I've had this installed for about 6 weeks and works well. Like many, adjustment is the area of concern! The analogue/manual screw adjuster has no indicators of humidity and is very small so slight adjustments go a long way! the included instruction sheet tells you which extreme to turn for less/more sensitivity, but it's still a faff.I initially adjusted with the cover off, but then once it was working perfectly (coming on once shower was on for a minute or less and not coming on by itself - took days!) the sensitivity was different once the cover was replaced so I had to do it all again with the cover on (and off, and on, and, well, you get it). There are cut outs for the cover to allow the moisture into the sensor, but for some reason it is still obscured. That said, after reading an excellent review/explanation here, buying a humidistat to test the standing humidity, and some mega tweaking, the unit works well. I have noticed that activation does sometimes vary from day to day, but not enough for me to return this... yet!

The Fan is of avery good quality. The timer works flawlessly. The kit in the package is almost complete. The plastic tubes included (99cm diameter) are only about 30cm length and this could be improoved if at least another plastic tube was included. In my case I bought two kits to complete the installation since there is no 100cm plastic tube in my Country even though the core I made on the wall bricks was 100cm (there is 101.6 cm but does not fit the 100cm diam. hole on the wall. One also has to buy seperately the flexible duct and aluminium tape in order to complete the installation. The manual/box does not list the kit package. (2 gaskets, 2 tubes, 2 adhesives to obstract the air (never used those),screws, the fan, a plastic for window installation and gravity flap wall/window grille).

Bought this to replace original fan that I fitted 20-odd years ago. Personally I found the instructions confusing as to cut costs, they cover numerous versions of this fan... But there were also some glaring omissions that made fitting a pain, even though I had (I thought) correctly "dry assembled" it first before fitting into the wall. Still, it's up & running now, very quiet (a huge plus!) and uses a pleasingly low level of wattage (15W). I've bought 2 to fit - I'm trusting the next will go in much easier now I know the pitfalls..... So the fan alone would get 5 stars but due to the frustrating instructions, I can't give it more than 4.

This was purchased to replace an old bathroom extractor which did not have a separate timer circuit. The main fan circuit should be three-core.The separate timer circuit can either be set to be triggered either by a lighting circuit activation or by its own pull switch. Whichever is used is a matter of personal preference. However, unless the timer circuit is complete this fan will not function. The timer may be adjusted by turning a dial, with a maximum running time of 30 minutes from the point at which the dedicated timer switch or equivalent lighting switch is turned off. When in use, the fan is powerful and very quiet.

Arrived promptly, good quality fan and accessories, with humidistat. Replaced another brand of fan which was not preventing the mould on the shower room walls (no external window). Easy to fit, same size as previous one, just needed another screw hole. Quieter than previous fan and the humidistat does work. It comes on with and without the light depending on humidity (it came on today, no light on, when I was cleaning the shower) . At the moment we are experimenting with the length of time to set it to stay on for. So far no mould, but time will tell!

Finally got around to installing this extractor. Supplied with more than I needed as the kit covers installation in glass, walls, panels and thick walls. Installation guide was clear and in many languages. It did come with 1 screw less than expected but I made do with a self-tapping screw not used elsewhere. Shame it didn't come with the 115mm drill. I couldn't find one anywhere so used a plunge multipool through my wooden walls.Looks good and fairly quiet. Just installed so can't comment on reliability, hence only 4 stars.

A straightforward, inexpensive simple extractor (other models have humidity detection and/or timer) from a well-known maker. It is easy to install following the clear instructions and has fittings for both window and wall installation included. It is reasonably quiet when running, and although not very powerful it has a satisfactory flow rate for small-volume rooms. The external draft shutter is a bit flimsy and would have been better in white rather than brown, but overall good value for money.

A super extractor unit, quiet and efficient. If only the fitting instructions had been equally as good. They were very difficult to follow and mixed up fittinginstructions for walls windows, ceilings and panels. The pack contained components for all the different fitting options. A sheet clearly identifying all the components and specific uses would have been great. Having said that, once I had wortked out how to fit the item, it was realy very simle and I am delighted with the product

At £23 incl P&P, this was less than half of the Homebase price, so well done Amazon.Really simple and straightforward like-for-like replacement. Old one out, new one in. Three wire connections - L, N, and 'timer' wire.Mine extracts through a 2-3m pipe, and the external vent slats flap, so it's sucking and extracting OK. (When I can, I will clean the exhaust pipe from the outside of the house, and this may improve the through-put.)Can't find fault with this product.

I needed two of these as the ones I had were getting noisy then one conked out. I fitted them my self in about half an our everything you could need is in the box from a first time fitting to and existing one. I can hardly hear them when they are on. I shower every day and i must say they clear the steam really well theres no condensation on the walls or mirror when I step out of the shower or the bath in the other bathroom.

This is a replacement for the same. The design is classic and the fan housing is very durable . its main failing is the motor unit they last about 5 years for my usage. The motor should be a plug in replaceable part also the timer unit so you do not have to throw away the complete unit and all the associated accessories for a full installation. This would be a green solution and I am sure a good selling point for the future.

The Xpelair DX100H does everything you want it to.I needed a replacement for an existing fan that had got noisy with wear and was too loud to leave on, the bathroom got damp with mould growing. I found this one at a competitive price and it was an easy replacement with the added benefit of the humidistat. It is very quiet fan as well so not noticable and will help to keep the damp levels down.

I had the previous model of the above fan which lasted for 18 years ( I broke it when taking down in order to redecorate), I therefore bought this new model, apart from a general facelift, it fits and preforms exactly the same as my old fan, when the light is switched on the fan operates and continues for a short period after the light has been switched off.Colin

i spent about 3 hours replacing old noisy fan with this one. First i do like supplied kit, quality is at acceptable level. However during installation I found that when putting it a face plate does not fit well (solved using sharp knife and cutting off part that was in a way). so I am happy overall but just be aware about extra puzzle to solve when installing it.

26.12.2014

I have had an Expelair which is still working after 30 years but decided on a new one whilst modernising my bathroom. This was easy to install and is not noisy. I have linked this to come on when the light comes on so I don't have to mess around with an additional switch. Looks well on the wall in place of the old one.
