Was looking for something to keep "the gear" in place during bikram/core power yoga sessions as lined running shorts don't leave anything to the imagination once your in full sweat if you get my drift. These compression shorts size just about perfect. I went with a large, it gives great compression on the thigh and leg exits are just snug enough to not rise up. The waistband tends to be a little on the loose side (in a large on a 35-36 waist) but has a drawstring to snug up. Hidden pocket inside right for keys, although the shorts ride so close to skin I can't see putting anything more than a single key in there.Front pouch area is flat with little angle or curvature but the material has enough flex and movement to not be constricting in the groin long as you put them on minding to "which way you dress" to use an old euphemism, were very comfortable.I did find them to be longer than I wanted for yoga but there doesn't seem to be any producers of compression shorts in a 5" to match leg length of over shorts so I tried them out. I do really like them for running & working out. low friction and keep a pretty balanced body temp (no overheat and they don't wick away too quickly) under full workout. At this pricepoint they are expensive enough I couldn't see buying several pairs in a whack but overall am very satisfied with them.

I bought these to help with some nagging muscle strain at the top of my inside thigh. I am 50 years old, and I run 25-30 miles a week in season, and I did not want to give up running. After visiting my physician to eliminate the possibility of an inguinal hernia, I took the advice of a (younger) training buddy and bought a pair of these shorts. The effect has been amazing. I still feel a SLIGHT tightness in the thigh -- but no pain -- toward the end of a long run (7-10 miles), but it passes quickly, and I feel no pain, discomfort or tightness afterward. These are rather pricey shorts, but they do seem to work as advertised -- for me, YMMV -- by supporting and containing muscle groups.I have less expensive compression shorts and, while they are good for preventing chafing in the inside of my thighs, they do not provide ANYWHERE near as much support, or compression. I am sold, and I have since bought a second pair of shorts and tights. These are not, strictly speaking, "comfortable," since they work by compressing and containing your leg muscles, but they well designed, and move well while running. I wear mine without underwear, but for modesty's sake, I usually run with a pair of baggy running shorts or splits over top. This is an excellent product that has put a few more miles into my legs. I'm sold.

Bought both the A400 and 2XU shorts, size medium. I'm 6-0 and 180 lbs, which puts me right in the middle of the Medium sizing chart for dudes on both shorts.Overall, both are very good, 4 stars. The Skins have a bit more compression. It's noticeable to me, but it's really only a bit. The Skins do not have a drawstring on the waist, instead opting for a wider waistband and snug elastic. This tends to give me red marks on my hip bones after just 30 minutes. No, I do not have pointy hips for a guy, they're normal. The 2XU waist is much more comfortable for longer runs or sports activity, with no elastic but rather the standard drawstring. The Skins has an oversized key pocket on the middle-back of the shorts,vs. the standard small key pocket on the front (like the 2XU has). Nice idea, but I find it hard to get stuff into and out of. That may just be me.Overall, I like both shorts and will be keeping both. If you're looking for general use compression shorts, and not hard core competition shorts, then either the Skins A400 or the 2XU will serve you well.

I like these shorts. We'll have to see how they hold up over time. I use compression shorts for soccer refereeing and long distance running. These shorts don't provide as much compression as other compression shorts. They are cut long, which I like. And do a excellent job of preventing chafing - my #1 requirement. They have a drawstring to make sure they fit well. This feature may be useful for some people, but I don't like the extra fabric used to implement it.Too many compression shorts suffer from what I call the "Ken doll design syndrome." Designers seem to think we guys want our junk compressed to a truly uncomfortable degree. It's almost like the designers don't want to acknowledge that there are male anatomical parts down there!Fortunately, these 2XU shorts are nice and comfortable with the perfect amount of support. So bottom line.. if you want strong compression - look elsewhere. If you want comfort, good support and chafing prevention - these are for you.

I am a rather large but active man. I purchased the 3X. I am an avid skater, inline long distance & speed as well as dance skating on quads (at the local roller rink). I have tried many different brands of compression shorts and have settled for wearing various Under Armor versions of compression shorts. That is until now. None of the others ever feel quite right. They just aren't cut for a guy with my girth. From the second I put these on I could tell they were a step beyond all the others I have tried. They very much remind me of my favorite bicycle shorts but without the pad! I can comfortably move in every direction. There also seems to be a better design for my nether regions. From the moment I put them on, these became my go to favorite compression shorts!

