can reall see the confidence change now that both my boys are wearing new shoes. Always tell me that they feel faster and grippier (??? Thats a word).Bottom line, great shoe. Kids love them, and cery well priced.

The shoe looks to be great quality. Unfortunately it is very narrow. It almost feels like putting on a child's shoe. I am trying to decide if I should get a size up or find another shoe that is wider. I figured I may have to send back these shoes due to sizing issues. I have never had success buying shoes online.I wear a 8.5-9 in street shoe and bought 8.5 in this wrestling shoe thinking I need it to be snug. It's been awhile since I bought a wrestling shoe. I'll be returning them and will consider what to purchase next.

These are great wrestling shoes for training and in ring competition. I personally wear this with Kick Pads over them and they provide the perfect amount of grip to ensure I do not fall while working a match or training. The shoes can feel tight around the toes, however it also gives me the feel to where I can properly land my footing with no extra room in the shoe for my foot to rotate. I am not sure about amateur wrestling but as far as Professional wrestling goes these are great shoes and have lasted me nearly 2 years.

I'm givino this a 5 so far, but I have only had it for 2 weeks.**I bought this 1 size up because everyone said it was small. I'm glad I did because getting it one size up, it fits perfectly. My natural size would have been excruciatingly small**They may feel a little snug the first day still, but they shape to your foot quickly. The shoes are extremely comfortable. I don't wrestle anymore but I wear them for work and I really like them. They give me lots of grip, some support, but maximum comfort.