Using for middle distance runs and misc workouts (yoga, weights). Felt a bit uncomfortable and hot when I first put these on, but shortly (sorry for pun) I forgot I was wearing them. Seemed to really help reduce fatigue in the gluts and quads during runs (tried with and without). Don't think I will use them in the max heat of late summer, but so far they are fine for temps under 80, and well worth the extra baggage. No doubt I will try the full pants in the winter, and continue to use these in gym and on early morning runs. They seem to be well made, and the design is anatomically comfortable ('nuff said). I would not be so bold as to wear them without an outer layer or shorts, but maybe you are braver, they do look good.

I'm a huge fan of 2XU stuff - it's expensive but you are paying for quality least from my experience. After my previous compression baselayer shorts had run their course after 3 years of gruelling football and running i needed new ones.I purchased these and as normal they came in a classy 2XU box that made me feel like Ethan Hunt getting some sort of MI mission that i did choose to accept. They fit perfectly and made me feel ready to run a marathon.I have since used them for football and some outdoor running (its winter now, tights it is!) and feel very supported when i do. I am glad i bought them and would recommend them.

absolutely love these shorts. I run OCR's almost every weekend and have about 5 races under me with these. They have been holding up great with no signs of wearing anytime soon. They're super comfortable. Have had them on for both cold and warm weather and they have performed well at maintaining or removing heat respectively to the conditions. My favorite part is theyre loose fitting around the waist with a draw string to tighten them down. Keeps you from getting a little muffin top. Only wish the part covering my junk was a bit thicker. They show the outline of what you're working with pretty well. Highly recommend these.

I have had a right hamstring problem for years from an old softball injury. I began running & the pain in my hamstring increased tremendously. I am 55 yrs. old & was looking for compression to see if that would help. Although it doesn't eliminate the pain, it doesreduce it greatly. I usually run 5-6 miles several times/week & would not go without them, especially as I begin training later this year for a full marathon. The quality is superior to others that I have seen in the same price range. I will be looking to buy a 2XU compression sleeve for my knee (2 knee surgeries) next.

This is my first pair of CW-X running shorts and since winter has been hanging on longer than expected to the Mid Central Eastern part of the US, I have not had a chance to try them out. They do fit great, but how well they support with have to be determined. I am a long time advocate of CW-X running tights and own 6 pairs. These are the best running tights made concerning all the proper leg muscle support. Superior running tights to all the competition. Normally I wear a large in most running gear. I buy extra large in CW-X gear which fits perfect offering the proper support..

Love this brand. I use this for rowing crew. I bought my first pair back in 2009 at a cycling store and absolutely love this brand. The original pair I have is still in great condition, I decided to get a second pair since the price dropped to $51 which is an incredible deal. I'm expecting this to last just as long as my first pair. Fits great, doesnt roll up the thigh, just a great product that lasts! And with the newest shorts I like the little key pocket thing on the inseam, probably not gonna use it, but neat to have! Can't go wrong with this brand. Worth the cost.

Very comfortable running short which is slightly longer than others I have tried (for those with long legs....34"). I have worn these over medium distance runs (10-20km) and they are very comfortable and provide good support. My only niggle is that they can slightly move up your leg, but that may be because I have long/slim legs. Do they work better than 'baggy' shorts? Yes, I believe so - my thighs certainly don't feel as tired/sore after a longer run, but I am considering getting the 3/4 length run-tights to see if they give even more support.

...behind the knee, and totally to my surprise somehow manages to improve recovery time.Usually my legs (I'm getting old) are not fit to play soccer again on the Mon/Tue/Wed following a big Sunday league game, but the first time I wore these I noticed IMMEDIATELY the following day that I felt like I could play again that night.I've joined a second league on Saturday nights since then just because I can play more now, lol... Someone will have to explain to me how that works some day. Magic shorts!

I wear another brand of compression shorts on a regular basis but decided to try these during a sale. These are definitely worth the extra money. The compression "feel" is much better giving you increased energy during a workout. In my opinion, all mens compression wear is made for people with a long torso....proper support for me means pulling them up so the waistband sits too high forcing me to fold the waistband over.....just my build I guess.

2XU - fiendishly expensive but top kit. Even with a third off these were still nearly £40 but well worth it. The 2XU size guide proved spot on for me (I am a small) and so the shorts are a comfortable snug fit that support where they are supposed to without being restrictive. I use them for pilates classes in particular but also for general gym sessions. Build quality is superb. I am really pleased with them. If you can afford it get some soon.
